Rich tea smoked egg wrapped in aburi beef, topped with uni and some seaweed. The yolk within was runny while the white remained pretty solid and ‘sturdy’ to keep the luxe uni secure. It’s a small bite of really intense flavours!!
From the menu specialising in Straits Asian food, we picked the recommended Hainanese chicken curry noodles and Peranakan seafood laksa.
Both dishes had our thumbs up, although the former stood out more for the creamy curry and the big grilled chicken thigh that already got us salivating even before tasting.
The laksa was delightful too, lemak and flavourful in a different way. And it was elevated with the fresh seafood. The sambal chilli provided a good kick, where more could be added for those appreciate the heat.
For more spicy Asian taste, we also had the mantou in chilli crab sauce which was a good variation of our local chilli crab dish.
With such tasty dishes, our experience was well complemented with weekend live music performance while seated under the tall glass ceiling of the Courtyard lounge.
Was disappointed I couldn’t try their signature hotdog bun bc they ran out of bun. However their beef burger with homemade patty tasted pretty delicious. A classic burger that can’t go wrong. Also saddened that there were no options to upgrade the fries to truffle fries. :(

REMARKS:
- What differentiates this from the two Eng's shops, is that they provide a jar of fried garlic that we can help ourselves to. LOVE IT.
- Noodles is the same type as the two Eng's
- Charsiew is torched just before serving, hence the slightly charred edges
- Soup is very flavourful
- Chilli is not very hot. Makes the noodles salty after I added two spoonfuls of chilli in.
- Cucumber lemonade is nice
- Air-conditioned
WILL WE RETURN? Yes, to utilise the 3 remaining Burpple Beyond Deals
Noodles were QQ and slightly hard.
Dumplings and char siew were not bad.
Liked the easy to drink slow-drip coffee more as the flat white had a coconut-y after taste. Super worth it with #BurppleBeyond 1-for-1!

Nice ambience and great food! The truffle mushroom udon was especially good
Make a mental note of this spot for casual group dinners in Jalan Besar. Raved about by many is their umami-licious Teochew-style Lobster Porridge ($29.90 for 2 halves, $55 per lobster). Unless you're really craving a lobster feast, the $29.90 option will satisfy. Add on the tender and chewy Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork (from $14.90) coated in an addictive sweet sauce, and get your snack on with their Crispy Lotus Root With Salted Egg ($11.90) for crunchy deep fried renkon chips drizzled in a creamy salted egg yolk sauce.

Moorish(Moroccan) chicken skewers were utterly badass. Exotic spices along with crunchy and tender chicken pieces made this a stunner. Didn't really like the sourness in the mint sour cream though. The skewers weren't oily so the sourness was redundant
