Newly opened! The Sandwich Hub offers a simple and quick lunch option at an affordable price. Sandwiches are priced at RM7.90 to RM9.90. Was recommended the Sirloin, Shepherd and Indian Ocean. Decided to go with The Sirloin (RM9.90). Meat had good flavour but some pieces were very tough to chew. Served in toasted ciabatta.

Roasted lamb shoulder slices with caramelised onions, slathered with mint mayonnaise on ciabatta bread – what’s not to love? Though there was too much mayo for my liking, it’s still a simple and tasty sandwich.

Of course I had to order the Indian dish. This one of curried prawns was delicious! I had, however, wished for more prawns but given the very reasonable price tag, I still left a happy camper.

Lamb, caramelised onions, mint mayo on ciabatta. Simple and tasty stuff, although they still working out how much mayo to slab on it. Flavours work for a RM9.90 lunch that will fill you up fine.

You know you're in for a treat when the matriarch still helms the kitchen at this Johorean family-run restaurant. For a hearty local breakfast with the clan, begin your day at this casual corner in TTDI. Topping the menu is the Nasi Ambang (RM9.80) — a Johor-style nasi bungkus (packed rice) characterised by the addition of serunding (grated coconut) and a side of fried noodles. Here, it is more modernly presented on a plate but the rendition is reliably tasty, served with either ayam or beef rendang. Those who don't fancy rice in the morning can turn to their Mee Rebus (RM6.50). The thick, yellow noodles swim in a slightly spicy potato-based gravy for an impeccable dish, especially on cooler mornings. Apart from savouries, D'Cengkih is known to hit the sweet spot with their special Lempeng Pisang (RM3.50) dessert. The yummy banana pancake is only available every Friday till Sunday, so the weekend's when you should make your way here!
Avg price per person: RM15

Mee rebus and Soto ayam with some kuih muih at this restaurant that serve wonderful Johorean cuisine.

Despite the challenging on looking for a parking space in TTDI, d'cengkih is always crowded with diner. I love how they present the array of dishes and kuih muih, it's feel like a jamuan to me.

KL's Mee Pok King - Tang House of Fishball handcrafts one of the most enjoyable flat and springy yellow noodles in the city. The Signature Mee Pok (RM6) is served with savoury minced pork, lard oil, slices of fish cakes and pork lard topping. There’s also a jar of Chinese chilli sauce on the side (not the bottled kind), which I highly recommend perusing to heighten the flavour of the otherwise dry dish.

Alternate Mee Pok restos: Tang Pin House of Fishball, SS2 or the several Tang outposts
