[Hawker Centre]

Old Airport Road Food Centre is well known for its wide variety of delectable hawker eats. One of them is Roast Paradise which is in a humble stall at one corner. The well charred char siew caught my attention almost immediately.

For the 4 of us, we had the following

Triple Roast Platter
Which consisted of
Char Siew 叉烧,
Roast Pork 烧肉, and
Roast Duck 烧鸭
Rice 饭 (S$1) x 2
Hakka Noodles 客家面 (S$3.20) x 2

The well charred fatty char siew was well caramelized, served with a special savoury sweet dark sauce. The fatty roast pork was served with a sweet mustard sauce. Love its crispy crust. The roast duck was more boney than preferred. The Hakka noodle which looked like mee poh, was topped with minced meat and chopped spring onion. The noodle may looked plain, but tasted simply yummy with lard oil in it. The plain looking rice was savoury too, similar to chicken rice with hints of garlic, ginger, and lard oil in it.

Don’t forget to help yourself to the soup at the counter which was full of cabbage and chunks of tender pork. The broth was well flavoured and tasted distinctive of Dang Gui 当归 (Chinese Angelica) .

By the way the hawker centre will closed for 4 months due to renovations from June. Guess I just made it before the upcoming closure.

Thi was one sinful meal with roast paradise. Chose the three types of roasted meat so that I could try all at once, but realised that the char siew sio bak combination would’ve sufficed considering the normal tasting roasted duck. The char siew on the other hand, blew my mind. It has the perfect char and fat to meat ratio, and flavourful bite to it. I personally don’t like the normal sweet char siew with rice lathered in the sauce, so this was different and way better. The roast pork was juicy, though I was hoping its skin would be crispier. Tried their lava egg as an add on but it wasn’t anything unexpected, would just focus my energy on the char siew and roast pork in the future😍

💡: On par with KL 海外天 Overseas Restaurant😍 - approved by family! especially for their premium char siew highly recommended 💯

i cannot stop raving about the sweet fatty char siew 🤤 so sinful but so good!!!! i had roast paradise before but not their premium fatty char siew which exceeded expectations 💗 the chunky crunchy pork belly served fresh and hot was next to clear 🤪 followed by a close fight between the tender roasted duck and lean char siew ✨

For sides other than rice 🍚 which u must get to balance out all the juicy fats 😂 The cabbage soup (self service) is so addictive packed with the aromatic flavor from the duck bones and sweet cabbage 🥬 their mee pork with housemade spicy sauce really dealt a punch as well 🥵✨

overrall, 💯 return for the premium caramelised char siew - on par with msia top tier standards 😉💗

Thick cuts of char siew with Hakka noodles. The char siew is made from pork belly hence the slightly fattier cuts. The fat-to-meat ratio of a pork belly results in a tender juicy bite with a slightly charred and caramelised exterior. I chose to skip the rice and went for their Hakka noodles which looks plain but turned out surprisingly good. The noodle was a perfect match, cooked till al-dente and drizzled with lard oil 》$5.80

roast pork isnt that great tho just get the charsiew!! vvv caramelised i love

Look, I know @roastparadise has been slinging out highly acclaimed roast meats since…2016? 2017? Yes, they’ve been around for years, and it’s only in 2023 that I’ve finally cleared my calendar to sample their sustenance.⠀

Their claim(s) to fame are their char siew (BBQ pork) & siew yoke (crispy roast pork), so it was only right that I get both greatest hits with rice ($5.50 a bowl). The rice was subtly flavoured, almost like a slightly bland chicken rice, and it’s definitely a slight upgrade on regular ol’ white rice. As for the meats, the char siew retained a surprisingly excellent texture & chew despite being chopped into small bits. The exterior of the char siew, which was lovingly lathered with copious amounts of char siew marinade, transformed into a crisp crust cocooning the fatty pork within. The charred exterior is crisp and it will stick to your teeth.⠀

As for the pork itself, it was insanely fatty, and I could see it getting surfeiting after a couple of servings. Still, the meat was more than amply flavoured thanks to the char siew marinade penetrating deep into every meaty morsel, and the amount of fat was a tad overkill when it came to lubing up the mouthwatering meat. Unfortunately, the roast pork performed poorly. It was chopped into such thin slices that the crunch of the beautifully browned rind was wasted, and a porky musk permeated the fat on the pork. Bit of a shame really.⠀

In all fairness though, at just $5.50 a bowl for both roast pork variants over rice, it’s quite an economical deal. Plus, Roast Paradise has got cabbage soup that you’re more than welcome to help yourself to. Roast Paradise might be sorta overhyped, but don’t let that distract from the fact that their char siew is mad decent.

