More Reviews of good food at Royz et Vous (Telok Ayer)

The Rendang Chicken Lasagne ($18.90) is a flavour bomb. Minced chicken that is cooked in rendang cream sauce is stuffed between layers of Bechamel, Mozzarella and Grana Padano cheese. The layers are not too thick and doughy, the filling is moist and the rendang sauce is rich, savoury and flavourful. The portion is huge as well - perfect for hungry days!

This is my first visit to Royz et Vous, a Halal Western restaurant at Telok Ayer, and boy am I impressed with the Rendang Duck Pasta ($21.90). The al dente fettuccine is covered in the homemade Rendang cream sauce that is rich, flavourful and fiery - talk about a sauce that packs a punch! There is a generous serving of grilled smoked duck and it is tender and not too salty. So good!

Royz et Vous is a halal restaurant which is a decent option for dining in. It can get pretty noisy at night. Patrons were raising their voices in their conversations while music was booming in the background. I visited this place during COVID-19 period when dining groups were restricted to 5 pax. Dining time was restricted to 90 mins and the waiters started asking us to clear our table at the 85th minute. Not a good experience to be “chased out” but we wouldn’t want to stay beyond the 90 minutes as the environment was simply too loud and not conducive for conversations.

This dessert is a big miss. Chocolate lava was just slightly oozy and the cake tasted flat. The saving grace was the vanilla ice cream and cookie crumble which gave the dish more texture and flavour. Would not order this again.

Slightly crispy on the outside and well cooked on the inside. Calamari served that day was not too chewy which is a good sign that it’s fresh. Good starter and great for sharing.

Brazen striploin with truffle beef jus sauce
Top favourite for meat! It was so soft, and the sauce was just bomb! 🤤

The heat of the crumble was a nice balance to the coolness of the ice cream. Ice cream, over crumble, over bananas. Whats not to like?

The beef short ribs at Royz et Vouz are an absolute STEAL for $42++. Seriously. It's a solid 500+ grams of beef, so tender it just slides off the bone, accompanied by astonishingly shiok roast potatoes and carrots (none of that usual tasteless sides here) and a refreshing salad. This easily fed 3 people, and is incredibly worth it at the price.

God I love this place. Halal restaurant food that's legitimately good, fairly priced and with giant portions. Don't order the fried mushrooms unless you have someone to share it with, because the portion is gigantic. But they're so amazingly good at the same time...

Good place for western food that is halal in the CBD area. The portion of the steak was generous and was seared to my preferred doneness. Service staff was friendly but the food took a long time to arrive, maybe due to the lunch crowd and lack of sufficient manpower.

Known for being the premier non-alcoholic, halal-certified wine producer.
.
This non-alcoholic, halal merlot, is a fine example of the range.
.
It has a deep violet ruby colour, with aromas and tastes of raspberry, blackberry, hazelnuts, and red grape.
.
The body is smooth, velvety, and balanced, with a deep fruity earthy sweet flavour.
.
The only way you'll know this is non-alcoholic is the lack of buzz you get from drinking it, otherwise, the taste is similar to red wine, setting it apart from other brands which taste like pure grape juice.

This features a good sized fillet of salmon fish, tender and flaky with a moist texture, coated in a herb infused bread crumb crust, lending a light crunch.
.
Nicely savoury salty, with crisp skin. Suppose to pair with the creamy mango sauce, but I find the fruity sweet flavours of the sauce doesn't pair that well with the salmon fish.
.
Accompanied by a nice medley of grilled vegetables, including haricots, white onions, carrots, and potatoes, all beautifully tender and vegetal sweet salty in flavour.

A blend of West African Forastero cacoa beans and Trinatario cacoa beans, infused with mint leaves.

The result is a medium thick iced chocolate, which is served with milk, and has a delightfully chocolatey sweet herbal minty notes.

This is positioned as a dessert, not a beverage.
.
You get 2 medium sized scoops of rich, creamy smooth, premium vanilla ice cream, doused with a stiff, strong shot of house blend espresso coffee. Lovely smoky toasty floral sweet bitter flavours.
.
I feel that a double shot may be more balanced for this, but it's still pretty good as is.

The last time I tried orange mocha was at Sarnies ages ago. Seeing this on the menu brought back memories and decided to give it a try. I like how both flavour complemented each other really well, without one overpowering the other. ⁣

With two outlets under its belt, this Telok Ayer cum Chai Chee resident serves up stellar mains in a spacious setting. If you're feeling steak-ish, dive straight for the Brazen Beef (230g, $34.90) – tender and juicy striploin seared to a perfect medium rare. Don't miss out on the flavourful Smoked Duck ($26.90), which Burppler SwimWith EESHARK deems "magical". The creamy Signature Seafood Crayfish Pasta ($20) is noteworthy as well.

Smoked Duck ($26.90++). If you’ve never had duck or never liked duck, you should give this a try to change your mind. It looks deceptively simple in terms of preparation but the flavours along with the sauce are nothing short of a burst of flavours in your mouth. As a result, it doesn’t have that much of game-y taste that you’d expect normally from duck.
