There are super few food places in Singapore that I would take the liberty to travel down to and Hambaobao has now officially become one of them.

Crisp and well cooked buns with an amazing coleslaw and perfectly cooked, soft and spiced pulled pork, the spiced pulled pork is cheap yet delicious. I originally wanted to get the Pork Belly burger, but it was, unfortunately, sold out but when one door closes, another opens, and now I've got a new favorite burger in town 🍔

It's $1.50 more for fries but I didn't get them this time round. I will definitely try it next time, though!

We like that HOUSE at Dempsey is close enough to the city, yet feels like it is worlds away from the buzz. Tucked amidst lush greenery, the relaxed ambience and excellent service makes it suitable for a first date. The setting is casually stylish, and this is reflected in the menu which is smart but not at all stuffy. The Burpple community has great things to say about the Elegant Black Pepper Prawn Linguine ($33) — the sauce is tasty, the plump prawns are char-grilled to smoky deliciousness, and it's finished with a sprinkling of salmon caviar. It's a splurge, but well worth the money. For a super satisfying vegetarian main, you must have the Macadamia-Crusted Pumpkin Salad ($18). Alternatively, dig into the sinful Bone Marrow And Steak Burger With Bacon Jam ($29) that will please any meat-lover. If the date is going well, spend a little more and linger over a slice of moist Marilah Onde-Onde! ($8.50), which sees pandan sponge cake layered with pandan-coconut cream and gula Melaka.
Avg Price: $65 per couple

the berry ricotta hot cakes ($14.90) were so fluffy and moist!!! they recently made their portions smaller tho so around 2-3 people can comfortably finish this now. we also ordered the house-smoked salmon on sourdough ($17.90) and truffle fries ($12.90) to share! the truffle fries came as a generous serving topped with shaved parmesan and truffle bits and were the best i've tried!

When it comes to Barachirashi Don that gives you quite a decent quality with a good amount of raw fish that is also value-for-money at the same time, Sushiro is where I would head to. The marinated fish is fresh and chunky, carrying a hint of savoury flavours which sits above a bed of sushi rice drenched in savoury-sweet sauce while the Ikura gives it an umami burst of flavours to enhance the entire bowl — satisfaction guaranteed at $12.80 per bowl. The Premium Barachirashi Don at $24.80 caters to those who want more variety of fish, where the entire bowl gets stacked high with a even bigger mound of marinated raw fish and a prawn sticking out at the top.

After reading about this cheap yet affordable food option on Burpple, I've been wanting to try it. A few weeks back on a Monday, my friend and I headed there wanting to try it out! To our disappointment, it was closed!!! 😫 I asked around and found out that they are closed on Mondays! So people, don't go on a Monday!

Today (Friday), I went again with high hopes and yay it was open! I ordered one set of Xiao Long Bao (10 pieces at $5.50) , one set of Spicy Sichuan Wanton (10 pieces for $4) and one bowl of Zha Jiang Mian ($3.50). Cheap!!!!

I went with very high expectations for the Xiao Long Bao especially after reading the good reviews. However, my friend and I weren't impressed with the XLB though. The soup juice inside wasn't hot and didn't taste flavorful. This pales in comparison to DTF's XLB. I shouldn't be so picky about it because the price of their XLB is so much cheaper than DTF's.

If you ever make a trip there, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Zha Jiang Mian and Spicy Sichuan Wanton. If you like your spicy Sichuan wanton to be more on the spicer side, do let the stall owner know because mine had more vinegar in it! Zha Jiang Mian was just good, no other comments! 😊

Overall, I would definitely return to have more delicious yet affordable Chinese food! I need to try the sweet and spicy noodles and Guo Tie the next time round! My friend was having a sore throat today, so we didn't order Guo Tie. 😕

Gooey melted cheese and thick chunky salmon slapped in between two pieces of perfect toasted bread. It was a messy lunch. Warning: do not order this for lunch if you have a afternoon meeting because it will send you to food coma. And share with someone else. #freakwich

Just when I thought I'd found my favorite chicken sandwich in town, Hungry Bazterdz outdoes themselves with this utter slice of sin between two slices of wholemeal sandwich.

The Pablo Chikon is yet another one of HB's new sandwiches, comprising of a thick, juicy chunk of crispy fried chicken, spicy sesame mayo, tomato relish and most appealingly, crispy fried Cajun marinated salmon from Fish Sh-nack between two slices of thick wholemeal bread.

And simply put, it's the best new sandwich. Think of a McSpicy on steroids but even better, and you've got the Pablo. It's one of the messiest sandwiches in the HB lineup due to how outrageously thick the delicious chicken patty is, and how lavishly that sumptuous spicy sesame mayo is spread all over the bread. It can get a little rich due to all the delicious elements within the sandwich, so the smaller eaters may want to bring a pal to tag team this sandwich.

We didn't have a full meal here, just a couple of bites of my dining companion's cheesesteak sandwich. It was perfectly flavoured, not overly cheesy, and leaves you wanting more. Lovely welcoming atmosphere too, definitely relaxing if you come outside the usual office peak hours. Will definitely be back to try the other sandwich flavours or takeaway if I'm in the area again!

$16.00 w/o GST gives you this delicious plate of Fresh Prawn Alfredo Pasta with six prawns (yes, I counted). Portion is filling for a female with slightly-big appetite. 3.8/5

But I was pleasantly surprised by their crab pasta, served really hot with generous amount of crab claw meat and tossed in a mixture of shallots, chilli padi and shellfish oil.
🍝
While plain looking, the pasta had a very delicious seafood umami flavor, likely due to the use of shellfish oil. Crab claw meat were chunky and fresh. Flavorful without being salty, this is truly one of the better crab pastas out there. Pasta choices include Capellini, Linguine and Spaghettoni.
🍝
For drinks, their Sea Salt Oolong Iced Tea Latte SGD 7+ is worth a try too. It's similar to a bubble tea, except that it has a stronger oolong tea flavor, less sugar and presumably healthier ingredients.

Chicken Tikka Naanwich - The Chicken Tikka was grilled to perfection. Paired with a runny egg and sauce it gives the traditional naan a nice twist. Can get messy if you hold everything up ;) But, it tastes better that way.

FIX offers set lunch menu, each set costs only $12.90 and it comes with a scoop of ice cream of your choice (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry). Additional $3.90 will get you a bowl of mushroom soup with garlic bread and a drink (Lemongrass Tea or Earl Grey Lemon Tea).

I underestimated how filling this could be. Each layer of this lasagne is packed with cheese, minced beef and its light tomato sauce. The veggies on the side added colours and some crunchy elements to the dish. I was happy that it didn't make me feel jelak but I guess this is not for those who love strong flavours.
