was about to order the beef pho but on the last minute i decided to order this beef stew with banh mi instead. was a very homely dish, and was perfect to dip the crispy banh mi into the thick beef stew broth.

Very meh. Noodles were ok thi not what I expected - it’s thinner than the Vietnamese noodles I usually have at Vietnamese stores. The beef was terrible, full of tendons, with barely any meat to eat. It’s marinated with lemongrass, and it wasn’t dry, but it’s a bit sweet. Spring rolls were crisp but tasted average, lettuce and pickled veg were fine. Not coming back.

I also had a craving for fresh Vietnamese spring rolls, so I ordered the Gọi Cuốn ($5.50 nett). They might've forgotten our order until 15 mins after we tucked in to our noodles. When we stood up to enquire about it, they immediately snapped into action to prepare this dish - & it was served shortly after (within minutes).

The ingredients are fresh & decent, but nothing outstanding. Satisfies the craving, I guess. It wasn't served with sauce & you have to grab/DIY your sauce from the counter near the cashier. This dinner entailed a lot of standing up & walking, but at this reasonable price point & casual space, no major complaints from me.

Here's the Pho Bo Dac Biet ($11 nett) that I briefly mentioned in my last review. As you can see, it has more variety to the meat.. & the broth is lighter. I guess it depends on what you're in the mood for!

I ordered Viet Lap's Pho Bo Kho ($11 nett) as I was in the mood for something robust & comforting. This beef stew pho has a hearty broth that is a little bit sweet - if you want to go to flavourtown, this is it.

The only gripe that I have with this is that the meat had quite a bit of fat & tendons - which may put some people off. Also, the meat served is just of one kind - no variety; it doesn't have the combination of meat that the Pho Bo Dac Biet ($11 nett) has, although the trade-off for me is the lighter broth in that one. You win some, you lose some.

However, in all - good quantity, sufficiently filling, & delicious. I'd order this again.

I was surprised that the soup only had noodles and garnishings of vegetables in it, and no meat or other more substantial ingredients. But then I realised that the noodle soup is very tasty, and the piping hot meatballs were substantial and just slightly crisp on the outside. Overall a delicious meal.

Lap Vietnamese Restaurant in United Square serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine such as spring rolls (goi), baguette (banh mi), noodles (pho), rice dishes (com), deserts (che) and beverages (nuoc uong).

The noodles were the thin vermicelli kinds, which I really like! The dish was refreshing, with the light savoury sauce and generous serving of carrots, cucumber and lettuce. The spring roll was quite good - it remained crisp throughout the meal and had a well-seasoned filling (meat and mushrooms I think).

Grilled chicken wasn’t dry, but I wouldn’t reorder the banh mi as the bread wasn’t crisp enough.

Viet coffee was very strong and gao, pretty good! Would consider returning to try their pho. This place seems pretty authentic :)

One of my favorite places for Vietnamese food - apart from their banh mi their usual dishes seem pretty authentic too!

Sometimes we need nothing fancy (just 3 spring rolls), vermicelli noodle on top of crunchy cabbage bed and we feel right at home 🏠 . This noodle dish is simply refreshing, packed with greens and full of flavour (sweetness from chilli sauce). We haven’t put any extra sauces though they provide plenty of sauce choices at the counter. 👌

The menu at this place gives us a hint that this place is authentic. We just can’t wait to take a bite when we are served with this pork roll. The other fillings like carrot & coriander are well covered with heap of sliced pork. 🤩 The sandwich filling is so juicy and go well with crunchy baguette . We haven’t manage to trace down Pate but we know we are in good hands as their ingredients are prepared fresh daily with no msg & preservative. 🤟 So glad to find this healthy Vietnamese food in Novena

For $8.50, you get a heart bowl of Pho with chicken slices and bean sprouts. When I first saw how clear the broth was I expected it to be as tasteless as hot water. To my pleasant surprise, it was tasty but not too salty/artificial and had the sweetness of the chicken. Wished the pho was more al Dante tho... but so great that this place doesn’t use MSG! Including the amazing broth :)

Pho-king good? 7/10
