A seafood ็…ฎ็‚’ eatery that is unique in that it offers stingray with rice as part of an individual set meal. Went for a combo meal consisting of sting ray, beef, and rice which cost me $9.90.

Although they are popular among the tourists for their seafood dishes, they actually attracted me for their individual set meals that not many places offered.

I would consider it prefer affordable to have two different meats in one set like this, which mostly offering BBQ stingray with different side meat such as chicken.

I would love the sambal but the texture of the stingray meat wasnโ€™t as nice as what I have eaten elsewhere.

The creamy spice chicken tasted sweet with hint of spicy. Recommend to add on a slice of egg on it as well.

Went to George Town Tze Char last weekend and ordered a Penang Fried Kway Teow ($15), Crispy Fried Chicken Wings ($10), Sambal Kang Kong ($10), Clam Soup ($8), and a craft beer!๐Ÿ˜‡

Overall ratings 7/10! Food and service was pretty average but the fried kway teow was pretty good! Liked the scenery as its along boat quay but nothing special about the place๐Ÿ˜… Maybe other menu items are better?

Fried seafood beehoon (S) @ $5

Back here for lunch this time and got this beehoon which has quite a good amount of ingredients given the price in this location. Good and satisfying. Portion is also just nice and bigger eater can get the L portions.

They have zichar options and also set combo for individual portions. It ranges from $7.90 to $9.90 for combos from one dish to 2 dishes. I got the $9.90 as I wanted to try their other dishes and also 2 seafood sides for zichar is quite reasonable at $9.90 imo!

Absolutely love the chilli squid and sambal stingray. The stingray is probably the most popular dish there. It's spicy but I like that they actually add black bean sauce to it so it's really interesting! I would like to have more sauce though. It's also quite a big piece!

The squid was also very well cooked and the sauce is sedap! It's a little on the sweeter side and the gravy goes so well with rice.

Will return!

One side consists of the Braised Turkey With Guangxi Sauce, which reminds me of poached chicken, except the texture is a little firmer.
.
Still moist with a light chew, the bright sauce lends a vegetal sweet earthy spice note to the clean-tasting savoury sweet turkey meat.
.
The other side consists of Deep-Fried Turkey, with the turkey having a crisp crunchy batter coat.
.
This was gently crisp chewy in texture, the turkey held pleasant meaty savoury salty flavour, with the sauce lending a touch of sweet sour savoury notes.

Food - Used my Burpple for the selected mains. Had the Rendang Beef and Rojak Chicken. Both were good to be honest. Beef was juicy and tender.

Price - Definitely overpriced Tze Char. Might be reasonable if you were using some sort of discount (e.g. Burpple 1-for-1). But you can probably get better and cheaper Tze Char elsewhere sans view.

Discounts - Here's where it all went downhill. Apparently if I were to use Burpple, I'm not eligible for Happy Hour deals. Never heard of this before, but okay, I can still let it slide since I wanted to taste the craft beers anyway.

Was later informed that since I used Burpple, my only modes of payment were either cash of Paynow. Found it extremely ridiculous that I couldn't use my credit card (I checked online, max fees chargeable is just 3.5%). Had to Paynow to a private number, which seemed dubious to me (pretty sure you as a prospective patron can form your own conclusions based on this).

In conclusion, overpriced Tze Char which tasted decent. But be prepared to be treated like a "second class citizen" with a ton of restrictions should you intend to use promos.

Personally, I will not patronize again.

Sambal fried rice - $5
Seafood tomyum soup - $6.50
Oyster omelette - $7
Dou miou - $5
Bandung - $1.80

Cheap and good.
The tomyum soup is super appetising and it comes with lots of ingredients including prawns, sotong and mushrooms though they're all quite small sized.

The sambal fried rice is also simple, yet flavourful and super tasty.

The dou miou, wel, there's nothing much to comment to be honest as you can't really go wrong with stir-fried vegetables.

The oyster omelette is our favourite dish and it's got a good balance of taste and also good amount of oysters. Tastes very good with the chili sauce that they provide as well!

Will be back to try their other dishes and maybe the saigon food that also belongs to the same group and is just next door.

The egg omelette is fluffy and soft, with beautiful eggy sweet savoury flavour.
.
Studded with large fresh live oysters, juicy and succulent, with bright briny salty sweet flavour. Polished it off.
