More Reviews of good food at 5 Star Corner Western Food

I was in the vicinity and hungry so came to this childhood stall. I regretted paying more for hotplate because I already enjoy the normal stuff. Their chicken was fantastic, but drenched in sauce. The onion made the meal better. Kudos to the soft potato too.

Black pepper chicken @ $8.50

The taste is good, chicken is juicy and tender and well flavoured with the black pepper sauce. But it's quite small and thin to be honest. It looks a bit bigger in the picture cuz of the onions and peas underneath.

The garlic bread is nicely toasted and parts that got the black pepper sauce is extra delicious. Loved that there's a whole slab of butter with the baked potato but think it might be unsalted butter. Could be better with salted butter.

Changed out the baked beans with coleslaw and it's alright.

Located in a coffee shop at Hougang central. Will try other stalls next time.

Cheap and good.

Every dish I had here at 5 star have been very good. This time, decided to try their chicken cutlet.

Very big portions and for a more than reasonable price. Lots of sides

Returned today because previous time here was so good.

This time I had the beef steak. Its even better then the chicken chop.

More filling.

One thing I realised is that chilli sauce mixed with their black pepper sauce and onions makes a very damn good combination with the steak.

Cheap and affordable and good.

Just don't expect restaurant standards yah.

Highly recommended by a colleague who used to stay in hougang.

Bang for the buck.

It was just overflowing with black pepper sauce, just when u thought u finish the side dishes, there is more hidden below the chicken chop sia.

And the entire hotplate base is onions, loads of onions.

Just feel super value for money.

There's garlic bread, got butter potato as well.

One of the better hawker western chicken chop I had.

Served on a sizzling hotplate with a side of baked beans, mixed vegetables, garlic bread and baked potato. The chicken thigh meat was well grilled, soft and tender with thick and peppery sauce. I love the baked potato with melted butter. Yummy and value for money western food 》$8

5 Star Corner is an institution in Hougang for its reasonably priced and good western fare.

I revisited them recently after a long hiatus and the food remains of a high standard. The chicken chop is well marinated, tender and juicy and I love the brown sauce that accompanies it.

If you like KFC's coleslaw and fries, you will definitely love 5 Star Corner's which taste pretty similar!

I've known this ah beng Western stall since primary school. They make great food, but I seldom eat it. Come here for old-school, greasy, hotplate Western. The two fillets were shiok. It came with slaw, baked beans, fries, garlic bread (unpictured) and their signature mayo.

Fish & Chips

For cheap and good old-school western food, look no further than 5 Star Corner. Nestled in a neighbourhood kopitiam in Hougang, this humble stall drew a never ending crowd throughout the time we were there.

The food here is value for money and comforting; bringing me a slice of my childhood memories!

Also known as ‘Ah Beng Western Food’ among the residents in the area, this stall serves western food that are yummy & value for money.

My favourite is the black pepper chicken chop that is served on a hot plate. The portion of the chicken (hidden underneath a thick slab of sizzling black pepper sauce) is big and comes with garlic bread & baked potato as well.

Venturing into Hougang ave 10 this evening and had our dinner at one of the coffee shop near the mall. We have western food with fish and chips, chicken chop and black pepper chicken. Total cost $19.50
.
The fish and chip is crisp on the outside and juicy inside. Overall worth the price and quite big serving. #cuisineparadiseeatout #sgfood #burpple #fishandchips #westernfood

Looks great. For this price in Singapore where most western meal prices are on the rise, this is definitely a steal. And yes, sauce makes the meat more succulent

Known affectionately by the residents of Hougang as the 'ah beng western food store', 5 Star Corner whips up a truly decent plate of western food, at times, even better than Aston's. The sides are pretty meh, but the quantity and quality of the protein is what makes it a longstanding favourite over at Hougang Central. Highly recommend going for the black pepper chicken chop ($8.50) for a juicy slab of chicken hidden under the thick blanket of black pepper sauce. Pro tip: come early! This place is super duper popular. If the wait gets too long, try Thai Jing Jing for some quality Thai food instead. 5 Star Western Food is located at Blk 805 Hougang Central. Nearest train station being Hougang MRT.

Chicken nicely grilled with a very shiok black pepper sauce and comes with garlic bread, baked beans and baked potato. This is what I call the authentic black pepper sauce where you get to taste the spiciness 》$8

super value for money with the portion and sides, plus the chicken was perfectly fried. Pork chop was a little on the tougher side but still good.

Juicy, tenderly grilled chicken in a thick, savoury brown sauce, served with shoestring fries, garlic bread, coleslaw and baked beans. Everything was rather standard fare, though the fries seemed to lack potato. Also would prefer that they were more generous with the garlic spread on the bread, which is being smothered by hand piece-by-piece by the staff. Overall above average.

Possibly the best western food stall I've ever had. Fried garlic brings it to another level!

Thick chicken cutlet, well marinated and deep fried until crispy. Served with generous portion of fries, baked beans, coleslaw and half slice of bread.

All ingredients works harmoniously and the huge portion definitely worth the money. Yummy 🐨🐨
