Dropped by PS. Cafe for a quick lunch today after running some errands in Orchard and their truffle shoestring fries is still consistently good. Perfectly crisp with a nice truffle fragrance and topped with grated parmesan. The chicken rossa penne is my usual go-to, the garlic tomato cream sauce is a nice balance of tangy and savoury. However, the spicy king prawn aglio olio fell short today with the spaghetti being the main culprit; under-seasoned and was cut up into shorter strands, a move that might anger many diners.

I’ve never see any review of this dish before so thought to give some of my comment. This portion cost $18 which is the same as their Truffle Fries (the more pops one). My honest review:
Crust of the mushroom is still crispy when served 👍🏼
However, there’s nothing really special about this dish though and because it is fried, the mushroom still pretty oily. Can be quite jelak after eating a few pieces. So probably I will stick to the truffle fries instead of this.

homemade toasted caraway bread, layered with smoked turkey, grilled cheese, bacon, mayo & cranberry jam, served with shoestring fries

We ended off our meal at PS. Cafe with a dark chocolate banana cheesecake, which looks like a typical cheesecake that is topped with a generous slab of dark chocolate. The chocolate layer is pretty bitter so it is great for fans of dark chocolate, while it might not be palatable for those who love milk chocolate.

As the name of the dessert suggests, the cheesecake is not your typical cheesecake as it is infused with banana. The tastes of banana and cheese are both pretty pronounced, however, and surprisingly, they go pretty well together! The cake is also fairly large and we think it's best to share the cake because the cheesecake can be pretty cloying after a while... 😰

As PS. Cafe has always been serving slightly more upmarket dishes, the cheesecake is a little expensive as well and it will set you back by around $15++. If you are not a fan of bananas or cheesecakes, we suggest that you don't order this for dessert.

We wanted to try something that we have yet to try at PS. Cafe previously, and we landed on the crab tart! This is basically a quiche stuffed with a pretty generous serving of crab meat and egg encased in a buttery crust! The filling was really crab-by and it really has the legit taste of crab meat. The tart was then placed on a plate that has a thin layer of prawn-flavoured bisque, which was arguably pretty flavourful!

To be honest, we found it strange that the tart was placed directly in the bisque because all it does is to make the crust of the tart soggy. 😰 Furthermore, the seafood flavour of the bisque doesn't really go well with the buttery crust. It would have been better if the bisque was placed in a separate receptacle, which allows you to eat it however you like. I would have drizzled a bit over the tart filling, and not the crust of the tart itself!

Also, the quiche is way bigger than it looks in the photo so it will definitely get pretty filling towards the end of your meal. Hence, you may wish to share the quiche with someone, which will allow you to enjoy more dishes as well!

The dish is priced at $32++, which is pretty steep in our opinion. While you are probably paying for the decent amount of crab meat, this is a dish that we are unlikely to order again.

As we heard that PS Cafe was famous for their truffle fries, we decided that we had to order those fries as an appetiser. When the waitress came with our fries, we were shocked to see the huge mountain of fries that were covered with parmesan cheese, and emanating the aroma of truffle.😅

The fries were served piping hot and we liked that they were really crispy, even after the dish has cooled down. You can get the full serving for $16++, which is more than enough to be shared between 4 to 5 persons! Alternatively, if there are only 2 of you, it should be possible to request for a half-serving, which is priced at around $8++.

As you unravel the forest of greens, you’ll find a poached egg, sliced avocados, smoked turkey, Brie cheese slabs on top of the brioche. Very let down by this after a bite of the burger. It is definitely missing something to bring it all together, every component felt so individualistic on this plate. Ideas for enchantements, perhaps some tomato relish or baked beans or herbed hollandaise. 🤔 Left me so unsatisfied. Wish I got the sticky BBQ ribs I spied from a few tables away.

