Yakiniku had been a trending sight in the food scene recently, but apart from the neighbourhood restaurants that had emerged, Wa Don-Don might be another name that one should remember.

As I was ushered to the seat, the waitress was prompt to bring over a piece of frozen towel, which was kind of a godsend because the charcoal grill was already warmed up and ready to fire some meats. Their Ox Tongue with Spring Onion (S$24.00) was pretty interesting as the grilling was to be done on only one side before removing from the grill, so that the chewy meat would also carry a refreshing flavour from the generous layer of spring onion. Ribeye with Salt (S$19.50) was also a must-get for me as the thin layers of ribeye were really juicy and was loaded with the classic salt and pepper flavours coupled with the aroma from the burning charcoal. Pretty much a simple pleasure!

Returning visit to yummy Japanese BBQ! Love the fresh meat sizzling on the burning charcoal. Ox tongue is a must order. The rib eye with salt was simple and tasty enough! Assorted selection of kimchi ($13.50) is the not cheapest but great sides to pair with the bbq meat

Wa Don Don

Wa Don-Don is one of the best yakiniku restaurants frequent by Japanese in Singapore. We 100% enjoyed the beautiful cuts of high quality beef - beef skirt steak ($25) and tenderloin ($35) with the assorted sides ($13.50). 😍

Grab a table if you had not made your dinner plans! Wa Don-Don is running a 50% promo for their beef tongues on Monday! 🤤 Check out their Instagram (@wa_dondon_sg) for more info~ 😉

FIRE! You are definitely missing out if you had not visited Wa Don-Don (@wa_dondon_sg) for their fresh and tender Japanese beef. 😍

Harami Steak ($25/100g) is one of the leanest cut but this chunky steak set the coals on fire with its minimal fat, giving the exterior a nice and beautiful crust while retaining all the sweet and savory juice of the steak. 😘 All it took was 5 mins to blow me away...

At the newly opened duxton outlet, wa don-don is a yakiniku restaurant and they served really good wagyu for BBQ. We ordered the garlic miso spare ribs and are truly mindblown by the beef. Everything about the meat: texture, meat to fat ratio and the sweet sauce used for marination were perfect. On the other hand, the bibimbap and spicy beef stew were lacklustre. I felt confused about the bap and the stew as they really lack the authentic korean spiciness and were overly sweet. I reckoned these dishes are modified to suit the japanese taste. Will definitely come back for a fully BBQ experience and go elsewhere for my spicy stews and baps.
