This is Baba Laksa, taste good.... if you like your laksa to be more spicy, this is for you! P.s.might be long que so dont come when you are super hungry, later you get angry. #laksa #jonker #jonkerstreet #malacca
This laksa is really good and a MUST TRY if you go to Malacca!! The shop is called Jonker 88 and located along Jonker street. We originally went there to try their cendol (which they are famous for) but chanced upon their laksa so we decided to give it a try.
The soup is very flavorful and the right amount of spice 👍🏻 their portions are huge as well so I would recommend sharing so that you have space for more food along the street ☺️
The queue was very long but they were very fast so we did not have to wait long. The stall is also quite small so there are not many seats available. But still highly highly recommend trying!!
Gula Melaka was thick, gooey, and fragrant. Ice was shaved finely and was as soft as snow. Chendol jelly was also infused with lots of pandan flavour. One of the best chendol I’ve had so far!

I was never a fan of chendol but the ones here took my breath away, especially the original Baba Cendol. A mountain of ice sitting on a bed of ingredients topped with a generous serving of Gula Melaka is a definite welcome in the tropical heat. The durian one was equally good although it will get a little cloying towards the end. Give the sago one a miss though, you won't be losing out.
Probably my favouritest meal in Malacca. The laksa at Jonker 88 is brimming with ingredients! The Nyonya Laksa is probably the most enjoyable as it is more sour than spicy (think Assam laksa) which makes the broth extremely addictive. The Baba Laksa is more like Singapore's version although very heavy with coconut cream, which can get too cloying after a while. The third variant, which is a mixture of the two, somehow turns out to be fiery spicy which makes it difficult to enjoy the otherwise extremely tasty broth. The noodles they used reminds me of Mee Yai Mak, interesting indeed. Rojak was equally enjoyable too and the Fu Pei had a hidden surprise within its crispness ◡̈
I love their thick gula melaka! And look how the coconut milk coating makes the ice ball look just like a coconut. Interestingly, they have 2 bowl sizes on weekdays but only offer the big bowls (RM7.40) during the weekends. It's definitely too much for one person to finish, perhaps 2 or 3 would be alright!
Thanks to our half-Malaysian Clara, we gotten to try this popular place located at Jonker Road. Sadly by the time we reached, the Chendol had already been sold out thus we had to settle for this. It's basic Ice Kacang with only kidney beans, but best part was their own made Gula Melaka. Thick and fragrant, it's SO SHIOK!!
One of the best nyonya laksa in Malacca.. It will be a must to visit whenever I be in Malacca! Combination of prawn, fu pei, egg and some cucumber , onion and level of spiciness definitely made the best of it!
Hello from work trip! And I guess what characterizes Malacca best is........ CHENDOL! Those who frequent Malacca would know of this famous store along Jonker Street- Jonker 88. The weight and thickness of the Gula Melaka is evident from the way it splits the mountain of ice. The smokiness and fragrance of the gula Melaka is unparalleled, I've tried a few variants from famous Peranakan restaurants and really, nothing comes quite as close to this. The only gripe I have about this dish is its lack of 'liao'. Really, I could do with more Chendol and red bean.
Love the thick thick gao gao gula melaka, like malted sugar kind of gao ok.. Dont say I #bojio 😋😋😋 #hannahtravelogue #hannahchiafoodtrail
My personal favourite at this joint. Well-flavoured and the gravy is so jelat-ly good. You can also order the rendang chicken as an ala-carte item to eat with the other dishes such as the laksa etc..
Despite the long queues under the hot sun, we decided to brave it and check out what's all the hype about the cendol here. And I must say, it's definitely worth the wait especially on such a hot day. Fragrant gula Melaka and creamy coconut milk on shaved ice, definitely one of the better ones we've tried around Jonker Street!
Love the fact that they 'married' the tangy sour Nyonya Assam Laksa with the 'lemak' spicy coconut Baba Laksa. The marriage turned out perfect so that neither taste was overpowering, while retaining the rich taste.
Coconut base baba laksa smack in Jonker Street.. Rm7.00++ not too spicy, choice of noodles available..
Sweet, sour and spicy: I love this dish, love it more in Melaka and could have this every other day!
The best laksa ever that u must eat in jonker street melaka...with a very cheap price, juz cost u Rm5 👍😍
Getting in on some sweet local delicacies, Cendol. Shaved ice with small green noodles and kidney beans and topped with a decadent blob of thick gula melaka (palm sugar). Sugar high. Now off to dinner with the boys brigade. | #dessert #food #cendol #chendol

The Chendol from Jonker 88 is a must-have whenever I visit Melaka. Loved the generous topping of thick and gooey Gula Melaka (palm sugar) that they drizzle over the coconut milk coated shaved ice. It was refreshingly good...even if I had to eat standing up cos the place was soooo packed - there was not way that i was going to get a seat anytime soon.
.
Anyway, will I get to have my 3rd bowl tomorrow...?? Will see...!!

The rojak came with some fish cake and crispy fried Fu Pei (soya bean skin). I really liked this dish and would eat this again in a heartbeat...!!
