More Reviews of good food at Picotin Brewhaus (Rochester)

Food here exceeded our expectations - meats were really yummy! Pork knuckle skin was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Fried chicken wings were crispy and had a spicy kick to it. Pork belly and pork ribs were super tender and tasty as well. Came with roasted vege, potato wedges, mashed potatoes, waffle fries, sausages and pizza. The only two things that were a miss were their sausages (too salty) & pizza (kinda tasteless). This huge platter is good enough for 6pax! Their beer tasting sampler also allowed us to try all the different types of beers they had! 🍻🍺 a nice chillax experience if you’re out with a group of friends!

Tucked away at Rochester Park, @beerfest_singapore is a traditional restaurant that’s surrounded by lush greenery, famous for its freshly brewed craft beer and classic Western & Slavic cuisine. Having their very own in-house microbrewery with large polished beer tanks, the 9 different craft beers they serve are certainly as fresh and natural as it can be. Did you know they are an international chain of restaurants in Russia, Thailand and Singapore?

Featured is their Signature German Pork Knuckles that can probably serve 2-3 pax. Crunchy on the outside and juicy within, the meat was tender and tasty, but may be slightly salty for some (after brining for 7 days).

Swipe 👈 for more of their mouth-watering food they have to offer. Special mention goes out to their Fried Chicken Wings, which are deeply marinated through the skin and not overly greasy. Pairs very well with beer, you can consider going for their Beer Tasting option to try all their craft beers before choosing those you like most! Cherry Ruby🍺 is my personal favourite 😊.

Thank you @polianskiisergei for the kind invite and @beerfest_singapore for the plethora of food & drinks!

They have a wide selection of ice cold craft beers that are brewed in-house that is sure to quench your thirst in this scorching heat or good for gathering with friends/families. Their wide spacious alfresco seating is surrounded by greenery and they have fairy lights that made the restaurant look extra magical at night.

Are you spoilt for choices?
Thanks, @ariane.le for the invite and @beerfest_singapore for hosting us!

The only decision you need to make is bottle or glass!🍻

This is an authentic taste of European home cooking – from the rustic-style mashed potatoes to the cut and flavour of the sauerkraut, and of course it goes without saying, the huge chunks of tender pork, gelatinous fat and salty, crunchy crackling. Make sure to ask for mustard and mayo to swathe your meaty delights in.

A satisfactory if nondescript cheese burger. If you only have space for one thing, get the pork knuckles instead. We rather enjoyed the fries though.

In my excitement at seeing herring on the menu of a restaurant in Singapore, I overlooked the fact that it was salted and not pickled, herring. The in-your-face fishiness and saltiness is definitely an acquired taste.

Nestled in quiet Rochester Park is a relatively off-the-radar micro brewery that warrants any beer lover’s attention. Their craft beers are all brewed onsite and piped straight to the taps, ensuring only the freshest, crispest draft passes your lips. A good way to sample all the beers and discover your favourites is the Beer Tasting – 9 shots of fairly different but all equally delicious beer. My choice picks were the hoppy Indian and American Pale Ales, and the rich, roasty flavour of Russian Imperial Stout.

If you have trouble deciding which beer to choose from, ordering their beer sample set would be a good option. Each sample glass of beers (which are all brewed in house) are strategically placed atop their respective names, so you would know which beers you’re sampling.

My personal favourite would be the Golden Wheat beer; it was light and refreshing with a nice aroma.

Located at Rochester Park, Beerfest is an international chain that have restaurants in Russia, Thailand and Singapore! They brew their own beers with traditional German technologies that contains live yeast culture that makes their beer a healthy drink.

Not sure which beer to have? Try their Beer Tasting ($28) sampler, which contains 9 types of beers such as Cherry Ruby, Green Piece, Russian Imperial Stout etc.

Crispy Fried Chicken Wings ($13) is our favourite and you must order this if you do visit here. Crispy German Pork Knuckle ($38) served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut is an excellent dish to go along with the beers, and will be better if there are sauces to go along with it.

They are having a beer o'clock promotion, and it's only $3.90 per pint from 12pm to 3pm, with an additional dollar more every hour up till 7pm. Lunch sets are also available on weekdays at $10!

Thanks @beerfest_singapore for the invitation!

Tasting exactly like the patty in a Zinger burger, these crunchy wings and drumettes are the ideal accompaniment to Beerfest Brewery’s range of refreshing craft beers. I couldn’t stop at just one.

Spicy chicken wings is what you must get! It was really gooood, crispy skin of a different type of flour coating I’m not sure what it was but it definitely had the crunch!
Pork knuckle meat was towards the dry side but parts with the crispy skin was pretty amazing 🤤 You wouldn’t want to miss on this 2 dishes because they were great, just as the boss recommended 😌 All the other mains we ordered (ribs, beef, lamb chop, grilled chicken) were not bad but you could do without them.

Make sure you get some craft beers too! They go pretty well with the food. Cheers!

Had a sample of 9 different craft beers and my favourites were Cherry Ruby and Golden Wheat!

Cherry Ruby's captivating aroma of fruity cherry sweetness was their Ladies favourite! Golden Wheat was close to a typical light-tasting beer taste, but with a light taste of bread crust. Kvass tasted the most unique to me. It's made from sourdough rye bread and is considered non-alcoholic due to its very low alcohol content! And that interesting glass of green beer was Greenpiece. Definitely did not taste as weird as it looks 😌

Next to the quiet driveway of Rochester Park sits Brewfest Brewery surrounded by greenery and comfortable music. I had an fun time with my pals drinking all the different beers from their beer tasting menu. Go ahead grab a few buddies over and I’m sure you’ll have a crafty great chat over a few light glasses of beer!

Housed in an old black and white bungalow amidst the lush greenery of Rochester Park is a microbrewery that has its roots in Thailand and Russia. This very spacious joint (according to owner Sergei, it is suitable for events as their venue can seat up to 500 people) serves a large variety of beer brewed right on their premises by Angelo. It was fascinating to hear him share so passionately about the science and the process when we visited last night.
To pair with the beer, the food items I enjoyed the most were the Chicken Wings (they‘re very crunchy and surprisingly spicy) and the Crispy German Pork Knuckle. Both, a match made in heaven with beer. Shown above is the latter, a massive serving suitable for 2 to 4 people depending on how hungry everyone is, was really very good. Having been brined for seven days, the meat tasted tender, moist and very flavourful through and through. But the extremely crunchy skin was what I loved most. It was addictively salty but stopped short of being too much. The sauerkraut and mashed potato served alongside were faultless too.

Dry pork knuckles served with no sauce and bad ribs that are tough and tasteless after the first layer of dressing is gone. The only good thing was the beer o'clock but you get burnt stout and sour ale... pizza came with a sticker tag from the package.. Not worth the trip down totally. Not worth the stomach space for the lousy food and beer too. Service was meh too.
