Soft, delicate with an infusion of hokkaido lavender crepes, sandwiched with floral earl grey cream and garnished with lavender flowers made this a pleasantly delectable dessert. The only concern was I felt that the lavender flavor overpowered the earl grey, but I really love that it is on the not-so-sweet side ๐

Stumbled upon Sumiyaki at the cathay and decided to try it out. The teriyaki don comes with a miso soup($7.80) as a set which is not too bad in my opinion considering the relatively large portion size. They were really generous with the chicken and because it looked so good I had to dig in without filming the egg oops๐

. Anyways the kebabs were a separate order, the buta bara shio(chicken) being $1.50 and the sausage one being $1.90. Another fine-dine restaurant with fancy food art at an affordable price filled with four different sections on menu.

The sweet potato swirl was unexpectedly smooth, but I think due to refrigeration the outer layer tasted abit thicker than the inner layer. The flavour was still good nonetheless!! I love the subtle sweetness of the sweet potato paste and how it came together with the fragrant almond chantilly cream inside. and right below the almond was... MORE SWEET POTATO!! (As u can see from the damage done in the second pic ๐๐) This one had more fibre?? In it and I felt that the taste of this layer played out more. The piping on the tart is also quite aesthetic and honestly thatโs what led me to buying this instead of the rest of the stuff on display in the first place. Thereโs also a sponge right above the tart shell that blended in nicely but I canโt really taste much when eaten on its own. The tart shell was so hard omg was so scared to damage the whole thing with the fork cuz every poke took some intense effort๐ but that just shows how crunchy and crumbly it is when eaten๐. Overall, it was a great first try at the new matchaya and I really look forward to going back and trying the other things!! Any particular recommendations๐??

@frapasbar 's new menu ignited that inquisitiveness. So here I am trying out the set lunch. My choice was grilled vegetables (no pic) namely zucchini, pumpkins, eggplants, asparagus tossed with pine nuts. I found this too oily which made it abit hard to taste the actual sweetness of the veges. Main was seafood bouillabaise with angel pasta. The pasta was aldente. The broth had a tad sweet seafoody tone. Quite nice actually. I would prefer it with much less oil to avoid it being too cloying.

He was really passionate about making a change and trying to change peopleโs minds and encourage them to eat less meat and dairy. The coconut based products they have are all from Thai grown coconuts and include these yummy ice creams. I had a scoop of coconut with activated charcoal and another of their new sweet potato flavour. Both were good with chunks of coconut flesh, but the sweet potato ๐ won me over. I highly recommend dropping by, this place is located just inside the front doors of The Cathay and is brilliant value too. Tip - wait until the ice cream has begun to melt as thatโs when the flavours really come out!
