The undisputed star of this heritage restaurant. Some of their dishes are already very interesting - this is not only old school but delicious. Each piece is large, but the showstopper is the ginger sauce encased with it. Taste it and you know the kitchen is no pushover.
The weekends have been so enjoyable as of late #1, with time to roam Geylang on a Saturday evening to hunt for food (not advisable to do alone as a female). The Skewer Bar was my take out choice for my birthday this year aka when our nation went into circuit breaker mode, so to be able to dine in at the restaurant-bar this time round was something to be thankful about. The ability to plow through a menu, discover new items in successful rounds of orders- choosing to add on and having the liberty to order again was something we did not appreciate before.
TSB delivered just like they did as a takeout option- some of the items I’d return for was this piping hot grilled eggplant with kick ass chilli; tender grilled squid and the shishamo - oh that glorious beads of egg roe within and a crisp exterior.
It’s essentially chee cheong fun stuffed w youtiaos but this dish was so unique & really good! Youtiaos were crispy even tho they were soaked in the sauce & the rice rolls were just the right thickness! Don’t see this at other dim sum places so we would definitely come back for this (& maybe even try their other rice rolls bc they got a variety!)
Beef Bánh Mì ($4.50) + Pâté ($1)
Pâté is the way to go! I consider it an essential in a Bánh Mì. As the Beef option doesn’t come with it, I added some.
Beef is surprisingly good, for someone who usually go for Ham option, I like the tender and juicy beef a lot.
If you love spicy, their chilli is 🔥
Recently featured in many media platforms, @reimondoseafoodcongee is a new addition to the hipster hawker clan at Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre L2. Starring silky Cantonese-style congee that’s cooked in a Japanese-style umami-rich stock, the fresh seafood are first stir-fried in a wok over high heat before being mixed in, so as to infuse the desired wok hei into the congee.

❗️I noticed the #FoodKingGood banner hanging at the stall already... so ya you know what to do right to avoid the queue😉

We got a side of potato to share. I can never say no to duck fat potato anything. Always loved it since I had them at Madison's in shanghai. Can hardly find them here in singapore though.
Overall for 2 pax we spent about $150 for 1 side, 2 mains and a small custard pudding to share
Had the lunch set ($35.90++) and topped up $10 for the C&C&C&C pasta which was honestly worth it as I thought it was rly tasty and interesting. Ordered beef cheeks for main course but it got gelat towards the end with too much potato and cheese
KEBABS are always an amazing meal to have if done right. Managed to secure a table at the eleventh hour at the highly coveted @miznonsg - Singapore’s first Israeli restaurant. Hailing from Tel Aviv, the pita bread that’s based on a secret recipe is air flown frozen from Israel. I wanna go back again for their KEBABS.
Abu Kebab ($24). It’s one of the bestsellers here - Beef and lamb meatballs, tahini, chilli, salsa, pickles, onions and parsley. Highly recommended if you eat beef and lamb. These meatballs are HUGE and FLAVOURFUL. I feel that this sorts of justify the price point.
I've been here before, but this was my first time at No. 5 Emerald Hill when the sun was still up 😂 Sitting at the bar alone, my eyes wandered around & couldn't help but notice the tank of vodka with lots of chillis in them.
Introducing.... No. 5 Emerald Hill's Grey Goose Chilli Vodka Infusion 🤯 The fiery red chillis sit in the vodka for 3-4 months, really lending their spicy flavour to the liquor. I had to have a shot of this or at least try at 1 of their cocktails..
.. But which one? 🤔 💭

the bara chirashi ($19)has generous amount of chunky sashimi especially salmon cuts 🍣👅 the rice is drizzle with a light unami sauce absolutely love it and a sashimi craving fixed👍
I intended to have just 1 drink, but was impressed by my 1st one that I had to order another. I chose the Green Hills of Africa #1935 ($17+), which has a base of rosemary-infused pisco. A refreshing turmeric & tamarind cocktail, it had citrus notes as well, which I thought was a great drink to end my night with.
I am excited to return to try the rest of their cocktail menu. Good cocktails are really growing on me lately, especially those with unique flavours which look & taste like much research, thought & effort have been put into them.
