Reviews of good food at Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup (Kaki Bukit 511 Market & Food Centre)

Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup at Kaki Bukit 511 Market & Food Centre is where our Tastemakers Julius Lim and Zhihui Lim would go on nights when they crave a spot of warm comfort. Unlike its other outlet at Kembangan, this stall offers a more consistent, fail-safe experience. $4 gets you a bowl of piping hot black chicken soup with mee sua, topped with your choice of kidney, mixed organs or lean meat. Tastemaker Zhihui loves how the herbal soup is flavourful yet light, the noodles are well cooked, and the kitchen is generous with the ingredients. What's not to like?
Avg price: $5 per person

This Seng Kee outlet in Bedok seems to be more consistent with their soup compared to the outlet near kembangan! The bigger outlet at Kembangan has very spotty service as well and inconsistent soup flavour. It's like rolling a dice to see if you get a nice thick herbal soup flavour or pepper water. That is what makes the bedok outlet my "go to" place for this Mee Sua!

A nice, hot and chicken herbal fused bowl of mee Sua (noodles) with pork kidney and liver. The herbal flavour at this stall is full and the innards are well cleaned, free of bitterness. A satisfying bowl.

This mixed pork organ herbal soup meesua could easily be my favourite late-night supper. Ultimate comfort food!!! Light but flavourful herbal soup, served with lean meat, pork kidney and liver, all of which were fresh and had no weird porky taste. Now I know where to head to if I'm ever hungry before 12mnπŸ˜‹

This is $4 portion, also available in $5/$6/kidney/liver. Not overpowering herbal taste, thick soup. New operating hours: 11am to 12am.

Whenever I hear of Seng Kee, my immediate reaction would be either the bak chor mee at Serangoon Gardens or the herbal soup at Changi Road. Little did I know that there's actually a Seng Lee Black Chicken Herbal Soup near my place.

Fortunately for fellow foodie-in-crime, @rainraineeataway who brought me here, I wouldn't have known of its existence (shame on me). For just $4, you get a choice of either kidney/mixed organs/lean meat cooked in a flavour-packed bowl of hot black chicken soup with mee sua that's sure to satisfy your late night hunger pangs. The stall opens from 11am in the morning till 12am at night.

"Friends who have known me for a long time would know about my rather strict mother. Because of my curfew, a trip down to Seng Kee would a very rare occurrence for me. Those trips could only happen if my club's basketball training would end earlier (which really happened once in a blue blue moon), where my teammates and I would troop down to the outlet along Changi Road for some team bonding over Mee Sua.
I can still vividly remember having my first bowl. One sip of the rich flavourful herbal soup, and I was sold!! Grabbing my chopstick and ignoring how hot the soup was, I tucked in steadily. The mee sua and the fresh pork meat and organs were all on point. The table would be oddly quiet while we wolfed down everything greedily as we were too hungry after training.
However, I returned a few times occasionally to and realised a sharp drop in standard. Till recently, I found that they had another branch at Kaki Bukit Food Market, where the taste and everything was just as I remembered it to be 5 years back! Having a bowl of it now still reminds me of all the post-training bonding session I used to have with my teammates. #hawkerpedia"

We waited a good 35 minutes for this on a Saturday night, but it was so worth the wait! This bowl of meesua came with a generous amount of pig organ and lean meat. Dip the ingredients in the chili soy sauce for a good kick and if you're up for the heat throw in the chili padi into your soup too. The soup is thick and flavorful with a hint of herbal taste but not too heavy at all. I wiped out the whole bowl! Addictive stuff.

The Pig Kidney Mee Sua ingredient is clean & washed by the stall owner ensure that there is no trace of porky smell before throwing them into the soup to cooked. The soup is super thick & the stall owner cooked finish the meesua by adding θŠ±θ°ƒι…’. Those who are craving for supper u can come here. Name:Seng Kee Herbal Chicken Soup & Pig Kidney Mee Sua. Address:Blk 511 Bedok North St 3 #01-31/32. Singapore 460511. Operating Hours:1700hrs to 0100hrs. Closed on Every Mondays.

This stall is known for its pork, liver and kidney mee sua as well as its namesake but what I return often for, is the steamed fish. You pick your fish from what's displayed on ice and inform the friendly young boss if you want chilli or not (if you can take the heat, go for the chilli because it gives the dish a wonderful kick). It is then steamed with finely sliced "kiam chye" (salted vegetables), leeks, tomatoes, chilli padi, julienned ginger, a mashed up "sng buay" (pickled plum) and some "tao cheo" (preserved soya bean). Have it with a bowl of steaming hot rice for what is essentially Teochew comfort food with a hot twist.

This bowl of goodness is no exception. Opens from 12pm to 12am daily, Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup is the place to go for any late night cravings.

The most ordered item is definitely the Herbal Mee Sua ($4/$5/$6) which comes with a combination of pig's kidney, liver and lean meat. Whilst the black chicken soup has a mild herbal flavour, you will be hit with a strong sesame oil aroma upon the first slurp.
