jeez this almost $10 but portion is humongous and i guarantee you itโs p damn good
Niqqi's Cheese Prata Shop is notorious for being the 24-Hour prata shop near NUS, dubbed "NUS Prata".
This is the go to stop for NUS students that stay in the hostels nearby and requires a late night supper spot.
This place used to have parking along the shophouses. Those parking lots have now been removed and replaced with parking enforcement cameras.
The Niqqi Special Cheese Prata onsist of Cheese, Egg, Potatoes. Was expecting something really overly cheesy, but it was more potato-ey instead.
But the curry was rather bad. It had a weird "herbal" taste to it which totally doesn't suit curry whatsoever.

The cheese chicken murtabak was certainly cheesy, and the portion was rather big. Tasted quite good with the overflow of chopped onions.

I had the entire Murtabak thereafter without any curry.
im gonna get maggi goreng pattaya from now onโฆthe omelette is๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ and maggi goreng WHITE somehow tastes sm better than the normal red one. less sweet maybe?
the prata & curry are like extra good in the afternoon omg the prata was overflowing with condensed milk and the prata was crispyyy
Heard about their Cheese Prata quite a fair bit โ after all, Niqqiโs The Cheese Prata Shop is quite the place to around Kent Ridge, but only came by because I hadnโt checked out the opening times of another spot that I was intending to visit in the area.
Kinda understood why there is such a clear split of opinion when it comes to Niqqiโs pratas. It is pretty apparent how Niqqiโs style seems to veer towards very thinly-stretched pratas โ this style seemingly fits their signature cheese pratas very well, though its not quite the same for their plain prata. Found the Garlic Cheese Prata to be exceptionally enjoyable with its soft and fluffy texture that accommodates the stretchy cheese beneath; the garlic being my own must-have for that extra contrast of flavour. Liked how they seemed to have used a more premium cheese than the usual processed cheese that most stalls of its type chooses to use โ makes for a more alluring savoury note and better texture overall as one can actually do a proper โcheese-pullโ while the prata is piping hot. The Plain Prata was lacklustre however; the Prata having been stretched overly thin with gaping holes found in the middle โ something I hadnโt quite expected to see and to be really honest, never seen after all these years having Prata. Given how the dough was stretched so thin, the Prata undoubtedly turn rather stodgy and slightly tough to pull apart and lacks crispness after being left there while I devoured the Garlic Cheese Prata in delight. The accompanying curry was actually pretty decent โ sufficiently rich and surprisingly not too oily; comes with a distinct tanginess without being particularly spicy for those with a lower tolerance of spiciness.
Given how it is located at the far end of Kent Ridge closer to Kent Ridge Bus Terminal rather than the MRT Station, I can see the reason why some wouldnโt really make their way for Niqqiโs for how it does require a bit of effort to get to. That being said, if one does want to give them a go, the Cheese Prata (along with any variant of it) is the one to go for โ probably the item that brings those NUS students back yearning for more.
for $4.50, thereโs just something so comforting and satisfying having this plate of springy noodles, tossed w fried eggs and veges late at night ๐คค it looks so plain but honestly itโs super tasty w just the right amt of seasoning!! u can always add meat if u r a meat lover they have endless options :~)
i always have mine w a side of sausage cheese omelette ($4.50) and itโs honestly the best!! itโs super fluffy; cooked thoroughly on the outside but inside itโs filled w large soft curds of blobby scrambled eggs, the oozy melted cheese (it literally has that pull effect) and ofc the savoury sausage that adds such a nice texture and cuts through the creaminess!!
ps the mushroom cheese omelette ($4.50) is pretty good too but i find it slightly lacking in texture + itโs usually more wet??? as compared to the sausage one!!
Choose your carb, people! Rice ๐ / Maggi ๐ seafood fried rice with bouncy ๐ฆ, not tt fresh prawns albeit oily & perhaps with msg? Tasted good with tt thin layer of omelette &!chilli sauce ๐ ๐๐ share this to share the guilt ๐คฃ @$5.50 (excl. gst & svc charges)
Located just behind my hall, this would be my #1 option for supper place or the alternative to my hall's unappetising food. Some people will complain in spending 5 bucks for a bowl of maggie which they can make at home, but I'd say otherwise. All the squids and shrimps used were fresh (no frozen food ftw!) and the amount of bird chilli was insane (and I love it). They even did a wonderful poached egg for such a humble eateries. Stamp of approval from both me and le bf.
While breakfast was almost unheard of during uni years (unless post-clubbing pancakes from the big M counts), supper was probably the most important meal of the day then. It didn't really matter what we ate or where we would go, but more of who we were with and the endless conversations. There was always something to talk about: from the most trivial things like whining about project mates/professors and heartbreaks, to big life decisions and existential crisis interventions. We would delay going back to our halls/residences for as long as possible โ even if that meant walking back at 1am โ and order more cups of Milo dinosaur or another round of prata just to avoid getting chased away. I really miss those times (and my metabolism rate then๐)! #Hawkerpedia

Supper with the BFF. Maggi goreng/soup never fails to guy that comfort spot. Can't wait for our Europe trip in 6 weeks' time!
Yesterday's post-gym reward was my favourite maggi goreng. Craving satisfied. Workout wasted. Who cares.
The last bit of fuel from the weekend to push me through the start of a new week. Happy Monday, everyone!
