Decided to order nasi lemak ($4) + 1 veg ($1) but then their selling point was their fragrant rice and sweet chili according to my colleague. But their chicken wing really slightly oily tbh and overall its just nice to eat.

Pass. Rice is green so semi-interesting. I hate fully cooked eggs.

I finally tried this. Chicken wing, egg, brinjal. It wasn't filling but maybe I was hungry.

This stall serve nasi lemak in sets or you can build and customise it with your choice of dishes. I chose to have mine with chicken wing, otah, sambal goreng and of course sambal chilli! The sweet and spicy sambal chilli is good and pairs well with everything. I don't mind eating just coconut rice with their sambal chilli.

There's always a snaking queue to this stall. Not the best nasi lemak but decent enough. The portion served is quite big and pretty worth the price paid.

From Hi Leskmi Nasi Lemak; $3.50 only for this colourful set.
Brisk queue.
Simple combinations in photo menu right below the stall signage.
Loved the chilli paste.

You can’t go wrong with whichever stall that has a long queue, like this one at night.

With 3 sets on the menu that offer different variations that include chicken wing, fish and otak. Each set also comes with egg, vege, peanut, ikan bilis and chilli sauce.

You also can choose from other dishes available to add on to your set.

There has never been a time when a queue isn’t spotted in front of this corner stall at Whampoa Makan Place and hence I knew I had to try it out.

There were hits and misses in this plate; while the portion of each ingredient was reasonable, it would have been better if the fried chicken wing was hot and had a crispy batter, and if the otak was more lemak. What stood out was the sambal belacan, although sweeter than spicy, yet not losing its kick. The rice had a fragrant coconut milkiness which was a perfect match to the sambal belacan, and am glad to see that it wasn’t overdosed with green colouring!

You know it’s probably good stuff when you spot a queue at Hi Leskmi Nasi Lemak.

I always believe that the major elements that make a good Nasi Lemak are the Sambal Chili and Rice. The sambal is on the sweet side and the taste is on point while the rice is lacking the coconut aroma. For the Chicken Drumstick, it is crispy and well marinated but on the dry side. The Otah here is tender and flatter compared to other Otahs out there.

Overall, I have to say this plate is above average but not spectacular(like the one in Adam Road).

Cheap & good nasi lemak found here at Whampoa Food Centre! This stall always has a queue, and i can see why.

The rice & sambal chilli (2 components which makes or breaks a nasi lemak for me) were both excellent, and there were a variety of ingredients to choose from too! I would recommend getting the chicken wings as they were very crispy & nice.

There are two sides of this hawker centre, one that’s besides the wet market, operating more for the morning crowd, while the opposite caters more to the lunch and dinner crowd. Over at the latter, there’s a nasi lemak stall that you’ve noticed a long snacking queue come peak hours and they actually serve a pretty decent plate of nasi lemak. To me, both the sambal chilli and rice are the two most important elements in nasi lemak, and Hi Leskmi nailed the sambal but fall slightly short of the rice due to a lack of the coconut aroma. However, what they did well are their chicken wings and sambal goreng, which you should totally order when you’re here.

Can't resist Hi Leksmi's Nasi Lemak and chicken wings every time I'm here but am solely disappointed by the batch of wings I had yesterday. These were fried a tad too long and ended up being too dry. Taste wise it's still good though.
