Yong Tow Foo Bee Hoon Soup

Two words: Not Good. It looked like fried oyster and black carrot cake but tasted nothing like it. So plain like amateur cooking, indeed very disappointing. The fried oyster was simply awful.

Tangs has its own food court at the basement serving various food cuisine including this.

Their pork chop was crunchy but felt the taste was a bit blend. Curry was okay. $5.80

You have probably been to TANGS Orchard area but did you know that TANGS Market are selling affordable local delights @tangssg basement in town? 😋

Its fragrance was no joke when the cook handed the plate over 🤤 I'd say Char Kway Teow is extremely sinful but can be very satisfying if done well so I'm glad this plate wasn't overwhelming heavy or oily but was more to the sweeter side and could be better with stronger wokhei/smoky flavour 😋

Also, do look out for other delicacies there such as Tiong Bahru Chwee Kueh, 85 Redhill Teochew Fishball Noodles, Hainanese Curry Rice, Famous Penang Road Chendol & Ban Chang Kuih, KL Claypot Rice, Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo, Popiah, Rojak and more!! 🤤
Have a great week ahead then 🤗

With fluffy chicken rice.
Add some dark soy sauce & chilli garlic.
Tender meat.
Chilled sugarcane juice iced.
Satisfying meal.

At the Tangs foodhall run by the fei Siong brand is this stall selling pau and small eats like chwee kueh and chee Cheong fun and glutinous rice .

The stall doesn’t advertise but this is the same nam kee pau brand that you see at ion basement / Bugis / centrepoint basement food street etc .

Apart from their pretty good small handmade paus ( is which the Tau sar is seriously addictive ), they serve a pretty good glutinous rice .

The rice is cooked just nice without being too soft or greasy and the chicken strips are tender .

Pair it with their homemade sambal for a little oomph .

A pretty affordable mid morning or afternoon snack .

Not too bad for something found in a department store food hall. Not too dry nor wet but could use more wok hei.

At the food court at Tangs is a Nonya delicacy shop dishing out a good variety of mains and kueh .

Not the best I would say but good enough for a quick meal in the heart of Orchard.

Their dry mee siam is interesting because it comes with a splash of gravy that has a hint of coconut milk.

It would be better if some bean sprouts were thrown in for some crunch and variation because the whole dish was lacking of some fibre and contrast .

Sad that they use a microwave to heat up the mee siam ( which I disapprove ) but these days - which food vendor really cares?

I wouldn’t recommend that you get the rice set too late in the evening because I had a bad experience of hard and dry rice which was just thrown in the microwave to be warmed up.

Skip the kuehs and go for their mains 😊 ( early ) .

The “beehoon” or rice vermicelli is pre-fried in “rempah” so the strands are a vivid orange in colour and already a bit spicy. Although this is touted as “dry”, there is a bit of thick sauce ladled on around the side which tastes like a reduction of the Mee Siam gravy. I like it actually as I think the dish would be a bit too dehydrated otherwise. For toppings, there are pieces of “tau pok” (saturated in the same gravy) and a whole hardboiled egg. Not bad in terms of portion size either.

Quite bland for me. I prefer more seasoning. Not enough wok hei.

At Tangs basement we like this Klang Be kut teh. It comes with some slices of fatty pork. The herbs is wrong enough and lots of garlic

We rate this 8.5/10

This Penang version was less sweet and not as heavily-flavored. The Kuey Tiao was fried over very high heat with soy sauce, specially-concocted chilli paste, eggs, prawns and assorted ingredients. Very tasty and had the wok hei flavor!

Feeling under the weather so decided to take the healthy route. The soup was flavorful. But bcos I forgot to ask them not to put pork lard, there was a layer of oil floating on top. Not so healthy after all. Still prefer the dry version, but will opt for this (without lard) for lower calories.

$1.20 each! How can sthg so cheap taste so yummy?! Not sweet, and very peanutty. Crispy and hot. Perfect local dessert after a meal.

Oh my goodness this was da bomb! Fragrant rice with just the right amount of black sauce, and generous amt of boneless chicken thigh pcs. Free flow garlic made me so happy. There were crispy bits of rice at the bottom, and the best thing was that the rice didn’t stick to the pot. This must be the best claypot rice I have ever tried!

This was the hokkien version, not peppery at all. Soup was wonderful, a lovely meaty broth seasoned just right. Free flow garlic! Got ribs, pork belly slices and bean curd skin. Very my style.

I liked this even better than the wonton Mee. The dumplings were meaty, with prawns inside. Lots of gravy for my noodles. Delicious!

A popular spicy Chinese Malaysian noodle dish made with homemade Chinese's egg noodles & flavored with crispy & spicy roasted chili paste, savory meat, fried anchovies & poached egg. I asked for extra spicy & it was so delicious that I ate up the entire bowl of carbs. Picture to prove that it was so delicious, I left no residue! 😋

The Chili Ban Mee served at Tangs foodcourt was pretty decent for food court standard ! Generous amount of ingredients and runny onsen egg, this bowl of goodness is well priced at $5.50!
