I did a little more research this time round and decided to try this interesting dish recommended by Johorkaki on his blog.

This is essentially a stir-fry dish comprising of Chinese Leek, taro strips, dried shrimp, siu yok and jelly fish. The end result is a delicious dish full of savoury umami and wok hei flavours.

If there is one dish you have to order, this is it. Yes, over the bamboo clams!

We are big fans of Ji Xian's juicy and tender steamed bamboo clams and were disappointed to learn that they were out of season. The folks at Ji Xian therefore suggested that we check out their mini bamboo clams prepared the same way.

Unfortunately, everyone felt that the mini version fell short of our expectations. They were noticeably smaller and tougher with a 'stringy' texture.

Not a fan of the ingredient itself tbh.

Xiao Chen handmade bao dian's classic siew mai, prawn tail dumpling, and crab claw dumpling offer a delightful experience at an affordable price of $2.20 per bamboo basket.
The classic siew mai is flavourful with a well-balanced mix of pork and shrimp, while the prawn tail dumplings are fresh and succulent.
The crab claw dumplings stand out with their rich taste and tender texture.
Overall, it's a satisfying treat for dim sum lovers seeking quality without breaking the bank.
The cup of hot brew tea is $1.40

Aka chilli oil dumpling noodle. Portions here are downsized, so I can't decide is this a snack. The noodles had an unusual texture. The dumplings were very ordinary haha.

I don't recall I've eaten this, so I was surprised how good it was. The radish/carrot cake came in sizeable coated cubes, the egg was generous and the whole dish was fragrant.

Our favourite dish was undoubtedly the fresh steam bamboo clams. The clams come with a nice heap of glass noodles and are topped with soy sauce, sesame oil and fried garlic.

There is only one right way to do eat this - simply slurp it all up!

The crispy chicken was everyone's favourite dish during our recent lunch visit.

The chicken was juicy, tender and well marinated and the skin shattering crisp. That said, we ordered half chicken and you can see how small it was...

Ji Xian is a old school 大排档 style restaurant that serves both HK dimsum and seafood tzichar.

Their food is quite decent. I quite like their egg hor fun with prawns which was silky smooth and savoury. The rice noodles could use a bit more wokhei and tbh I was kinda expecting a little more ingredients considering the price!

Fei Chang Hao 妃肠好 serves ribbon-style Chee Cheong Fun, which I find quite unique in Singapore. I followed them to their new location at Food Haven Coffeeshop (5 Upper Boon Keng Rd, #01-22), from their original location in Boon Keng Market where I first fell in love with them.

Priced affordably & substantial in quantity, I went for the You Tiao Rice Roll 炸两肠粉 ($3.90 nett) today. I paid extra (+$0.50 nett) to add an egg just 'cos it compliments it well. This was a good portion for a tea-time snack, having had brunch in the late morning & I was feeling peckish before dinner time.

I really like the silky smooth texture of the CCF, which is consistent across their other options as well - as it should. The sauce was enough to dip each piece around without drowning the whole dish. Iirc, they used to be a Burpple Beyond merchant - but I'd willingly pay full price for this. & you know I'd return again... & again.

Came across the social media page of Hennessy Hong Kong Food Hall fairly recently — the establishment being a food hall located around the ground floor of Kallang Leisure Park that comprises of several concepts by located under one roof; a type of concept that isn’t particularly strange in Singapore that is also similar to that of the now-defunct Picnic Food Garden at Wisma Atria where patrons make their order and pay at the individual stalls that they intend to order from. Hennessy Hong Kong Food Hall houses five different concepts within its premises here; this includes the following:

- Wing Hing Cafe (i.e. the drinks stall);
- Cheong Shun Hongkong Dim Sum;
- San Yuen Congee;
- Manfook Hong Kong Roast Meat (also one of the stalls we tried at Food Republic Wisma Atria previously); and
- Man Ho Cantonese Soup

Giving the concepts that we have yet to try out a go, we went for a bulk of items from the menu of Cheong Shun Hongkong Dim Sum. Amongst the items that we have had, we found the Steamed Honey BBQ Pork Pau being one of the better items alongside the Siew Mai with Crab Roe — while the downside of the Steamed Honey BBQ Pork Pau is the temperature of which it was served at (i.e. room temperature), we did find the item pretty impressive otherwise. Tearing the Pau apart (refer to second pic in the carousel post), the bun to filling ratio felt pretty on point; the bun also being soft and fluffy even despite the temperature it was being served in. We really liked how there was sufficient sauce here in the filling — the sauce was actually pretty thick and savoury; not overly sweetened at the same time and the meat did not carry any undesirable porky stench. Thought they would really have nailed it if they could serve it warmer — the sauce was certainly a detail that they have nailed down really well here. Interestingly, the Steamed Honey BBQ Pork Pau is also sold in a single portion here; something which we personally prefer since it allows us to try a larger variety of items that they have to offer.

Having tried a few items from some of the stalls at Hennessy Hong Kong Food Hall, we do feel that the meal was a bunch of hits and misses. That being said, apart from the Steamed Honey BBQ Pork Pau, other highlights include the Red Grouper Fish Fillet Congee which was incredibly smooth and comes with a lingering hint of ginger that was pretty refreshing; pretty meaty red grouper slices included as well. We also reckon that the Honey-Glazed Char Siew Pork from Manfook Hong Kong Roast Meat would be a show-stopper as well if it remains as consistent as it was from when we had made our visit to their Food Republic Wisma Atria location. Overall, Hennessy Hong Kong Food Hall does seem to be the more budget-friendly option for Hong Kong/Cantonese cuisine within Kallang Leisure Park; no doubt the dishes (especially the dim sum) are a little bit of a hit and miss, but they do certainly come across as an attractive option to dine at within Kallang Leisure Park without breaking the wallet.

Affordable and good. Not the best dim sum, but for this price, I will eat this very often.

I would say the har gao & siew mai were the main highlights. The steam pork is good, but felt I didn't eat much meat.

Overall taste, A good solid 7.5/10
