A rare lunch opportunity at Seah Im Food Centre led me straight to the duck rice stall Iβve been craving. The duck meat is tender, not overly gamey, with just the right touch of herbal flavors. The slightly broken rice is packed with richness, having absorbed all the goodness of the braising liquid.
The sambal chili adds a fiery kick, elevating the dish with its bold heatβdefinitely not for the faint-hearted!
The Chicken Mandi from Two Guys at Seah Im Food Centre offers great value at just $8.50 for a quarter portion of chicken.
The meat is notably soft in texture, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Operating for over a decade, this stall serves a more-than-decent rendition.
.
The thick gloop braising gravy carries savoury salty herbal sour spice flavour, which the chewy thick flat noodles with grainy sweet flavour pick up well.
.
The tender braised pork belly, bouncy braised chicken egg, springy fish cake, and crisp bean sprouts, lend meaty savoury salty herbal eggy sweet flavour.
.
The tender 5 spice roll has sweet savoury spice notes, though their rendition is different from elsewhere. The battered dory fish fillets are crunchy flaky with sweet savoury flavour, yum.

I was hankering for something warm and comforting late in the evening at Seah Im Food Centre. Most of the stalls were closed but Thaksin Beef Noodles was kinda attention grabbing.
Named after that ex-Thai PM (who has apparently visited and enjoyed their food), Seah Im serves Thai Beef Noodles. I am usually not a fan of Thai soup noodles because they tend to be rather salty and MSG-laden.
Thaksin proudly proclaim on their signboard that they do not use Msg. Their signature beef soup was surprisingly good - clear, hearty and robust with nice herbal notes. I love that the soup is earthy and beefy but yet light and refreshing. I don't usually enjoy beef innards because they can be rubbery and tough. Thaksin's tripe though was tender and chewy and their brisket was melt in the mouth tender. Their chili sauce was also refreshing tangy with nice garlic undertones.
I was rather surprised at how good this was and will definitely be back!
After the renovation, decided to give it a try and was passing by.
Although the low price of hokkien mee has been removed and fried oyster had increase for the large portion has increase in price, it didn't affect me that much as I still order the usual portion of $4 each.
Hokkien mee was generous with 4 prawns and fried oyster quantity is huge for the price.
Really miss it when I was working nearby
Curry chicken, sayur lodeh, omelette. Overall okay, but not enough gravy and the belacan was too pungent for me.
Seah Im has become a hive for nasi ayam. This stall, the chicken and the crisps were ordinary. The rice was tasty but also spicy, with the chilli sauce even spicier.
$6.50 Ayam penyet fried to perfection. Chicken is soft and tender and skin is crispy. Self service crispy bits were so good, I wish I took more π€£ chilli acts a kick as well. V satisfying meal
found out the shop replaced by a new mala store. i am so sad :( anyone know where they moved to?
I have missed Aspirasi! Used to have this few times a month when I was still staying in Hougang (and had to take Harbourfront MRT every night π€)
Serving is still generous, and the grease is still how I remember it π sambal has a slight nice kick (not too spicy). You get a free flow of crispy batter as well which pairs well with the rest

Delicious and hearty duck rice that comes with a bit of a queue at Seah Im Food centre. The rice was on the greasier side, while the duck meat was lean but tender. The gravy slathered all over had more herbaceous undertones while still being very savoury. The soup at the side was way too salty though.

Got this twin set of steamed chicken, rice, bok choy and braised egg. Actually a decent choice despite being a very touristy food stop before they head off to Sentosa π Generous serving of Hainanese chicken and fragrant (sometimes dry tho) rice
Love that they have dark soy sauce + ginger available on the side, unlike the usual chili sauce only