Previously it was disaster, had it this time during dinner so it's better, at least it's not cold

The char siew glaze was great as before, there's a bite, it's not the super tender kind but the texture was pleasant

Siobak was slightly crispy, but still quite greasy even tho it's not as bad as it was before(I requested for a less fatty part)

Rice was nice, it's got a mild umami

Overall pretty decent this time, worth a try if you're in the area

It was one of the best shao rou that I have ever had in SG! Had expectation because of the rave reviews I had from people but it was as good as I have imagined it to be! The char siew was on the sweet side, the caramelisation was amazinggg

Not sure if they hardsell me but they made it sound like 200g is the minimum for ala carte.

This was DISGUSTING. I went at 3pm? And everythibg on the plate was literally COLD. If you thought coming at weird times to avoid the crowd is a good strategy, you're dead wrong for this stall

Siobak had a gradient of fat to lean ratio. The fatter end was pretty much inedible. Heavily salted too at the surface. However despite being cold some parts still had a very strong crunch

Char siew had a really solid glaze that's sweet. That's the only aspect that makes me think they're raveworthy. Otherwise it's actl a very lean cut, not very well charred and thus no crunch at all, and the meat itself didn't have the best texture. Just average for something of this leanness.

Sauce was like char siew glaze but with a much stronger savoury slant.

Very, very disappointed. I went to the branch at paya lebar before and was blown away. Yet the original is so unprofessional, serving cold food

My favorite char siew and roasted pork rice. They have good combination of thick but yet juicy. I like that they use pork belly for their charsiew!

Even for takeaway and looking like this, this was very good. The char siew was moist and smoky, while the roast meat was fatty and crispy. And I appreciate the rice was chicken rice, not white rice.

Went at 6pm on a Friday and surprised that they were not sold out and no queue either! We got the small charsiew rice ($4.50) which I guess is really meant for small eaters. However the charsiew was real good! Juicy, charred and sweet, they're easily gone with a few bites. I guess quality >quantity. Will most probably buy it again if there's no queue.

There are generic roasts and there are the cream of the crops, and Roast Paradise falls at the top of the food chain. I cannot rave enough on how good their char siew is; strong roast aroma, sticky sweet caramelised meat and the perfect meat to fat ratio. Their roast pork is the benchmark that what all roast pork stalls should envision to be, any lower standard and we should not waste our calories on it. Paired with Roast Paradise’s garlic rice and tangy chilli, it’s really a perfect combination that one could ask for.

Decided to try after seeing long queue and read good reviews about the stall. Curious to know how good it is until people so kiasu to queue 😂

It’s a very fatty char siew meat slices, the meat to fat ratio is heavier on the fat side. Personally I’m quite ok with it. The roasted pork also quite crunchy, accompanied with the sauce.

Overall, it’s good but not spectacular roasted meat rice.

Upon constant recommendation by a good friend, we decided to give the highly-acclaimed Roast Paradise a go. Being very accustomed to the quality that Fatty Cheong provides, this place clearly didn’t disappoint.

What made it stand out was the relatively darker and glazed KL-style char siew with a very SOLID ratio of fat to lean meat. It’s especially pleasing to someone with a palate on the sweeter side like myself. The game changer for this stall was indeed their homemade Hakka Noodles can be added on (and I highly insist you do). Each bite was super springy and soft, giving the noodles a very “Q” texture.

This was EXCEPTIONAL, especially from young owners who’re just around the 30y.o! As unassuming as it seems, the meepok were evenly coated with some secret oil (yes, calories, fats and fast track to paradise), with every single strand being cooked al-dente. Who doesn’t love springy noodles?! The young owners have mastered the skills of charring their charsiew to the perfect balance of tender insides, with charred (& sweet!) ‘crust’. The roast pork was cackling kinda crispy and the minced pork - again, as unassuming as it looks - were packed with flavours. There has to be some sorta secret seasoning in there!!

Oh. Not sure why there’s laupasat on the bowl but am pretty sure the legit outlet is the one at Old Airport road 👌

If you have not tried the meats from Roast Paradise before, they are undoubtedly one of Singapore’s best roast meat stalls. If you are getting the ala carte order of their roast meats, they are priced by the grammage and you will feel that every bite is worth your money, especially the nicely caramelized KL style char siew. The cut of char siew here is fattier than others which gives it all the flavour and oiliness that coats your lips beautifully. To me, the best part are the charred ends, which gives a slight bitterness to contrast with the sweet savoury marinate. An absolute must-order if you are here at Old Airport Road Food Centre.

Roast Paradise's Kuala Lumpur-style Char Siu is meticulously basted for 3 hours over charcoal, creating a fragrant, sweet and crispy caramelized coating. We ordered ours the extra decadent way, on top of Hakka style noodles 🐽😁!

It’s so delicious! I love both and the price is $6.9 for 100g