Pleasantly surprised by the ps burger! Juicy & thick wagyu & chuck patty, with vintage cheddar melted on it then topped with smoked bacon & crispy onions sandwiched between toasted sesame buns. And of course, we happily topped up $5 to upgrade the regular shoestring fries to truffle fries! (Very manageable portion for 2, lessen the guilt 🤪)

Tossed with truffle oil, grated parmesan & parsley 》$16

Crispy and aromatic shoestring fries infused with truffle and lots of grated parmesan cheese. The serving is seriously huge and addictive. I like how it doesn't turn soggy even after it turns cold.

𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝘾𝙖𝙠𝙚 (~$16) definitely is pricey for a slice of cake, but it’s a HUMONGOUS SLICE with 2 layers 🍰. Thick, sweet and sticky fudge coated the entire outside of the cake, and even in between the two dense fluffy layers.
.
Pair this sinful chocolatey slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and light fudge sauce... a small price to pay for joy, right? 🤤👅

♡ Rich chocolate that is not overly sweet, and the cake is perfect for a nut lover!

Served with vanilla ice cream on the side. With tooth-achingly sweet sweet caramel sauce too. The cake was really good. Unmistakable orange flavor and dense butter texture. Orange slices were on the sour side, which delighted me. My companion who loves her sweets ate 3/4 of this and almost licked the plate.

Loved the outside air con seating. Spacing between tables were wide, making conversations enjoyable.

Usually they serve it hot, but they do cold as well at no extra charge. Overwhelming cinnamon taste, with a stick of cinnamon inside the glass.

Was told by the server that this drink used black tea and canned longan fruit. But the longan actually tasted like rehydrated dried longans, which I really disliked. Maybe the bitter black tea made the canned longans take on the Chinese medicine taste of the dried longans I’m not sure. I couldn’t drink more than 1/4 of this. Luckily my companion loves dried longans and polished it off for me.

Initially, I thought I was torching money ordering a $28 roasted half chicken at a fancy cafe. However, PS cafe pleasantly surprised me with this dish. The chicken was tender and plump, and it went terribly well with the mashed potato and purée cream which I was ready to diss. The flavours were pretty complementary and consistently satisfying across all bites. The portion was generous as well, and this is coming from a big eater. Would certainly patronise again on special occasions as the ambience was lovely, great for long conversations over delicious grub. (7.5/10)

This is the first PS cafe if i’m not wrong. It has a smaller seating area which makes it cosy.

The service staff here are really great and friendly! They are attentive and really quick to get your requests seen to.

I tried the Pesto laksa spaghetti which was really good and different from the usual.

Totally understand why this is one of the recommended dishes that keeps popping up in reviews. The sticky date pudding is served warm, and isn’t eligible for the 50% offer after 9pm, but it’s worth it even at full price. It’s a large pudding so it’s good for sharing.

The sticky date pudding is super moist and yummy. There’re some pieces of dates inside which add contrasting chewiness to the soft pudding. The pudding itself isn’t that sweet, but it’s served in a sticky toffee sauce that was a little too sweet for my liking (although I do understand since it’s toffee). The toffee sauce went well with the pudding, and getting a mouthful of the pudding, sauce and vanilla ice cream was the ultimate trinity as the contrasting flavours and textures threw a party for my tastebuds.

PS. Cafe offers 50% off their desserts (note that this only applies to cakes and tarts on display) after 9pm. Note that different outlets have different offer starting times but the one at Paragon begins from 9pm.

There were only the coconut tart and lemon tart left on the menu that were available for this offer and the waitress suggested getting the coconut tart so we tried it. After 50% off the original price of $13, we paid $6.50 for a coconut tart served in condensed milk/coconut milk (?). This tart was pretty good, I didn’t really taste the coconut flavour in the tart though. The tart filling is quite crumbly, and it’s topped with almond florentines. Eating the almond florentines on their own was too sweet for my liking, but they were good with the tart. I didn’t think the milk below added much flavour but it might’ve been to make the tart less dry.

This wasn’t a dish on the menu that would’ve caught my eye under normal circumstances and I probably wouldn’t order it at regular price but it’s worth it at $6.50 as it’s really large and not too bad.
