More Reviews of good food at WAKANUI Grill Dining (Marina One)

Came here for a birthday dinner and had an amazing experience. The steak was tender and juicy. We alao ordered the scallops which were flavourful.

The restaurant itself is very aesthetic, and it was quiet when we went at night. The restaurant were friendly and attentive too.

Situated in the heart of Marina One, Wakanui is a Japanese steakhouse that has won multiple accolades, including Two Stars by Singapore's Top Restaurants by Wine & Dine Magazine and featured on the Tatler Dining Guide 🏅

We ordered a premium steak sandwich ($45) made with ocean beef ribeye. Sandwiched in brioche, the ocean beef is produced by Angus-breed cows raised in a stress-free pastoral environment along the coastal area of Wakanui, South Canterbury 🐄 Together with the brioche and wholegrain mustard mayonnaise, this hearty combination is only available for lunch.

Trust me, I am not typically a huge fan of lamb meat but this rendition deserves a try! Binchotan char-grilled, the signature lamb chop is tender and not gamey. Had my doubts initially so I tried the taster’s portion but they also have this available as half or full rack 🍖

If you’re craving for seafood, try the chef creation of wild caught white fish. We had the seabass with caviar, with roasted brussels sprouts, baby corn and pumpkin purée 🐟

I love their lunch time special :

It is a 4 course prix fixed lunch sets of Ocean Roast Beef or Premium Steak Sandwich. The portion is just nice and the food was delicious and yummiest as I try the Ocean Roast Beef, fresh and good!!!

But realized that it doesn’t make sense as it’s cheaper to go ala carte.
Ordered the lamb starter at $12, octopus, beef tartare which was great.
Free Bread was nice!
But the main course 350g ocean ribeye was disappointing - looks medium to perfection but it is really lean and tough. Would have gotten the A5 wagyu instead.

Very pleasant environment and setting. Additionally the artisanal bread was nice and tasty. Would go back to try the lamb next time.

Woah. This ball of ice cream would have cost $18 if I order separately? Pretty ordinary to me.

Added on the grilled lamb. Or else the rest are included in the lunch set.

Pretty and tasty!

Their signature grilled lamb as started at $10. Is a must try when you visit! Wonder can we just go there and order 10 of this? Lol.

Tried out the lunch set from Wakanui for birthday celebration.

Mains that we ordered are the Catch of the day and Ocean Roast Beef.

A New Zealand steak and lamb restaurant located in Marina One offer a pretty contemporary, modern dining experience with very attentive servicing stuff.

We decided to try out the Burpple beyond menu which is a 4 course menu - Dashi Braised Pork Belly with Green Pea Puree, Blue Mussel Potage, Ocean Beef Ribeye and ending with Dark Chocolate Mousse & Raspberry Sorbet. On top of it, we decided to add a lobster bisque too.

I don’t really have much to complain. Their food are all so delicate and delicious. I really like their thick, creamy and flavorful tasting soup! I also like how they have use herb oil to elevate the taste of their mussel protege and black garlic for their lobster bisque. Needless to say, their ribeye is also done beautifully. You know you can trust the quality of the steak whenever it is served to you plainly! There’s 3 condiments that comes with it - wasabi, brown sauce and sea salt! Ending with the sweets, the refreshing raspberry sorbet cut right through the richness of chocolate mousse giving it a really good balance of flavors.

It’s quite a good deal Wakanui!

I actually thought WAKANUI is Japanese before entering the steak house. I am not the person who would Google everything about the restaurant before having a meal. Also, the place was extremely difficult to find, even though I am familiar with marina one area.

Anyway, this is actually a New Zealand steak house, with some awesome salty beef options. One that should not be missed.

Service, decor, staff, food, price, experience, quality all 5 stars. Absolutely brilliant. Look at the photos to believe it.
The only negative for me was that I am a big Eater and had to fill myself with bread. The portions weren't enough for me.

I got a promotion online for 1 for 1 set lunch. The set is for 128++ / pax. That made my experience even better. Ala carte menu also looked tempting. Will surely be back.

4 stars for me.

Dashi braised pork belly with green pea purée was simply magical. As the appetiser of a 4-course meal costing $128++, it did not disappoint and was in fact an amazing start. The pork belly was cooked beautifully, and its rich savoury juiciness was wonderfully balanced by the delicate yet discernible sweetness of the accompanying pea purée. The garnishing added a nice touch of texture, and I thought that plating wise it was also rather genius to go for a clean, minimalist feel.

Overall, definitely a dish worth the bucks! This is at Wakanui Grill Dining, on level 4 of Marina One West Tower in the CBD. Great view and scenery both from above and on the ground floor of the building too. Indeed a feast for both the eyes and tummy.

This is their recommended beef under the ‘Grill’ section, presented before they bring it back into the kitchen to cut them in slices for us to consume.

It’s done to medium-rare. It comes with condiments such as the sea salt, wasabi, and light soy sauce. This is the first time I’ve come across pairing beef with wasabi, and thought I’d give it a try. I was blown away! It does go very well! My favourite are pairing is with the sea salt and wasabi. 👍👍👍

The chef(s) at Wakanui does an amazing job with cooking their meats to perfection.
Here’s their Lamb Chops listed under their ‘Sampler’ item for $10 each piece. It’s superbly juicy and tender!! 👍👍

Grilled... the watercress that accompanied my steak tasted floral, unlike the local variety that we eat with soups (super interesting!) maybe the steak was a tad dry but was flavorful and I ate it all without the sauce that was paired with it.

Indeed, lightly smoked, delicately seasoned which rendered the scallops sweet... I could have eaten a pound of these!!

Every mouth brings a different taste, one sweet, one gamey, tender melt in the mouth fatty portion and charred salty bits.
