After 7.30pm, already alot of popular stores here closed liao. Read some good reviews about this place and decided to give it a try.
Prawns were fresh and price was quite affordable. Generous amount of lup cheong.
Ended up with a non spicy plate, guess I may have misheard the stall auntie, definitely will be tastier with chilli. Without it, just tasted a little bland. Next time, I will get the spicy version.
Strong, authentic flavour. But I couldn't find any sardine! At least not chunks of it. Sad.
My go to place for a consistently delicious Penang char kwey Teow with good wok hei.
Unlike most places which use frozen prawns , the prawns used by Jason Penang are freshly peeled prawns which impart so much flavour and texture to the dish - and by the way they are very generous with the use of their ingredients.
The kwey Teow texture is QQ and the bean sprouts are fried till perfect neither to raw or limp.
The fried kwey Teow is also well seasoned - not too salty or oily . Perfectly balanced in every aspect .
Michelin worthy .
As a person who love Penang’s Hokkien Mee so much i have to say this was far from being the authentic one. Sadly the soup base was very diluted and the way prepare was so different than the usual one.
Full of Penang laksa flavour and close to the ones in Penang. Yeah not better than the best there but good enough that you don’t have to fly there for your cravings. They also have Penang Hokkien mee (aka soup prawn mee in Singapore).
This plate of Penang char kway teow was full of Smokey wok hei with a good peanut fragrance ( presumably from peanut oil ). Fried with pork lard , this elevated the aroma of the fish .
You will be pleased that only fresh prawns are used - or rather 1 fresh prawn was used 😂 - that makes it still better than 2 frozen prawns 🍤.
One of the better Authentic Penang char kway teows cooked by a Penang born Chef.
Good to know that standards are always consistent too 😀
I decided to try their Kway Teow after noticing a queue at their stall. Jason is a Son of Penang and was formerly the Chef of the British high commissioner. The Kway Teow was well fried and there's a good wok flavour to it. Although this is no where close to the originals in Penang, this is a good alternative if you are craving for Penang Char Kway Teow.

The bowl at Jason Penang Cuisine was an affordable $6 and it came piping hot with tender fall off the bone pork ribs and fresh prawns, the soup was robust and full of flavor. Perfect for a rainy day like today.
•
There was hardly a line which was surprising as a queue is often a reliable indicator to good food.

I also spied the friendly uncle frying char kway teow over a roaring flame, definitely worth a revisit. #burppleMajulahMakan
Penang Prawn Noodles at ABC Brickworks Market. Even without adding chilli, the soup is CRAZY spicy (for me), not like the usual prawn noodles I am used to. However, despite sweating buckets & having a slightly numb tongue, I drank almost all the soup because it was tasty & addictive. I sure surprised myself!
I wish there were more ingredients in this small bowl ($3), though- might be a sign for me to order the large bowl ($4) next time, hmmmmm?

The wok hei is strong here 😍 pretty small portion but it was good for us to share after we'd all had our own lunches..
Love the #PorkRibs with fall-off-the-bone meat. Wish there were more prawns though, but at least the 2 pieces were fresh. The soup base is hearty too. Not overly salty like some other soups. Plus getting the #Prawn noodles is quite fast as everyone else is lining up for the Fried Kuay Teow which I'm now tempted to try. 😄
Thanks to fellow #Burpple Tastemaker Celest for suggesting this. Any other suggestions from ABC or Alexandra? I'll take it up as my food & photography challenge 😂 #eleglutton
