We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Ginett recently. Do make bookings in advance as walk ins tend to be disappointed even on weekdays.
We ordered their Foie Gras Terrine, Salmon in creamy spinach sauce and their G cut charcuterie with 3 cheese (you can choose from their list of hard and soft cheeses) and 3 meat. The Mimolette was a bit too hard at edge. Takes a bit of effort to cut it. The Brie was very soft almost gooey but the Camembert was just nice, with a hint of sea salt.
Really value for money cause the restaurant threw in a puff pastry on a plate with Happy Birthday written in it and served in a bird cage! And the birthday person got a bottle of white wine (2016 Voignier Christophe Pichon worth $30)
Coming back real soon. Got to taste their wagyu which will hopefully not be sold out.
They just opened 9 weeks ago, the food is good, they served sake, draft beer and High ball, the staff very friendly and service is 👌.
Feature my favourite dish, Ika Ichiyaboshi.
Grilled Dry Squid served with Sichimi Mayonnaise. The texture was very good, tender, springy but not chewy.
Definitely will go back to try more dishes.
💰$28.

Each All Star Combo Set was made up of 2 small portions of meat accompanied with rice, salad, pickled radish and a katsu dipping sauce. For the meats, we had the grilled lamb (spicy), sirloin steak, tonkatsu and sirloin katsu. Total bill came up to about $41 for 2 pax after GST and service charge.
Grilled lamb (spicy) had a nice gochujang-based sauce which went very well with rice. The breading for both katsu were light and crispy but not greasy, which made it very enjoyable. Sirloin steak was well-seasoned, almost melt-in-your-mouth kind of texture apart from some sort of ligament that was not removed and made it difficult to chew.
It's a rather small restaurant with very limited seating. We went on the night before Christmas Eve but it was pretty quiet with only a few dine-in customers. However, online orders were pouring in, as we stood outside the shop waiting for close to 10 mins to be seated. We eventually walked ourselves in.
Even though service was lacking at the beginning, the food definitely made up for it and we would probably return for the hamburg steak in the future and when I crave for a good katsu that doesn't cost a fortune (comes up slightly cheaper than some katsu specialty places). Side note: drinks might not be worth it.
A dessert that's easy to like but here so-so only.
Deep-fried Yam Roll with seafood ($10 for 4 pcs)
This was really crispy and creamy on the inside, was pretty enjoyable, and best when eaten when it's still hot!

Dim Sum (~$15/pax)
⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Back to one of our favourite dim sum restaurants in SG that serves high quality and relatively affordable #dimsum, especially with the ongoing 20% off dine in. They also have a seasonal launch and we loved the steamed black truffle cha siew bao ($6.80/3) that was super fluffy and airy, and filled with sweet marinated pork well-balanced by the delicious truffle, with neither overpowering the other - highly recommend trying! In comparison, we preferred the usual siew mai ($6.80/4) over the limited edition version that was topped with quail egg ($6.80/3) as we found the quail egg to not provide much added value (& found ourselves eating it separate to the siew mai 😅). Also enjoyed the usual favourites of teochew dumpling, prawn spinach dumpling (although today’s skin was a tad stickier), and #xiaolongbao (today’s was so packed with juicy broth that all burst 😅). Compared to my visit post circuit breaker, the service speed has improved greatly.
⚠️ 20% off dine in and 30% off takeaway at all paradise restaurants till the end of the month! There’s also an additional voucher of $5 off from #shopbackgo ($45 for $50)

Standard has went down a fair bit as for the pricing. This cost us 30 odd. Felt that it is a bit pricy for the standard
The soft tofu soup was pretty comforting, it was slightly spicy and had decent flavour, except that it's literally all just tofu in the soup, although some wouldn't mind this.
Used to really like this chicken rice, to the extent that I would have 2 bowls of rice in one sitting. Standards have dropped tremendously. The roasted chicken was really dry and tough, while the rice was so soft it was almost mushy. The rice also lost its aromatic fragrant, and is now quite bland.
Brought my friend here and I was embarrassed because of how unsatisfying our meal had been.

[Burpple Beyond] Pastoral Vegetables, I got 麻婆豆腐 ($12.80), can’t go wrong with this, and 咸蛋黄焗南瓜 ($12.80), crispy pumpkin strips coated with salted egg, hmm so you can imagine salty and sweet flavours at the same time.
