More Reviews of good food at Pete's Place (Grand Hyatt Singapore)

Burrata 3/5
Pizza Rocket & Parma Han 2/5
Vanilla Panna Cotta 3/5

For Valentine’s Day dinner, we kept it casual at Pete’s Place, and honestly, that’s the kind of dining experience we enjoy these days—good, honest cooking done right.

We started with the Calamari Fritti, and it was one of the best we’ve had in a while. Lightly battered and fried to tender perfection, the squid was paired with pickled zucchini, which added a refreshing contrast to the crispy goodness.

For mains, we had the Linguine Vongole, where the clams could have been plumper, but the white wine reduction was beautifully balanced—sweet, savoury, and full of umami. The Diavola Pizza was everything you’d expect—meaty, cheesy, with a chewy, satisfying crust that fills you up fast.

But the star of the night? Pete’s Tiramisu. Served tableside from a tray, the savoiardi biscuits soaked up the espresso and white amaretto, making each bite moist, decadent, and just the right amount of boozy, while the mascarpone added a creamy, luxurious finish.

Definitely a spot worth adding to the list for comforting, well-executed Italian fare.

We ordered Prosciutto Di Parma, where their signature 48-hour dough pizza is topped with aged 18-month Parma ham, rocket, plum tomatoes, parmesan and mozzarella cheese. The thin Parma ham is savoury and flavourful, and the rocket leaves brings balance to the strong flavours. The pizza crust is thin, soft and slightly chewy. Enjoyed this!

For mains, we had Spaghetti Cioppino (additional $10) which is a tomato-based pasta with half Marine lobster, black tiger prawns, scallops, squid, blue swimmer crab, clams and plum tomatoes. The seafood is fresh and generous, and the delicious sauce complements the seafood and al dente spaghetti. Love the big and crunchy prawns especially!

We had Calamari Fritti for appetiser. The squid is tender on the inside and very crispy on the outside, and it goes well with the garlic aioli and a squirt of lemon juice.

In celebration of Grand Hyatt Singapore 50th anniversary, Pete’s Place has launched a limited-time-only anniversary menus (Lunch at S$50.00++ and Dinner at S$68.00++), available till 30 Nov 2021 only.
.

It’s Grand Hyatt Singapore’s 50th anniversary and to celebrate, Executive Chef Gottfried Schuetzenberger has created 2 anniversary menus (Lunch at $50++ and Dinner from $68++) from now till 30 November 2021 at mezza9 and Pete’s Place. The menus showcase beloved dishes that were once served at the hotel’s former restaurants: Nutmegs, Hugo’s and Branningan’s.

For the special dinner menu at Pete’s Place, we each got to enjoy Beef Carpaccio w Rocket, Shaved Parmesan Cheese, Balsamic & Lemon (so savoury and fresh!), Mushroom Soup w/ Black Truffle & Walnut-Bread Croutons (really comforting and loved the earthy truffle aroma), Cioppino Alla Pete’s Place (really hearty seafood with pasta - I’d recommend adding on Salmon Caviar ($15++) for an extra burst of flavour!) and a delectable dessert - Baba w/ Cherry Jubilee, Cherry Flambee & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (great end to the meal!). Overall, we felt this is very worth it for the food quality and the price you’re paying.

To top off our meal, we had a refreshing glass of Tropical Itch ($12++/glass; available at mezza9 too)! It’s a signature cocktail from Brannigan’s that’s back as part of the 50th anniversary menu specials. Finally, would love to give a special shout-out to Tango & team too for their excellent service that night!

Grand Hyatt Singapore @grandhyattsing turns 50 in 2021! When we talk about Italian Cuisine, Pete’s Place is the one that comes to my mind. An icon since 1973, this nostalgic restaurant specializes in serving heartwarming classic Italian cuisine. This anniversary menu features culinary top-hits such as:
.
▪️Beef Carpaccio with Rocket, Shaved Parmesan Cheese, Balsamic and Lemon
.
▪️Cioppino Alla Pete’s Place (a delightful blend of fresh, sustainable seafood including lobsters, prawns, and clams alongside shell-shaped pasta in a flavourful, hearty stew). Option to top up $15.00 for 30g of yarra valley salmon caviar.
.
▪️Rum Baba with Cherry Jubilee, Cherry Flambee and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

Tagliatelle, beef bolognese, plum tomatoes and parmesan. Enjoyed this pasta as the tagliatelle was al dente and absorbed the tomato base really well.

Taleggio, gorgonzola, parmesan, mozzarella. 4 types of cheese on a pizza.
Personally prefer thinner crust hence this was definitely not the best pizza I’ve eaten.
For the price, I believe it’s better to stick to their pasta.

Spaghetti, half maine lobster, black tiger prawns, scallops, squid, blue swimmer crabmeat, clams, plum tomatoes. Spaghetti was al dente and seafood was fresh and full of flavours.

💸: $20

💬: This was pretty darn good but I couldn't help but to compare it to P.S' and I definitely prefer the latter more 😳

💸: $18

💬: Really really really good, especially when paired with the almost-tangy dip

Half a lobster, scallop, prawns and crab meat, this pasta is full with seafood and delicious. wish there is more sauce to it.

Another hidden gem. Love the lobster spaghetti. This is by far the best tomato base pasta i ever had. It is not creamy and does not get "jerlat" at all. The linguine and calamari are equally good!!

Love the ambience too. Very soft and cosy setting. Staff service is great too!

Extremely fresh and flaky grilled pollock sitting on a bed of creamy beans .

Just lightly flavoured - so the sweetness of the fish really shines through .

It would be full marks if there were an assortment of grilled vegetables to make this a more balanced meal or a side of tomato salsa to round this dish off .

The best version of crabmeat pasta I have tasted. Most places outside typically use a tomato cream sauce but to me , this version was much more superior .

Al dente linguine , rich and fresh garlicky homemade tomato sauce - slightly tart and generous use of stewed plump tomatoes .

It hits all the right notes about what a good pasta should be .
