Drawn to their whole cakes, we had to get a tall slice of their Vanilla Strawberry Hojicha ($9.50/ slice); especially with the vibrant fresh strawberry topping. Layered with madagascan vanilla sponge, fresh strawberry filling, and hojicha buttercream, the cake looked kinda dry and dense at first but was surprisingly moist on the first bite. The taste of the hojicha buttercream lacked a little oomph in my opinion. However, it did have a lightly roasted tea flavour and was overall complementary to the strawberry filling (fresh strawberry was yum). It wasn’t too sweet overall, and great with tea.

A little embarrassed that it is my first time at The Better Half and after this visit, it definitely won’t be my last.

My favourite and something I would definitely return for is the Chocolate Banana Lime ($7.50) cake. Simply sublime, the chocolate sponge, fresh banana filling, and lime buttercream combo was a winner. Recommended by the staff when we were deciding on getting another cake, the rich chocolate-y cake was light, kinda moist but not airy so it has that tinge of decadence without being dense or cloying. Love love love the layer of fresh, pleasantly sweet banana hidden under the cream. And the best part was the smooth lime buttercream - fragrant, creamy, and providing that subtle zing to cut through the richness and tie everything together.

Extremely generous with the self-made pistachio praline which was pretty nutty, and you can tell it's sweetened. You do get to taste the slight bittersweet matcha powder that's dusted on top, with sweeter and lighter matcha cream in the middle. Bagel itself was chewy which I enjoyed, and the matcha cookie crust also added good "crunchy" texture. The burnt basque cheesecake within provided some tangy/ cream cheese flavours. Truly a glorious looking bagel right here!

Morimori Yogashi is a little homely Japanese artisanal bakery located on the ground floor of the Everton Park HDB estate and right next to the famous Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh.

Miss K can be quite fussy when it comes to bread and Morimori Yogashi is one of those that gets the golden ticket from her picky tastebuds 😅😅😅

Japanese bread tends to be soft, moist and fluffy. This is because they use a special ingredient known as tangzhong or cooked dough. By cooking the dough, it absorbs moisture and makes the end product more moist, airy and fluffy.

Morimori Yogashi's mentaiko seaweed buns are one of their signature buns. The buns are soft, light and fluffy. I like the balance between the subtle sweetness of the bun and the savoury salty mentaiko seaweed. I do recommend that you either have them fresh from the oven or reheat them gently before having it because it would other be rather greasy. I must say though that at nearly $3 for one, their buns can be relatively pricey for a neighbourhood bakery!

($14) I didn't reheat it hence it was quite hart texture tbh and didn't aware that it was dessert sando lol. everthing that they have put inside sando was quite fresh made tbh especially pistachio was quite strong nutty taste, hard and crunchy texture tbh. Matcha taste so good tbh (got mild taste between bitter and sweet). I did preorder via cococart for self collection instead of delivery. I felt that it was too much carbs and sweet for me so it's good for sharing with people.

($13) hmmm I did enjoy sweet sando but everthing that they have put inside sando was quite fresh made tbh especially mochi was quite soft and chewy tbh. Matcha taste so good tbh (got mild taste between bitter and sweet). I did preorder via cococart for self collection instead of delivery. I felt that it was too much carbs and sweet for me so it's good for sharing with people. It really is a need to reheat the bagel for reducing hardness especially putting inside fridge and preheat ard 150°C and 5 mins for timer.

($7.50) I finally tried their bakes on their outlet but then I felt that their cream for cake was quite sweet tbh. I almost forgot to eat after next day when I bought because I also bought donut at same day. I barely taste lime and chocolate but their chocolate quality was quite normal tbh. Without the cream, the cake taste quite dry tbh.

This cake not only looks good on the outside (so pink & pretty & topped with pink tea flowers 🥹) it also tastes sooooo good. The tanginess of the raspberry jam plus the sweetness of the raspberry cream cheese was a great combination of flavours. The cake was also moist and not dry at all. Highly recommended.

Visited this quaint cafe hidden within HDB blocks of Everton Park and I will be back again soon!

I had their Iced Mocha ($7.50) which was pretty decent. The coffee notes were aromatic and the chocolate used was rich and it wasn't too cloying!

I noticed that their bakes were all so pretty! Definitely will be back to try their cakes and desserts😍 Loved the vibes here too, as it was cozy and perfect for a short relaxing coffee break!

Not sure if it's their new product/ under R&D, but their bun was super soft and chewy?! Although wouldn't mind for the coffee flavour to be more pronounced.
