Yuan Yang ($5.40)
Peanut Butter Toast ($3)

this was good! huge portion too

Returned to Wan Chai Hongkong Tea Room for THIS after spying it on almost every diners’ tables last weekend. This three-piece har cheong gai [a.k.a. prawn paste chicken] are very yummy! 😋

They are fried perfectly with an ultra-crispy texture; and give an intense, distinct fragrant and flavour when I sink my teeth into the chunky wings. I’ll definitely be thinking and drooling over it in the next few days. 🤤

Waking up early to some comfort food for breakfast today. 🌞

🫶🏻 the warm, soft and fluffy bolo bun with a slab of butter tucked within; crisp, toasted bun with a spread of butter + sweet condensed milk paired with runny, soft custard-like egg white and beautiful orange yolks. So happy & satisfied! 😘

$3.3 The condensed milk is not so much. Good for those that prefer to eat with less condensed milk. I will request for more condensed milk next time. Not so crispy.

$2.60
I like the taste of the tea, not so sweet, smooth.

$7.90
I love the texture of the eggplant, it's not over fried and dry. The middle part is still soft. I will order this again

This is fantastic for a cold day.
.
The star is the rich warm soup / broth, bold with Chinese 5-spice and beef stock, having a savoury sweet meaty spice flavour.
.
The yellow egg noodles are springy with a grainy sweet flavour, while the blanched kai-lan is crunchy with vegetal sweet notes.
.
The beef brisket is stewed till tender and moist, having a light chew to texture, with deep meaty savoury salty spice flavour.

This has a lovely warm or chilled blend of milky almond cream and thick black sesame cream.
.
The combination results in a beautiful nutty sweet flavour that is distinct in its duality, embracing the balance as the dessert envelops the palate.

The best thing about this is the rich curry soup / broth, robust with milky savoury spicy flavour. More chili spice than curry spice here, sharp with a fiery kick that lingers.
.
The silky thin wheat vermicelli noodles are so slurpable, the spongy egg omelette strips have eggy sweet flavour, while the blanched kai-lan is crunchy with vegetal sweet notes.
.
However, I wish they'd served the tender pork chop and crisp wanton dumplings separately, because while both have savoury sweet flavour that is tasty, their fried batter quickly becomes mushy.

The warm soup / broth is rich with the flavour of soybean and pork stock, being grainy sweet savoury in flavour.
.
The silky thin rice vermicelli noodles are so slurpable, while the crunchy pickled mustard greens have mild vegetal salty sour flavour.
.
Completed with thin strips of sliced pork loin, tender with meaty savoury sweet flavour. Delicious, I enjoyed this.

Warm with a crisp exterior that crunches lightly before you get the fluffy soft interior, the toast bread is coated with egg, white sugar crystals, and drizzled with maple syrup.
.
Slather some butter across. Bite in, and you get a bold eggy savoury sweet floral buttery flavour, so enticing.

This is pretty good, with the thin soup / broth having a decent brightness of taste, being vegetal sweet savoury in flavour from the blend of stewed tomato and chicken stock.
.
The yellow egg noodles are springy with a grainy sweet flavour, while the blanched kai-lan is crunchy with vegetal sweet notes.
.
The chunks of fresh tomato are juicy with vegetal sweet flavour, and the thick yet tender moist grilled chicken chop holds meaty savoury salty smoky flavour.
.
The chicken skin has little fat, and can easily be removed if you wish.

This has a rich fruity sweet milky flavour to the semi-creamy soup / broth.
.
The large bowl is generously filled with chunks of soft mango and juicy pieces of pomelo, with either fruity sweet or fruity sour flavour depending on the season.
.
Some soft tapioca sago balls with grainy sweet flavour, and a creamy smooth scoop of vanilla ice cream with floral sweet flavour, complete this dessert, which is best shared.

This is served in a set of 2 eggs.
.
Decently soft-boiled, though the egg yolks had began to cook slightly, these are slippery smooth and runny wet, with bold eggy sweet flavour.
.
Per tradition, add some dark soya sauce and white pepper for added salty peppery spice kick to flavour. Yum.

This features a small halved baguette bread, spread with luscious butter, then toasted till crisp.
.
Gently laced with thick condensed milk before serving, which gets absorbed by the warm bread / bun.
.
Each bite has a light crisp crunch to texture, with mild milky sweet bready flavour, and stronger buttery notes.
.
Compared to elsewhere, you get more of the natural taste of the bread and butter, given the condensed milk isn't liberally drizzled over here.

Dish was too dry and not cheesy enough for my liking. Prawn was not fresh too. Don't recommend this dish. My friend had beef noodles, that was good though!

I ordered their Cheese Baked Chicken 'w' Mushroom Rice ($10).

They offered old cucumber soup for every main dish customer order and the old cucumber soup have lots of flavour. It shows that they didn't scrimp on the soup.

The rice is butter rice which adds the creaminess. It would be great if they offer more mozzarella cheese in it and have Parmesan Cheese as condiments. They offered Chicken Thigh which is generous for them.

However, this is where the downfall begins. The Chicken Thigh has a sourish taste which feels like its spoiled or had been contaminated. The Chicken is the main ingredient which should have been the best but it is otherwise.

Also, the HK Milk Tea tasted like canal water. This is the worst Milk Tea I ever tasted. Not sure is it the tea leaf is spoilt or what.

Please check your ingredients is of acceptable quality before serving it to customers.

I think this bowl of porridge cost $7. wish it had pig liver added - it is hard to find good pig liver porridge in singapore! nevertheless, the porridge was smooth and the century egg was creamy - a decent bowl!

Surprisingly this came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it was thick strong tea, but without the bitter aftertaste of lousy cheap teas. So for $3.20 this is good!! Goes well with your HK buttered polo bun - best match in heaven for afternoon tea
