Donโt missed out on craftsmen mains! They are pretty decent as well! The sweet potato fries are ๐ฏ๐
With so many cafes along the same street this cafe could be easily missed. We decided to visit as queues elsewhere were too long, but definitely did not regret this decision. Food came quickly after order; good sized portions and fulfilled our brunch cravings. Def comfort food on a rainy day.
The mainstay of the dessert was the buttermilk waffles, which came with a rather generous serving of bananas and strawberries, topped with chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
There is nothing very special about this dessert, except that it is a pretty big serving so it is best to share it amongst two or three pax. Price is around $17++, which is on the higher end although this shouldn't be too much of an issue if you are sharing the item.

[ Food Review โ 20% off + no GST/SC too! ] Whatโs better than being able to get brunch food? Being able to grab brunch food at n i g h t, thatโs what! While C^2 and I were perusing the frankly disappointing cafรฉ dinner choices for the night, we realised/remembered that hey, Craftsmen is in Holland V, and they open until late!
Iโve only been to Craftsmen a couple of times, and only to their Siglap brunch โ where I had their salmon waffles which were pretty good for cafรฉ fare! โ so I wasnโt sure if this branch would live up to my prev exp. What I enjoyed about my prior visits was the ambience: the space was open, the atmosphere was relaxed, with the added bonus of pretty good coffee and food.
The Holland V branch was a lot narrower and closely packed, and while thatโs not the fault of the brand (gotta work that space, yo), it did impact my initial impression โ it just felt like any olโ cafรฉ spot. But on the plus side, the service was warm and friendly! (Take note F&B peeps, this is one of the best ways to cultivate not just customers, but regulars.)
I was originally looking forward to some waffle action, but since Iโm not feeling robust enough to risk buttermilk, had to make a 15-min decision detour before settling for their Kimchi Sourdough ($20) open โwich w/o cheese. After deliberating for equally long (heh), C^2 ordered the Smoked Salmon Brioche open โwich ($19) w/ a side of Tater Tots ($7).
What Iโd intended to be a light dinner went out the window when the plates arrived โ my goodness, theyโre bigger than weโd expected! Even the tater tots arrived as a tiny mound, and despite having two fans of fried potato present, we could not demolish more than half of it, welp.
One thing Iโll give Craftsmen is that they know how to make a plate pop. Not just visually (love when photos take themselves!), but the contrast of textures and flavours made the entire process a really fun one: The sausage+bacon anchored the dish; the bite of kimchi contrasted it; the rich, runny yolk tied it all together; the sprouts+pomegranate seeds lifted it back up. (Personally think the cheese wouldโve made it too heavy, Iโd suggest skipping it too.)
Guess this is my new fav dish here!
Although the place is pretty chill and good cafe vibe (since there isn't much people) but the food isn't that great. The fries are pretty tasteless... not sure if we're going for healthier options over here ๐ And the portion is quite little and it's not helping the fact that they use such a huge plate hhaha. The patty was pretty good though, can taste the chilli/spice they used (warning โ ๏ธ some might find it very spicy). The buns nothing too special. Might visit them again since they are having 20% off for dinner right now!
Coffee is amaze balls (Dutch colony, not too acidic, smooth finish) but overpriced. Service also leaves much to be desired. Delivered my food order to someone else and when the customer tried to tell the staff so, the staff member brushed her off. Ended up having to retrieve my food from the customer. Thumbs down.
Who loves some soft & pliable buttermilk waffles? ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Iโm certainly game for it & Craftsmen Signature Waffle ($18) here at @craftsmenspecialtycoffee at Mohd Sultan certainly satisfied my sweet tooth! ๐
.
Featuring a generous amount of fresh berries ๐, roasted nuts, seasalt caramel ice cream & drizzle of salted gula melaka syrup on some fluffy waffles, this surely made an indulgent treat! ๐คค๐คค๐คค Absolutely loved how the tangy berries add a fruity note & balance out the overall sweetness of this plate! โ
.
The sliced roasted almonds ๐ฅ added a nice crunch, while the gula melaka syrup added an irresistible fragrance. ๐ The seasalt caramel ice cream was a classic, complementing the waffles that was very well done with a very crisp exterior which I liked! ๐ All waffles are freshly made in-house so you gotta give it a 20mins wait! ๐๐ป
.
& if youโre a frequent their cafes, you would have realised that they have switched up their waffles from the typical round ones to these criss-cross ones! More crispy edges FTW! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
.
What a treat! โค

