The New Bridge Road outlet of Song Fa was swamped (mostly with tourists) when I paid it a visit last Saturday but the quality and taste of the dishes I had, were still good. Service was pleasant and efficient as well.
If you are like me and prefer sliced chilli padi, you'll need to request for it as the default here seems to be regular big chillies. The same goes for chopped raw garlic too - it isn't readily available on the table. These two condiments are a must for me. Otherwise, I feel like my "bak kut teh" meal has been compromised.

$18.80 for all day toppoki buffet — 8 different kinds of toppoki are available such as those stuffed with cheese and sweet potato but my favorite was the thin plain rice cake which was softer and more chewy! Though the selection of ingredients was nothing to shout about, I enjoyed that self concocted red sauce a lot! Mix the Toppoki, Dookki, Gungjung and Flaming sauce by following the recommended recipe or based it on your own preference.

With the leftover sauce after finishing your ingredients, you can have some fried rice with kimchi, corn, sesame oil and lots of seaweed — just like how the Koreans do it. And if your stomach allows (ours didn't because we were super full after the rice), you can change to a smaller pot and have Korean ramyeon!

Buffet is $35 per pax, not cheap but it's free flow😰their meat is well marinated, I personally think it's better than many places. Personally like the garlic pork and spicy chicken. Seafood selection has crayfish, prawns, clams, scallops etc, best to cook in soup to make the broth tastier and I will always add vermicelli, seasoned (fake) abalone slices, Chinese cabbage & mushrooms in the soup😍 End it with ice cream and my favourite is coconut flavour. Wonder where can I buy coconut ice cream, I can't find it in supermarts. I only found potong but I dislike the coconut bits. Anyone knows where I can buy coconut ice cream pints/popsicle? Go & try Ycube, only hope it can be cheaper🙏🏻😋

Just a short five-minute bus ride out of NTU, this affordable mookata joint located within a brightly-lit coffeeshop is where you should head to when your craving strikes. Opt for the spicy Tom Yum Soup Base ($3) and get The Platter (from $22), which comes with chicken, pork, seafood and vegetables — enough to feed two people very well. Add on Instant Noodles ($1.50), Luncheon Meat ($1.90) and if you're a seafood lover, an extra portion of the Zesty Marinated Squid ($2.90). It's already included in the Platter but you'll be wanting the extra order. While other squids tend to get rubbery when overcooked, these thick-cut pieces remain soft and chewy no matter how long we cooked them for. Extra portions run out fast, so be sure to check with the service staff on its availability!
Avg Price: $20 per person

This hotpot of cheese contains a mix of mozerella and nachos cheese, it's creamy but not too jelat. We asked for a refill of the cheese cos we finished the first pot! Cheese refills are FOC.
🔸
The premium hotpot includes free flow of seafood from Jurong Fishery Port, including crayfish, prawns, scallops, mussels and Pacific clams. There're also premium meats such as Meltique beef striploin, black pork Kurobuta.

Think this was the best one out of the four fishcakes I've got. With a mozzarella-cheddar filling, it's supposedly stretchy and gooey when you bite into it, but mine was a little cold by then that the filling's gone hard. So please try to eat it hot! I liked the crunchy breadcrumbed exterior and thought this pairing of amook to cheese was well balanced. Pricey for this size though!

Could the magic lie behind massaging their noodles before dry-tossing it in their signature sauce mix? Doesn't matter, take my money! 🤤

If there's only one thing you can order here, let it be the mac & cheese! You wouldn't regret it. The mac used here is of a longer, thinner, straighter tubular type. The cheese used as expectedly is rich and sticky with a layer of cheddar on top, it will certainly progressed from a side and slowly but surely over take the mains. Served pipping hot (it must be!) in a cast iron pan, the M&C is wet on the inside and stick, chewy, yummy on the outside, and the truffle oil used in abundance, giving it a distinctive characteristic like no others.

Absolutely delish! Come over to University Town- NUS to try this now!

The rice: Okay, the rice isn't the best out there. The portion is surprisingly little for the amount you have to pay.

The egg: The menu promises the egg to be cooked perfectly at 62 degree celcius. The yolk was slightly cooked, but the white was still runny. Run of the mill kind of egg, though.

The beef: The star of the dish, the Wagyu beef was absolutely amazing! The combination of both truffle oil and their own made sauce created a slight burnt peppery taste, which was light and savoury! Every bite had a consistently fatty texture that melts straight in your mouth! Very yummy! Do do do try it!

Price: $19.90 (after NUS student discount)
Personal grade: A- (the portion was a tad too small for the price)

Really a splurge (in comparison with the other options in NUS UTown), but really worth it considering the amount of beef they give. And it's suuuper good and tender and feels like it melts juuust slightly in your mouth.
