This cafe serves Taiwanese food. We ordered their Zeppin Braised Rice ($5.80), Phoenix Tail Prawn Roll ($5.80), Signature Egg Fried Rice ($10.80) and Mini Waffle ($12.80).
Service was good and waitress even apologised for the longer wait than usual to be served due to Christmas Day lunch crowd. The food is also of a high standard, with the braised rice very close to what you can get in Taiwan. The pork is sliced into cubes instead of minced. Slightly sweet and savoury. The mini waffles requires a wait of 20 minutes but it is quite a work of art and definitely Instagramable.
The Signature Egg Fried Rice is not your standard serving of fried rice with egg coated grains of rice. It is more like Japanese OmuRice with watery scrambled egg pour over egg coated fried rice. Definitely a must for egg lovers.
There are more and more offerings for Taiwanese food these days but this one definitely is one of the better ones. Will come back to try their other offerings in their menu.
Flawless. The meat cake was surprisingly awesome and the rice was the type you get in Taiwanese and Chinese restaurants.
The carbonara aspect was passable. The mentaiko aspect was barely there. You can top up pasta here and I encourage you to.
Thumbs down. I like both wheatgrass and pandan, but this was quite artificial.
Another well executed dish at Caffe Zeppin. The fried rice is flavourful (in my opinion, comparable to Ding Tai Fung’s fried rice). The accompanying meat patty is tender and well seasoned.
Nothing special about this but a very decently executed egg dish that has that homely feel about it.
I had wanted to try out this hidden jem of a cafe at Midview City for quite a while but didn’t have the chance to as it doesn’t open on Sundays.
The Lu Rou Fan tastes very decent, with soft and flavourful braised pork paired with a nice braised egg.
The menu is extensive and many other items look interesting. I will definitely be back!
This aglio olio was pretty spicy and not as garlicky as usual aglio olios but I think they still did a pretty good job with this! The grilled chicken was so tender and well seasoned! Worth a try and pretty affordable too
Delicious & decent portion of Ru Rou Fan but tasted more like char siew fan as it’s on the sweeter side. The runny egg just makes it WOW. Well worth the $8 spent incld gst.
Ice Latte (not pictured) was surpringly damn good as well. So satisfied!
With the revamp of their menu, Caffe Zeppin renamed their Seafood Soup to the cheesy (figuratively) Dive Dive Must Eat (S$9.90 with rice, S$11.90 with Udon/Ramen/Bee Hoon).
A warm bowl of soup can never go wrong on a rainy day. Moreover this bowl contains a king prawn, meatballs, sliced fish and clams. It’s kind of an average bowl of soup we got there, but definitely not as economical as their Zeppin Chashu Ramen, which costs only S$8.90.
The bentos here at Caffe Zeppin comprises a bit of everything: garlic fried rice, chawanmushi, potato salad, tamagoyaki and a choice between katsu, salmon teriyaki/shioyaki and yakitori.
The pork cutlet in their Katsu Bento (S$12.90) seem to be pretty lean and does not feel oily. And their chilled tamagoyaki (Japanese egg omelette) tasted quite smooth and sweet, comparable with those served in Japanese restaurant chains. It would have been perfect if there is a piping hot bowl of miso soup included in the bento set, but this is sort of a decent lunch.
People who have visited Taiwan before would have fond memories of a local delight like this, or more widely known as 魯肉飯. Essentially plain rice with diced pork and fats slow-cooked to a melt-in-your-mouth experience, Caffe Zeppin serves a similar version of the dish, with the addition of sliced cucumber and an Ajitsuke Tamago (Ramen egg), all for the price of S$6.90.
To be honest, if eating healthy isn't a thing in Singapore, the lean meat can be replaced with more fatty meats for that exact euphoria that I experience in Taipei. But the overall taste of this bowl is really decent for an eatery tucked in Midview City. I love it when the fatty braised sauce covers every grain of rice, but one can request for more or less sauce depending on individual preference.
Now I know where to go to for that quick fix of 魯肉飯, and if I am lazy to come all the way here, I can actually get this food from Uber Eats too! Great convenience there!
Trekked my way down to Midview City after seeing that they have some pretty legit Taiwanese Braised Minced Pork Rice here. It's a relatively new eatery (5 months old) in the area with an evident Taiwanese vibe, though they do serve quite a variety of cuisines including Japanese and local cuisines.
It's a good bowl of Taiwanese Braised Minced Pork Rice here at $6.90; it only comes in a standard size here and while it's not the flavoursome ones that carry a punch in terms of flavour, it balances out pretty well without being too punchy — not too overpowering despite the lack of pickled greens. I am quite attracted to Braised Minced Pork Rice that carries bits of slow-cooked pork belly — the reason why I made my visit here; the meat being pretty tender and soft with a bite creating a multitude of textures in a single element alone. Personally, I thought that there was ample gravy but I wouldn't mind more for there was a few parts of rice left pretty much alone. The egg was not really up my alley however; felt odd being cold and gave a rather odd temperature contrast — like an attempt of ajitama gone a little wrong. That aside, it's actually good considering it's meant to serve the workers in the big complex that it is situated in, not to mention it's pretty comforting and hearty too.
PS: They seem to serve "Barista Coffee" here rather than sticking with the usual Kopi/Teh option — a cup of Hot Latte costs only $3.80 and is surprisingly decently pulled; the only qualm being the sort of coffee beans that they use which did not feel particularly "specialty". But looking past that, I am actually pretty satisfied!
Complimentary. This was like a deluxe version of chawanmushi. I can eat this all day.
This piqued my interest as soon as I saw it on the menu. Espresso poured over vanilla ice cream? Sign me up! The sweet ice cream overpowered the bitter espresso and they complimented each other nicely. The ice cream was unfortunately not enough to accompany all of the espresso and we were just drinking (and dying) from the extremely bitter espresso☕️
Taste: 7.5/10
Generous portion of the braised pork rice! Their egg had the gooey consistency that I liked and the braised pork was pretty flavourful. The tsukune patty was tender and well marinated! Will definitely be back to try other dons that they offer.
They even provide games to play while waiting for your food to arrive and my fam had so much fun playing bingo hehhh! Only downside is that it’s a little inconvenient and you probably have to walk 10 min from the nearest bus stop to get thr!!

Take your tastebuds on a gastronomical adventure with the cafe's authentic Taiwanese Braised Minced Pork Rice ($6.90) lined with juicy lean minced meat and a side of runny egg, alongside scrumptious donburis such as the Pork Belly Don ($7.50) to hot comfort bowls like their Seafood Soup w/ Udon ($11.90). Their latest Watermelon Cold Brew Tea ($5.50) also took me by surprise with its aromatic elements & refreshing nature as I cool myself down in this crazy weather. Yums 💕
