Appetising fusion vegetarian food with affordable lunch sets and great coffee (don’t miss this!), but parking is an issue as the restaurant lies on one of the busier Bukit Bintang main road

Set (RM15) comes with Cool White/black miao (+RM1), very filling since I ordered spring onion egg roll as well. Quite a unique combo.

Base is RM7, with cheese add-on +RM2. Reminds me of Taiwan and it's tasted good especially with cheese.

I am a fan of this humble cafe. It used to situate at Ampang, which was a bit too far for my liking. But my last (and first) visit was satisfying, after having their signature sandwich and French toast.
As soon as I heard of their relocation to the city centre, I was thrilled and hurriedly visited Purple Miao.
Here in Purple Miao, they specialise in producing sandwiches with their homemade fillings. You don't find common sandwiches like ham & cheese or tuna sandwiches in their menu, which is frankly quite boring to me already. Instead, you get pumpkin or sweet potato fillings which are the much healthier choice.
I had their sweet potato sandwich (RM9), which was definitely worth the money. Sweet potato and egg mayo filled to the brim, entrapped within hainanese bread, an escape from uninspiring sandwiches that use Gardenia bread. You can also opt for sourdough bread, which I heard was made entirely vegan, for an additional cost of RM6.
If you aren't a sandwich lover, they also have rice bowls sets (RM18), although it is on the higher end of the price range as I feel that the rice bowl was not enough to fill me up.
Notice that there were no meat involved. I speculate that the owner is vegetarian as there were no meat products anywhere on the menu. Meat lovers may need to think twice before entering Purple Miao! ;)
They serve breakfast and lunch. More options were available for breakfast, including Taiwanese style egg rolls. It is also advisable to check out their Facebook or Instagram page before visiting as there are often some off the menu, seasonal options when they get their hands on fresh ingredients.
Overall, Purple Miao remains as one of my favourite spot to have a meal. The staffs were welcoming and the food was great. No guilt after polishing my plate! Recommendable!

Purple sweet potato, egg mayo sandwich. Make it a set with drink of your choice for rm16

Black or white cold brew? Definitely black for me

Weekend mornings are better now that Purple Miao has set up shop along Jalan Merdeka in Kampung Baru Ampang. Reminiscent of Taiwan's street stalls, this outdoor breakfast stop opens four days a week to serve up tasty egg rolls and soothing cold brews for early risers. The menu is handwritten in Mandarin, so don't hesitate to ask the friendly owner behind the wooden bar for a verbal version. Don't pass up on the Spring Onion Egg Rolls (RM5.50). Fragrant and fresh off the pan, these pillowy rolls are comfort at its best. They also come with coffee in a set meal for RM13. Cold brews are made from Liberica beans so expect smooth sips with a light aftertaste. There are only three tables, but in case there isn't one available, grab a stool and sit by the road for an extra rustic experience!
Avg price per person: RM15

Purple Miao is the kind of place you chance upon on a dewy morning when you drive down the street looking for breakfast, and it's breakfast you will find. The little hut doles out Taiwanese-inspired fare, like their delicious Spring Onion Egg Rolls (RM5.50) and Yang Guang Sandwich (Sunlight Sandwich, RM6.50) that features a runny fried egg. Bottled cold brews, marked by their adorable purple cat mascot, are made from locally-roasted Liberica beans — great for those who enjoy their morning drink on the milder side. I'd come back, just to sit by the street and munch on an egg roll washed down with a cold bottle of milk coffee. Get both in a set for RM13!

Streets away from nightlife neighbourhood Changkat, you'll find Nagasari Curry House. Still decked in its weathered cushion chairs and crooked tables, the restaurant gets the attention of both lunch and dinner diners. The restaurant serves a wide variety of both North and South Indian food, but without a doubt, come for the banana leaf. Upon initial appearances, one might feel underwhelmed by the portion of vegetables. For RM7.50 per set, I imagined a more generous serving. BUT, a spoonful of rice doused in Nagasari's curry (chicken, fish or onion) will make up for all its other flaws. I recommend going for the fish and onion — both incredibly fragrant with just the right amount of spice.

Hidden in hawker restaurant Beh Brothers is a dish worth waking up for in Jalan Alor. Locate the Sisters' Drunken Chicken Noodles stall in the middle left section, where a chirpy Chinese uncle will take your order with glee. A bowl of his Ginger Wine Chicken Noodles will cost you a whopping RM14 but rest assured, it's worth every buck. The cloudy stock is cooked over long hours with copious amounts of rice wine and ginger, resulting in an intoxicating broth that is ladled over soft, supple mee sua (vermicelli noodles), tender chicken and ginger omelette. Whether you're alone or with a friend, come on chilly mornings and this warming meal will thoroughly satisfy. Avg Price: RM15
