Relocating from The Elitist, @1345mookata has finally found a new home at @peopleupsg which is right opposite my parents’ place! You can probably guess how popular they are from the number of tables extending out onto the walkway, despite being forced to move out from their previous location.

I don’t usually fancy mookata because of its oiliness especially the use of pork lard and letting it drip into the broth. But the homemade Chiang Mai style broth here is extremely lightly flavored, even with the pork lard dripping. In fact, the broth was tastier with the pork lard and ingredients. The Mookata Thai BBQ steamboat set is highly affordable, and serves 3-4 pax easily with its assortment of prawns, pork, pork belly, chicken, hot dog, crab meat, fish ball, sliced fish, vegetables, enoki mushroom and rice vermicelli. We also had the a la carte garlic pork which comes with heaps of chopped garlic. The robust flavor and aroma was simply addictive, one of the meats that I’d recommend.

Don’t miss out on their homemade chili sauce especially the seafood sauce of a spicy punch! There’s also an ongoing promotion of 1-for-1 homemade freshly brewed Thai milk tea & Thai green milk tea. Unanimous vote for their Thai green milk tea which had a delicate jasmine aroma and decent sweetness level. Recommended for group dining.

quality of meat was good. the marinade was on point. my rant will be about the prices. did not remember the prices being so ex. ordered garlic pork belly, tom yum chicken and basil pork. the meats were 8 each. hot dog was 5 and tang hoon was 3. and first time i came to know of the minimum order of $30.

i remember the garlic was spammed on the belly in the past too. prices aside, i have to admit the meats were well marinated and the taste did not disappoint. dipping sauce was good too. sweet, spicy and not diluted. garlic pork belly and tom yum chicken are the must orders. the garlic pork belly was good on its own without the sauce. we ordered another serving of garlic pork belly cos it was not filling. a place to visit if u are in a fine dining mood but only have enough cash for mookata.

Definitely the best mookata I have so far. Though it is not ala carte, but because the boss is exceptionally generous, every portion of the meat is considered quite big portion. The most recommended food is their garlic belly. If you really like the smell of garlic, this is definitely the dish for you. The next thing you must and have to try is their special chilli mix. Personally, i dont take chilli, but i will have to take two plate of chilli if i were have to be there. Trust me peeps, its a must try.

Pretty huge portion served with well marinated meat and tasty soup reasonably priced at $32.80. Can't ask for more since it's so near home!
