It’s all about the choices here at the “multi-cuisine” eight-in-one restaurant. There’s Hakka Crab for Chinese hawker fare, Hook & Cook for seafood, Malt Berry Ape for booze, Chiyo Sushi for Japanese Cuisine, Yi for vegetarian fine-dine, Nibbles for light bites, Confessions of Lady Laura for desserts and Caffeinees for coffee. The hardest decision will be what to order first. After what seemed like an hour of flipping the menu back and forth, I finally decided on one of the restaurant’s top 10 recs -Fried Mee Hoon with Clams and Petai (RM26). Anything with petai gets me weak in the knees! Enjoyed the texture it brings to the fried meehoon though I wish the clams were sweeter and plumper. Grab your mates and make sure you come with an empty stomach. Their monthly highlights and happy hour promo sound pretty irresistible. Be sure to check out their website for more info!
Newly opened Impressoul Gastrology & Bar is helmed by a Korean chef striving to dish out Japanese-Korean fusion food with modern interpretations. Had a Ebi Yaki Ramen, a stir-fry of fresh ramen, prawns, yaki sauce and vegetables. The dish turned out to be moist, tasty and a sound order for a quick one-plate meal. But to truly experience the chef's innovative recipes — Hamachi Jalapeno? — swing by when time is on your side. Also look out for the value for money Meals Of The Day (from RM18).
Surprised to find a spot in Sunway Pyramid that exudes the vibes of train station resto-bars (like those in Japan, or so books tell me). Happy hour runs all afternoon with 20% off a wide selection of bar bites and an enticing buy 1 free 1 drinks promo. Way too underrated! The Kaisen Shiso Kushi (RM24) claim to be miso seafood skewers, but tasted very much of tomato sauce. Still worth the bucks for small bites of fresh scallops, prawns and salmon. Skip the Koebi Karaage (RM10) - not the crispiest or freshest of its sort and spend all your lunch money on drinks! The Japanese Highball Shochu (RM15) was plenty refreshing, but there's also wine, martinis and sake to choose from.