Craving for something more fancy for brunch? We tried the Ribeye Croissant Sandwich ($26) ๐ฅฉ๐ฅ, which is the most premium of their croissant sandwiches series. ๐คค๐คค๐คค Other options such as Ham & Cheese ($16), Truffle Eggs & Roasted Tomatoes ($18) or Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Eggs & Sliced Avocadoes ($19) would be great choices too! ๐๐ป
.
The croissant was pretty delightful - I particularly enjoyed the crisp exterior, while it remained airy & soft inside. ๐ฏ While it was rich & buttery, Iโm glad that it wasnโt oily! ๐๐ป Featuring a generous portion of ribeye ๐ฅฉ (300g before cooking), juicy sauteed mushrooms๐, sweet caramelised onions, crunchy lettuce ๐ฅฌ & finally drizzled with an addictive in-house sauce, this was indeed a flavourful one. ๐๐๐
.
While I would prefer the beef to be more tender (inevitable as it had to be served well done ๐ instead of my usual preference of medium rare), it was still a good eat! ๐๐ป
Breakfast all day, everyday. A breakfast bomb piled up high with generous amount of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and guacamole on a thick toast. The pea sprouts and roasted nuts "garnishes" gave the dish added texture and freshness; and the drizzle of their signature mayo sauce elevated the flavours with a slight zesty tang. Incredibly tasty, satisfying and full-filling hearty plate of goodness. ๐
Iโve tried the Black Sesame Soy Latte before and Iโm glad to say that the standard is consistently good at Craftsmen. The Black Sesame fragrance is strong, and the taste is prominent. Itโs mixed nicely with the milk, resulting in an amazingly creamy and smooth beverage. Great for a non-caffeinated drink.
The butterscotch latte is just one of the many creative drinks available at Craftsmen. It indeed tastes of butterscotch, with a pleasant sweetness to balance the slight bitterness of the coffee. Craftsmen has achieved just the right level of sweetness in this beverage, resulting in a pleasant drink to go with your meal, or a nice beverage to have with your friends or family over a catch-up session.
Iโve loved all the drinks Iโve had at Craftsmen Coffee so far and will definitely be back for more and to try the food!
I was surprised by this when it arrived as it looked more like a soft serve than coconut ice when it arrived. The texture leaned more towards soft serve rather than ice blend too as the ice was really fine, creamy and smooth. I found it a bit weird that there were some ice cubes inside the ice blend though. Iโm not sure if that was intentional or if those didnโt get blended properly.
The drink is topped with some coconut flakes, and if you eat the coconut ice on its own itโs extremely coconutty and quite sweet. I recommend mixing some of the ice into the espresso at the bottom to achieve the middle ground of bitter espresso with sweet coconut ice. This blending of flavours was lovely, with none outshining the other. Super refreshing cold beverage with a caffeine kick. I can see myself ordering a main with this beverage whenever Iโm at Craftsmen if it werenโt for the astounding number of choices available. I definitely have to visit more to try the other items on the menu.
This rendition of tom yum was really different from other tom yum pastas.
The flavour was less spicy, sour and tangy and came with lots of prawns, mussels and squids.
Look at the serving of (salted caramel) ice cream!!!!
There was too much ice cream and too little waffle. But then again, waffle machines usually come in fixed sizes....
Overall a decent waffle, though pricey ($16 I think?)
For every big breakfast meal, my first line of business would be to attack the eggs as I feel that the quality of it would be a good gauge for the rest of the ingredients. Nestled on top of a sourdough bread, the scrambled eggs were pretty creamy, although it did lack the oomph factor. The bacon and sausages were slightly tough and dry, and I would have appreciated the sautรฉed mushrooms being more juicy!
For the burger set, we love the sweet potato fries which were thick and crisp to perfection. The meat patty in the burger was not as flavourful as we expected though. ๐
No doubt that the meal was hearty as it filled us up nicely, but we felt that the food was pretty mediocre for its price. ๐ค Location-wise, it is definitely more convenient as compared to other cafes, so it is a good place to catch up with your friends over a cup of cuppa!

Just a sip and you can taste the roast. Probably the largest cup of iced latte served in a cafe.
Creamy and thick laksa sauce base. The taste of the laksa doesn't immediately kick in and it's pretty mild. Overall not too bad.
A full brunch meal that came with a surprising large portion of scrambled eggs (probably made up of 4 eggs). Definitely worth every dollar and it came with a mild tangy-spicy special sauce.
This plate of goodness cost me a whopping $25. Thank god the portion made up for it. I was stuffed at the end of it, struggling to finish the bread.
This consists of Sauteed mushroom, bratwurst, grilled back bacon, baked beans, 2 eggs, cherry tomatoes & fresh side salad in balsamic olive dressing with toast. Pretty basic, i like the bacon and bratwurst most out of all.
You can choose your choice of eggs: poached or scrambled or sunny side up. I went with scrambled, it was alright...well you canโt go wrong with egg.
Ambience wise, it is packed to the brim (i went on a saturday morning) so it was quite noisy.
Have not tried their coffee, so most probably will make a second trip down.
