The offspring of the infamous Nobu-ya, Motsu-ya offers a more casual, no-frills setting to get your fix of Japanese comfort food. Their chirashi bowl came packed generously with seafood and it would have been great if not for the unseasoned, warm rice it was served with. This kinda resulted in a weird in between where some slices of fish got stuck in a state of hot in some spots and cold in others (cue Katy Perry). This would be something I’d be back for if only they changed the rice. 🍚

Quite a hidden find, offering local delights such as Prawn Noodles, Nasi Lemak, and Economic Bee Hoon.

Stuffed Chicken Wing with Minced Chicken ($6.80)
.
New thai eatery @soi47thaifood opened in the hood and definitely had to satisfy my curiosity. The stuffed chicken wings was my archilles’ heel and for $6.80, you get 3 pieces of chicken wings stuff fully with minced chicken. With the bones removed, it was really easy to eat without dirtying the fingers and the skin was very crispy. I also tried the omelette with minced pork ($6), which was nothing more than a very home cooked scrambled egg with some minced meat mixed in. The rest of the items were more misses than hits and I was left needing to satiate my thai food craving elsewhere. On the up side, the food here is priced really economically and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that prices on the menu were nett!

(they have 300 stores in China already)

I will say both the dry and soup noodle is equally GOOD!❤️
Put vinegar and mala chilli then it’s good to go!
The chilli gives more flavour but not burning, so it’s safe for anyone who can’t take spicy too.

It’s a healthy bowl without added oil, no pork no lard, using 24hours premium stock, and also freshly hand stretched noodle.

You can choose out of 6 noodle type. My favourite is the “Flat” noodle!
PS: it’s soon Halal Certified.
Thankyou @kenpgl @singaporefoodlisting for having me 😊

Tender & juicy medium rare steak grilled to perfection for lunch. Crust was slightly charred & Smokey. 300g for us to share & it came with the most amazing chips. I had to ask why were the chips so different from the usual & found out they were tripled cooked?! These chips were steamed, confit and then fried before serving. 🍟 Bearnaise sauce was served by the side.

Detox cafe is new roasted salad cafe in Orchard gateway. Today I tried their signature Cajun chicken salad. In terms of quality, taste and servicing, I would say detox cafe is one of the best salads shops around Somerset/Orchard/Dhobhy Ghaut area. The best part is their salads are roasted and really tasty. Will definitely recommend for the working people nearby.

You know how we all do stupid things sometimes? This was mine. I got their Soul Sliders ($12.90), one in Extra Hotness and the other in Insane Hotness. Portion-wise it wasn’t consistent—one piece was about the size of a McSpicy patty while the other was half that size, but both were very tender and juicy. The Extra Hotness was bearable to some extent; it starts to make your lips tingle and swell a bit. The Insane Hotness doesn’t really hit you as you eat, but it comes after you’ve finished. The heat builds up gradually and slaps you hard. The cowardly threesome of mayo, coleslaw and pickles offered little resistance, as I sat there for half an hour with a cup of ice (free-flow drinks for $2.90) pressed against my lips before leaving, lest people mistook me for Angelina Jolie. But still, I highly recommended it. @chixhotchicken @taufikbatisah @bobersworld

Hidden away in a corner of Ngee Ann city, this hidden cafe deserves your attention with it's selection of Japanese inspired food.

For $14.80, the double decker tonkatsu sandwich is a huge undertaking. Built with 2 crunchy toasts, slightly spicy mustard, and 2 crispy breaded pork katsu, it is wonderful if massive, even for a big eater like me.

This place is like the Japanese version of Sizzler with a full free flow salad buffet. The triple cheese hamburg steak ($20++) is so soft and tender and juicy. It's so good that you don't even need the sauces. The original sauce is good but abit salty towards the end. The salad buffet is amazing, plus free flow eggs, any style!

Come early at opening times (11.30am and 5.30pm) to avoid the queues!

Cold pasta soaked in rich lobster bisque is godsend especially with umami flavours from triple 3Cs of crabmeat, caviar & clams.

This can be chosen as a starter or main, the latter allows you the option to add $7.90-$10.90 for additional starters such as their Grilled Fremantle Octopus, Roasted Bone Marrow, Truffle Fries & more! Or simply top-up $0 as all their lunch sets comes with a free beverage! Valid Monday to Friday from 12pm-4pm only.

While it lacks any sauce like in our local rendition, the noodles are really fragrant and flavourful! However, the star of the dish is obviously none other than the glistening pieces of char siew, each with the perfect balance of tender meat and fatty goodness. Let's not get started on the colour as well. 🤤

Overall, this palatable dish surely hits all the right notes and is way worth the $3 to $5 price tag. Go for at least the $4 as you will get fried wanton that's crisp and yummy! 😋
