Made a visit to this restaurant and did not know what to expect as someone who has not tried Middle Eastern food before (unless you count those Turkish kebabs that we buy at pasar malams). Pored over Burpple reviews to decide what to order and everything turned out great! Absolutely went beyond and exceeded my expectations.
Whatβs on the table:
(L-R in clockwise order)
β’ Chicken Kabsa
β’ Lamb Mandi
β’ Lamb Kofta
β’ Chicken Kofta
β’ Strawberry Aryan (not pictured)
β’ Kunafa (not pictured)
Total bill: $87.55 after using 1-for-1 Mains deal on Entertainer
The meats are very flavourful, everything just goes very well together in the spice mix that they use to marinate the meats! As someone who has a saltier palate, this hits all the right spots. I had the Chicken Kofta and it came with two dips β one spicy dip and one garlic dip (which we all thought is yogurt-based initially but itβs not) and oh my gosh, you MUST request for the garlic dip if you love garlic. This dip goes very well with the meats I donβt know why they only included it with the Chicken Kofta!!!!! We requested for an additional garlic dip and the staff very kindly gave it to us ππΌππΌππΌ I am not great with spicy stuff so the spicy dip was a little π₯΅ for me but itβs still good (and nothing cold water canβt quench π€£) My friends and I shared the Strawberry Aryan and the Kunafa and theyβre really unlike anything weβve tried! The Strawberry Aryan was tart and sweet, and the tanginess likely came from Greek yogurt. Itβs quite nice! As for the Kunafa, it came as a slim fried pancake with crispy bits on the outside. It comes with sugar syrup and cream, and you definitely need to eat the kunafa with both of them! It really elevates the taste of the whole thing. Itβs a very sinful dessert but I would say it is worth every single calorie! π
All of our plates were super clean after we were done with our meal, if you know what I mean. We all had a very satisfying meal π―π―π―
Both the hummus and bread are freshly made. Itβs delicious together. I love it that the hummus is without garlic. You taste just the fragrant chickpeas and olive oil.
Impressed with the portions size once again. Value for money. Nicely seasoned with crispy skin. The rice is something you want to finish too. It is amazing.
The chicken breast was a tad dry, but the thighs were juicy. Eat it with the two sauces and itβs perfect.
Great portions. Meat was juicy and flavorful. The two chili sauces compliments the lamb well!
The food and service is good and the portion is big. The grilled chicken is a bit dry but the taste is good.
It's a grilled ckn, overall decent. Well grilled yet not too dry, the skin was dehydrated but could do w a little more crisp. Marinade reminds me of KFC for some reason, and the similarity is quite significant. Served w rice normlly, we swapped it out for salad(idk which is the normal salad it is served with). The pickled cabbage(bright pink) was quite intense and interesting
Not bad, the marinade was quite well spiced and the rice had this slight glutinous quality, though it's not as fragrant as the butter rice at other places. The sauces were lacklustre tho, one is a zhnged up KFC chili sauce and the other is a tomato sauce that could do with more body
The atmosphere was chill and friendly and food was good in proportions. Just not to my taste as Iβm not used to such strong flavours. Altogether a good experience!
The dishes tasted great, we ordered the Waraβ Inab ($15.90) as a starter which is stuffed pickled vine leaves, and mains 1-for-1 were Chickpea Fatteh ($17.50) and Grilled Haloumi Cheese - pieces($18.50) with an Aryan drink that tastes like Indian salted lassi but this was too salty. Slightly disappointed that the portions for these were not huge, cost $47+ after Burpple Beyond. Service was also not great on a busy Saturday evening I think especially after knowing we are using discount vouchers. The server poured iced water that overflowed onto the table and myself and walked away soon after.
This is my second time trying Turkish food. I must say itβs pretty worth it with the deals! But I would prefer it to be more grilled and flavorful.
- Beef steak ($29.90)
- Lamb kofta ($26.90)
- Falafel
- Arayess Kofta chicken
Nevertheless, I would definitely visit them again for their great service and their hype friendly staffs!
Price: $16/pax (with 1 for 1 Mains Burpple deal)
Rating: 7/10 (+1 for the great service!)
The mezza platter comes with an Arabic salad, and a freshly made flatbread for dipping into the hummus (chickpeas, tahini), babaganoush (charcoal grilled eggplant with peppers, pomegranate sauce), labneh (Lebanese hung yogurt) and moussaka (cubed eggplant, chickpeas, tomato, green pepper and others). The flatbread was so-so. Liked the moussaka best! The cubed eggplants/tomatoes etc was pretty flavourful and tender. I havenβt had labneh before, but I found the stringy texture interesting. My friend liked the babaganoush a lot, and kept dipping her flatbread into it :) Hummus was pretty decent too!
The chicken kofta is marinated minced chicken that is charcoal grilled. It was juicy, and we all liked it. The rice served with it is nice and fluffy, and I didnβt find it dry even though there was no sauce.
Overall, I liked that the food was not too heavy on the palate, but still tasty. Portions are large, 3 of us shared these 2 dishes. Service is great too! They were very friendly :) Would make a return visit - theyβre on both Beyond and Eatigo, so itβs even more affordable after 50% off.
Saw this on burpple beyond and decided to give it a try. Canβt remember the names for the dishes that we ordered but all of them came with huge portions (be very hungry!) and tasted awesome! It was one of the best meal we had in the past two months not forget to mention their hospitality that made us feel so welcome. Top notch service and food! Go for it!
If you're at Haji Lane, hit up this casual eatery for a feast of authentic Lebanese cuisine! Known for their koftas and mashwi, try their Kofta Lamb ($19.50) grilled to crisp perfection and served with parsley, onion, tomato, sumak and hummus, or Dajaj Mashwi ($33.90); charcoal-grilled baby spring chicken served with garlic sauce, pickles and fries. If you're spoilt for choice, Burppler Thechoyalicious recommends their signature Lamb Chops ($32.90) β "so well seasoned and chargrilled that there is zero game and the meat breaks away".

Roasted lamb marinated with saffron and Arabic spices.
I am not a fan of lamb but I find the lamb here tender, juicy and almost without any gamey taste :)
50% with eatigo app! Otherwise prices are too high.
Feasting here at friday evening has a different tone to it, the chimes from the mosque nearby amidst a golden sunset glow, together with grill platter of meats and rounds of beers. The grilled lamb kofta is my favourite - crisp with its flavours brought out, together with the fragrant minced chicken sausage. The grilled chicken chunks was on the drier side. We loved the grilled haloumi, hummus, falefel
This feast is on the pricier end (~$75). Enjoyed this middle eastern cuisine and will love to find slightly cheaper alternatives too
The fact that they serve very authentic labanese food yet the flavours are simple enough for our tastebuds to explore and distinguish. Their lamb chops are so well seasoned and chargrilled that there is zero game and the meat breaks away. Labanese cuisine is also known for their kofta and mashwi which a mixed platter would be ideal to try them all. Whereas Mezza Platter ($31.50) allows you to try their appetising dips such as grilled eggplant with herbs and chickpea which is surprisingly good. To think all the flavours of the dishes complemented well and dont clash, i give it to the chef. And no labanese meal is complete without Laban Aryan drinks made from fresh yogurt and recommended to have fruity flavoured ones for beginners ($8.90). We prefer their Strawberry Ayran. An idea for your sundate or gatherings along 14 Bussorah Street.
