Heard about Baker & Cook for quite sometimes. Today had a chance to passed by and bought the sourdough bread loaf ‘Pain Au Levain’ $8.20 each. It’s hard and dry with very rough bread skin. Quite disappointed with the purchase. Looks like the rest options might be the same.

The sourness of the Cherry really pierces through the buttery tart crust, it’s perfect for those do not have a sweet tooth but fancy a savoury/sour dessert.

Was shocked to receive such a tiny cake for $6.50 but it definitely made up for it with its flavour! It was packed with moisture and the tartness of the orange kept me craving for more bite after bite. Gobbled down the entire slice in seconds!

Got these traditional buns for the Good Friday and Easter Sunday weekend.
.
The soft, dense hot cross buns are studded with juicy raisins, and the bread is spiced with cinnamon, sugar, salt, and orange zest.
.
This gives it a bready fruity sweet spice flavour. Best eaten hot.

French toast was good, Pancake ain’t so fantastic and the sourdough is over toasted. Overall the ambience of the space is nice, best thing is free parking in the east.

As if the filling and tart become one, I had a hard time differentiating between the raspberry- cake like interior and the tart base. Nonetheless that in no way discount this as a good tart in terms of taste.

“Putting my money where my mouth is” when I vouched to act on visiting Burpple Tastemaker’s Julius recommendation of this place in the East. I should be as baffled as he was when he found out I had no clue of this place despite being an Eastie for 4 years now... This bread basket was my morning dream come true! An assortment of 4 types of artisan toasts; a top notch croissant with the right layers, flakiness, and an extra buttery dimension. Regarding the former- my bias was towards the wholemeal toast which had a nice cereal-y fragrant without the coarse graining texture you get from other wholemeal toast.
The basket is served with 4 types of Baker & Cook’s in house made jams; of which the lemon curd and raspberry variants were too difficult to resist as I requested for extra portions.

Bought this limited edition cake as Christmas cake for my family because it is gluten free. Was pleasantly surprise that the cake was moist and delicious with well balanced flavours.

Home made jam in jars. Thick gluey lemon curd, delightful exotic apricot jam, classic rash berries jam and popular strawberries jam. Really spoiled by choices with these when served. Very impressed indeed.

Light dinner to share for two adults. A very nicely baked croissant and two slices of 4 different bread. They are served toasted with two portion of packed butter. 4 different types of jams to spread on is provided upon request. $10 is printed on menu.

To sip slowly for the coffee tastes.
Slightly stronger than regular brew.

Love the Lemon + Passionfruit Cheesecake [$5.80] as it's not too cheesy. A little bit of sour & sweet taste 😋 Chocolate Indulgence [$5.80] don't really like the texture, it reminds me of "Huat Kueh" 😐

All prices are NETT.

Chocolate Indulgent Cake ($5.80)

The other cake from my decadent afternoon tea was this uglylooking but super indulgent and luxurious chocolate cake. The cake was moist and dense and the milk chocolate shavings on top did the task of giving this cake its crunch and also served to lighten the density of the cake a bit so that one can finish this up! So sinful but so satisfying.

Dropped by and wasn't hungry so we just grabbed a couple of desserts, was pretty crowded on a hot Sunday afternoon, the pavlova was $8 and though it was light and crumbly the balance wasn't there, stingy on the fruit, it was all sweet and not enough sour/fruit to balance it out. Was hard for 2-3 of us to finish that one. The chocolate cake was not bad but not fantastic. Perhaps we picked the wrong pastries, and would have to give the savory food a try another time!

Salted Caramel Donut ($5.50)

I think this photo of the Salted Caramel Donut 🍩 from @bakerandcooksg speaks for itself. The donut is soft and chewy, encrusted with frosting and filled with rich and luxurious 🌈salted caramel filling🌈. It is sinful yet all so satisfying at the same time👌🏼!

Bread Basket. Scrambled Eggs. And @ewanseng Hmm.. Tastes like a great start to Sunday!

One bonus of Plank at Opera Estate is that it's joined with a Baker & Cook outlet, so you can order food from both sides or hop over to B&C for coffee and dessert after a pizza.
Tried out the Apple Crumble Pie Doughnut ($5.5) and I think it comes in 2nd place after my fave Salted Caramel Doughnut now. Love the light, sweet crumbs on the doughnut and can't wait to have this again.

One of my favourite cheesecakes! The cheesecake is really thick and rich, while the passion fruit makes it less "jelak".

Happy to have found a Baker & Cook in the East near Siglap! Paid a visit last Sunday morning and ordered a Spanish omelette and an eggs ben. At $17++ a pop, you's expect the dishes to be mind blowing but sadly they were quite ordinary.
