More Reviews of good food at VCR (Bangsar)

I love me some breakfast food all the time. All day breakfast menus are my favourite. I want to have breakfast food for dinner? Can. This was only until 5pm though, but that’s good enough. I couldn’t decide between the VCR Big Breakfast or this but I settled for this. It has chickpeas (not my favourite) but I took it anyway. I broke the 63 degrees eggs and mixed it all together with the pomodoro sauce and Greek yogurt and dipped it together with the flaxseed sourdough toast with bits of sausages. My day? Made. Will I get this again? Definitely. I’ve repeated this a few times already, it’s so good 😍

Good intention crew who tries to educate me how big a cup of espresso is.. i mean, seriously 😒

but don’t get me wrong, I appreciate you informing customers who blindly order.. VCR, you train the team well!

Like I keep saying, if you want coffee that will not make you cringe or frown, this is the place to go to.. and the food is good (although a tad pricey)

I prefer how they serve kombucha previously, with garnish.. instead of the bottled version

It’s just me, I like things being prepared raw and on the spot

First time stepping in this coffee shop, I have ordered Salmon & Ebi Pao (RM15) for my breakfast. I love the soft white steamed buns that stuffed with deep fried salmon and tiny prawn mix with special sauce. It taste really amazing and more suitable to those who having small appetite.

Is really sad I am not feeling well so I cant try on their coffee. Heard from quite lots of food blogger their coffee is really amazing. So you guys can check it out. I love the environment and the friendly service from them. Definitely will come back again to try out their other menu.

8/10

Not too bad, crunchy crab, soft bun, but took too long to reach (maybe spent too much time on deco? )

Wish they could have more food selection for dinner.

Can’t go wrong with a granola bowl.

So apparently they don’t make an iced piccolo. Honestly have no idea why. Asked them to make a latte with less milk instead. 😂 Tried it with almond milk (+RM2) and I quite like the combination.

(Rating: 4/5🌟) The Naked King (rm13). The cake is a blend of banana, peanut butter and a little bit of chocolate. It’s covered with a rich peanut butter cream frosting and is super moist. There’s even a layer of real bananas in the middle!

Well known for their coffee, VCR also doles out just-as-good brunch stuff. The laidback vibes make it extra welcoming, so bookmark this spot for your next catch-up with a friend. Order the crowd-favourite Pennsylvania Soul (RM25) for crispy fried chicken and potato waffle served with a fragrant chrysanthemum syrup. Also take up Burppler XingWei Cheang’s recommendation for the French Toast (RM19) with espresso ice cream and raspberry compote. It will hit the spot even if you don't have a sweet tooth.

Polenta Shrooms topped with hazelnuts, pomegranate seeds, and sourdough crumble.

✨ The creamy polenta paired with the earthy mushrooms is genius! The mushrooms were seasoned perfectly-- not too salty nor cooked in too much grease, while the polenta carried just the right amount of richness. Combined with the supporting elements of the dish: the pomegranate seeds, sourdough crumble and hazelnuts, this comforting dish made me one happy girl.

💬 I would argue this isn’t very filling, though. It’s not so much a meal on its own but a great accompanying dish you can order to share.

It’s in the name: BIG breakfast. VCR’s main breakfast offering is a plate piled high with sausages, ham, eggs, tomato, salad, mushrooms and a lamb-tomato sauce. My only gripe is that the salad seems to take up most of the plate, rather than being an accompaniment.

French toast topped with espresso ice cream with cookie crumbles, raspberry compote and mocha sauce

✨This french toast had been on my mind ever since my first visit to VCR Bangsar. At the time, the lady who sat in the table next to mine had ordered it and I couldn’t help but continuously take glances at it. So, this time around, I had to get it. My verdict? Good, but only when enjoyed in the dish’s entirety. My favourite element was the espresso ice cream, which was smooth and with just enough of a hint of coffee. The refreshing ice cream paired with the rich, warm toast was heavenly. Nice texture and bursts of flavour were also provided by the accompaniment of the cookie crumbles, pumpkin seeds, mocha sauce and in particular, the raspberry compote. The fruity acidity of the compote brought the ultimate balance to the dessert-- eliminating the cloying feeling that sometimes comes with sweet treats

💬 On its own, the toast lacked the fluffiness and airiness I expect from a good brioche french toast. It could be that my bar for french toast is set too high by Ronin Cafe Singapore's outstanding versions. Wouldn’t say no to having this again though. Teehee.

Really love the combination of the ice cream and french toast. Not so much of the cranberry sauce though.

The iPhone autocorrects this dish as "Salmon Evil Nap" but it is neither evil not nap inducing. The bao bun is soft and pillowy with just enough chew. The salmon is crunchy and well spiced. The shrimp is slightly fishy, but if you're into that then yay! The price however, is slightly evil, but since you're getting lots of seafood it may be warranted.

If you're looking for crispy, spicy (in the "herby" sense, not the "my tongue is burning sense") then this hits the mark! The waffle potatoes are delicious and slowly fills you up. The chrysanthemum syrup has a slight bitter taste, but is balanced off by the sweetness of the syrup mixture and slow bursts of pomegranate. Yummy!

Only available at VCR's bangsar location, this southern inspired dish has a nice mix of colours, tastes and textures. The heaviness of the chicken and waffles are well balanced by the refreshing basil leaves and pomegranate seeds. More pomegranate seeds would be good if anyone out there is listening ! I find their city location (a double storey shop house with loads of natural light) way more charming though. #vcrlovesyou #vcrbangsar

Always start your day with coffee, cause if you don’t, I don’t know what else jolts you awake the way caffeine does.
@vcrlovesyou’s Cold Brew does just that without being too overbearing especially for those who are not used to non-milk based coffees. •
