Love the food quality here, it’s decent with their freshly baked bread, spring water & special oven. You can see the Chef / owner pottering around - total dedication. I had the striploin medium rare that came beautifully done, with a generous heap of salsa verde. Not my first time here and the food has always been great!

There are two things executed exceptionally well here at Firebake - first was the breads which they're famous for, and second was anything that comes out of their grill.

Case in point, these prawns grilled over charcoal fire exudes a smoky aroma, just like the grilled seabass in their seafood risotto ($26++) and their grilled Argentinian striploin ($28++). And if two large meaty prawns still isn't enough for you, you get full-on prawn flavours in the aglio olio as well. This is because of the generous sprinkling of sakura ebi, and that the aglio olio was tossed in prawn oil, besides garlic, kombu, and sweet mirin.

The Firebake Tartine is an open-faced sandwich on a Seedy slice and the toppings will be seasonal, giving diners a different dining experience each time. The 220g striploin is grilled over a traditional wood stove till medium doneness and served with a salsa verde sauce, with a side salad that contains pickled onions that help to cut through the richness. On the other hand, the Seafood Risotto might just be the highlight of the meal as Arborio rice is cooked in a seafood stock and white wine with a medley of seafood like scallop, sweet prawn tails and mussels. The risotto is then finished with Grana Padano Parmesan and sherry vinegar to balance the heavy flavours, with a topping of a cut of grilled Mediterranean seabass. Last but not least, the Firebake Wagyu Cheese Burger takes centrestage with a thick patty of lean and fatty Australian Wagyu, grilled till medium-done and sandwiched between sourdough potato buns. To up the ante, Chef Konstantino added in a thick tomato-based beef sauce, that pays homage to his Greek heritage, into the burger. To end the meal, I highly recommend you go for the Lemon Lavender Cake for the perfect curtain call.

You know this restaurant is serious about what they are doing when they built 2 woodfired ovens by hand. Yes! You heard me right, the ovens were assembled on site with each individual brick stacked by hand. Call it crazy but specializing in artisanal bread each of them baked from these ovens taste amazing with just enough char to add sufficient flavour to them. Surely the breads are stars here but the tantalizing dishes should not be ignored. Being a guy who loves steak, of course we went for the striploin and tenderloin both cooked over wood fire which also provides a very nostalgic bbq smell to the restaurant. The tenderloin which was a thicker cut, was definitely juicier and more tender despite it costing around $60 as compared to the $42 striploin. Each piece of steak was also served with a generous portion of roasted potatoes simply seasoned with rock salt and rosemary. Overall this restaurant has a homely feel to it, the ones where you can trust that you’ll have an amazing sit down meal without all the formalities. .

I had been staking out the steak at Firebake for a while. On earlier visits, whenever someone's order of it went by, I'd crane my neck like the paparazzi camped outside a Hollywood star's home. Why didn't I order it before you ask? Sigh... their menu has too many distractions and my tummy has limitations.
Then last Friday, I managed to stay on track and zeroed in on the 300gm Ranger's Valley Striploin. The beautiful medium-rare meat came sliced and accompanied by whole woodfired Jerusalem artichokes (they taste like a slightly crisp version of potatoes) and a bowl of house-made chimichurri. Eaten alone, the flavourful beef was tender, but the herbal notes of the chimichurri brought out the best in this dish.

Served with woodfired Jerusalem artichoke and chimichurri.
