Had the chance to try a couple of their donburi and other dishes as well:

> Beef Steak Don
> Saba Don
> Salmon Don
> Buta Yaki Don
> Tori Kara Udon
> Samurai Unagi Aburi Maki

The most memorable don has got to be the Spicy Salmon Aburi Don. Somewhat like a deconstructed Champion Floss Maki, the salmon pieces were piled atop the rice, along with golden globes of ikura that burst in your mouth with every bite. Again, the sauce can be a little rich so it does bogged you down after a while.

Used to always go for their Champion Floss Maki when I was in the Kovan neighbourhood! Got to try it again this time round and it was exactly how I remember it to be. The salmon was aburi-ed before being piled with a generous serving of chicken floss, tobiko and mayo sauce. Somewhat like an over-the-top sushi, it can get jelak if you attempt to finish it by yourself, so this is great if you're dining in a group!

Here’s what goes into the maki: sushi rice rolled with cucumber and aburi salmon sashimi, further topped with house-made mayonnaise sauce, further topped with chicken floss and ebiko.

In terms of appearance, it just looked like it was over-flowing with mayo, floss and roe.

The shiok-ness comes from the creaminess of the sauce sliding with the fluffy flossy and crunchy ikura. The thick slices of salmon also added that buttery richness that kind of melted in the mouth.

Yuba Hut will also be offering 50% OFF second bowl of Rainbow Soba Protein Bowl ordered. Till end Dec 2019. More details: bit.ly/yubahut

🍽 FUD FOR THE TUMMY
• Spicy Salmon Aburi Don ($15.90)
• Champion Floss Maki 8pc ($16.90)
• Chicken Mini Hotpot - Spicy Kimchi Soup ($15.90 +$1)

Super value for money donburis and omg I didn’t check for their promos before order😩 They were having some 1-for-1 salmon maki and I thought they removed the bibimbap alr. But I ordered their signature salmon aburi don and it was yummy + super filling. Mummy had the buta yaki don which was super cheap???? Okie my next post’s still gonna be on Yuba Hut cuz sushi is life and selected donburis are -$2 off!!

🍽 FUD FOR THE TUMMY
• Salmon Aburi Don ($14.90)
• Buta Yaki Don ($9.90)

We tried the Chicken Mini Hot Pot ($15.90) & added $1 for Spicy Kimchi Soup. Soup base was good (reminded us the taste of instant ramen) but not spicy at all 🤔 Ingredients were basic & ok but definitely the quantity was miserable for the price 😐
🍜
Salmon Aburi Maki ($15.90 for 8 pcs) was a must have for my girl
🍣
Salmon Sashimi ($6.90 for 3 pcs) was good. Love the thick slices
🍣
Tamago Mentai ($3.60) & Garlic Honey Chili Edamame ($3.90) were good ‘snacks’ too 😋

The century egg rolls were quite good - the sauce was rich and creamy, but not too overpowering. Similarly, their samurai unagi maki was melt in your mouth and quite well done. However, for the price, which is comparable to places like Koh Sushi at Wisma, the portions were a little small. The meal can get pretty pricey since portions are not big, especially if you order a variety to share.

My girls were wowed by the Salmon Aburi Maki ($8.90) & Tamago Mentai ($3.60) 😍 Indeed we were super happy to have these delicious Japanese cuisine in our neighborhood 😘 Sidenote: be prepared to wait though. Business was really good when it comes to good food. We waited for about 30mins and we were pre-warned at the point of placing our order 😉

Not a bad decision at all 😀
We love the Beef Steak Don ($15.90) - Steak was tender & slightly sweetened with the sauce & the rice was soft & nice when mixed with the onsen egg 🥚
Champion Floss Maki ($9.90) looked rather messy but the taste was good. It was salmon & tuna sashimi wrapped with seaweed, drenched with mentaiko mayonnaise & drizzled with abundance floss. We hardly needed the wasabi & soy sauce 🍣
Garlic Honey Chili Edamame ($3.90) was good! We enjoyed sucking on the garlicky torched surface before savoring the goodness inside. But we couldn’t detect a single trace of honey though 🍯
All was good except that we had to make 3 trips to collect our 3 dishes when the same buzzer vibrated and each interval was less than a minute. Hmmm couldn’t the order be optimized at the customers’ convenience & comfort? Room for improvement 🤔

Another great budget don place! Their lunch promo is really affordable at $12.90 and comes with free refillable green tea. This aburi salmon don really hit the spot- perfectly charred and with great teriyaki-like sauce. Really great. My friend tried the barachirashi and really liked it too, except for the fact that there was more tuna than salmon, but there was swordfish, so that’s quite worth it. Would come back here if I’m nearby!

Generous on the ingredients. Very filling. However, there is a tad bitterness. Will be back for the spicy salmon aburi don!

finally tried this!!! generous salmon, just enough to accompany the rice. but portion may be kinda small for a big eater. will definitely visit again to try their maki! :-)

I enjoyed the barachirashi don more than the maki roll as they gave a generous amount of fresh sashimi cubes. 2 portion of well-marinated fish to 1 portion of rice tasted very satisfying! It’s probably not comparable to the chirashi don served in the high-end jap restaurant but if you are having a sashimi/chirashi craving in the nearby neighbourhood, this is a good bet.

#tip #solodiners - it’s quite a small place so there are limited seats. Do be prepared to share tables with others. It’s a great place for takeaways to dine home alone :)

But I wish the chirashi don had more SALMON instead of the huge chunks swordfish, I don't like. Super value for money in my opinion though!

Find them at Kovan Heartland mall - @yubahut!

Can’t get enough of them! Generous amount of really fresh ingredients, I swoon with every bite I take 😍

Decided to get the Champion Floss Maki this time round and man was I blown away. The combination was great and everything just fell in place nicely 💓

It’s not your typical run-off-the-mill salmon aburi sushi. This is packed with cream cheese so gao I feel jelak by just having one. Good for sharing!
