C+C actually refers to the crabmeat and caviar that tops off the pasta here — the starter portion costs $9 and a larger portion suitable for a main costs $14. A pretty light but umami combination of flavour that puts the meal to a good start. They seem pretty generous with the caviar here.
Decided to brave the lunch queue on Friday to give Dumpling Darlings a try and it was the BEST DECISION EVER🤤 The lunch set ($16) consists of your choice of noodles, 4 dumplings and a drink. The Sichuan Pork Noodles is super delicious - although it is not spicy, the springy noodles are tossed in a fragrant combination of minced meat, soy tare, bacon sofrito, fried shallots, sesame, spring onions and seaweed and is bursting with umami. My friends and I tried a total of 3 dumpling flavours: Original, Fried Pierogi and Smoked Duck. The dumplings are wonderful. Fried Pierogi dumplings are stuffed with smoked bacon, truffle potato, caramelised onions and cheddar - the European spin is surprisingly addictive. Smoked Duck dumplings are filled with smoked duck, shiitake, caramelised leek and Hoisin mustard, and they go really well with the balsamic vinaigrette - this is my favourite actually! The Original dumplings are like normal dumplings filled with minced pork collar and napa cabbage, but taste is on point nonetheless. The $16 lunch set might not be the most affordable lunch option around the CBD, but for me, the quality and creativity invested into each dish are worth it:)
Garlic fried rice comes with a rather large serving of beef cubes and onsen egg. Beef cube was stir fried with red wine and give a nice flavour to it! Mix the onsen egg into the rice to give the rice an extra oomps!
I finally got to have a taste of the recommended and totally instaworthy Berry Muffcakes. I felt it was more of a muffin top served up like a pancake - texturally it was dense like pound cake, served with cubes of ice cream, berries and flowers. Not something I would order for breakfast (which is what my friend did) but quite nice for dessert!
👍🏼
Wagyu had a nice flavour from the fats and was quite nicely blackened, however the meat was slightly chewy while the fats were soft. On the other hand, the pork cheeks were utterly stunning, with a crispy, incredibly smoky surface and super tender inside. Quite liked the creamy, slightly sweet sauce drizzled over but not the minced pickled ginger which tasted a little weird here even if it did serve the purpose of cleaning your palate

Chicago pizza is made with black rice dough like Real BBQ Chicago ($26.80, 9” pizza) whereas Premium Pizza such as Mango Ocean ($19.80 for 9” pizza, $23.80 for 12”) uses green tea dough that is exclusive to them! Other worth noting dishes include the Bibimbap Tower and range of crispy Korean Fried chicken.

Aged carnaroli rice cooked in house made dashi stock till creamy consistency. Mushroom lovers will be happy to hear other than shimeji mushroom, Chef uses dehydrated enoki and shiitake shavings giving this dish a rich earthy flavour. It makes my mouth water just thinking about this dish. Can’t wait to be back for more!

Cooked till the meat almost falls off the bone, like rendang, this dish packs a punch and doesn’t hold back at all. Not for those who can’t tolerate heat. I found it yummy! Perfect with the four angle bean salad and masak lemak
Ordered the upsized bara-chirashi ($18.80). Was good and worth it, just that the sauce was slightly too sweet for me. Loved the different textures in the bowl. Go early to skip the queue!

Glancing through their lunch menu, we were tempted to try the Poached eggs ($22). Organic runny egg with thick creamy slices of avocado, sweet pomegranate and portobello mushroom, it is served with rustic bread. Have to say this was way better than that *cough JB cafe with measly thin avocado and tasteless poached eggs. However, a few friends thought it was good, so maybe I should give it a second chance?
