Fuel up on long shopping days at this Wisma Atria foodcourt stall. Prices start from $4.80 for a plate of original curry rice (fried toppings from additional $1.20) but if you're dining in a small group, go right for their famed Japanese Ultimate Original Curry Rice ($19.80) — it easily feeds three. Expect a heaping portion of white rice, pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, fried shrimp, hashbrown and a soft-boiled egg, slathered in their tasty curry sauce. As Burpple Tastemaker Julius Lim says: "It's go big or go home".
After a long day at work, nothing quite comforts like digging into a bubbling hot claypot! Bring a friend to this stall, located within Wang Jiao coffeeshop in Serangoon, to share the Nonya Chap Chye ($4.50) and Sesame Oil Chicken (from $4.80), boneless chicken with an umami soy gravy to drench your rice in. Feeling tired? Give yourself a boost with a bowl of Ginseng Herbal Fish Soup ($5.30). Expect generous chunks of fish in clear, flavourful broth with a hint of ginseng!
Don't get mistaken by the name, there's no pineapple in it! Just that it looks like a pineapple? 🤔 .
I love that soft and fluffy bun! With that melted butter, it was heavenly!😍😋👍🏻 .
Ps: I heard on radio that the queue for Honolulu egg tart is a 2h wait?😱 Better be early if you're planning to head there!
What I woke up for today. The must-haves here are the siew mai and the egg tarts – frilly layers of flaky, crisp pastry cupping soft, melt-in-the-mouth egg custard.
The sound of the trolley wheel colliding against the flooring resonates within the area, echoing that is the voice of the middle aged ladies hollering the names of the delectable dim sum, rallying for people to clear them off the multi-tier push carts. It reminds me of the old Hong Kong dim sum restaurant and a warmth surges through my chest when the auntie asked warmly if the dim sums are enough for my consumption. Some of the dim sums came luke warm though - not warm enough for my liking - most likely the less popular items but auntie does her best to serve me the warmer ones. The dim sums are okay, liked the liu sha bao and char siu sou because they are really... pretty average dim sums overall.
All Dim Sums affordably priced at $3.80(!!) - the noteworthy House Special Prawn Dumpling (Har Gao) came with 3 whole fresh prawns) & Spinach Dumpling of Spinach dim sum skins wrapping around prawns and spinach 😋
Absolutely must order ok? Awesome mini egg tarts!! Love!! Best eaten warm!
Beef Combination Noodle Soup ($9.90) - supple noodles, light flavoured broth and tender slices of beef! Simple but definitely comforting and affordable!
This was the second stop at our #OrchardCentral Food Trail at #TONKINsg (#B1-02)! Thank you @orchardcentral & TONKIN for having us!
