More Reviews of good food at Sin Ming Roti Prata (Sin Ming)

The mutton curry is unconventional but don't like the salty sweetness.

Having these coin prata at Sin Ming Roti Prata for breakfast might have been the best decision ever. These crispy bite-sized treats are freshly made to order, so they stay hot and flaky without being too greasy! The best part is the layers within are still soft and chewy even though it's cooled down a little after all the photo-taking. 🤭⁣

Personally think the curry is equally important when it comes to good prata, but the chicken curry here is the gao gao, savoury type perfect for dipping your pratas into! The meat was fork-tender, and the moderate spice level wasn't overpowering! Was told that their fish curry is even better, so I guess that's something to look forward to in my next visit! 💯⁣

P.S.: Go during off-peak hours to avoid the queue. ⁣

The coin prata set comes with 6 pcs of hot and fragrant coin prata that is crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. What’s good about these coin prata is they weren’t overly oily and their fish curry is good and savoury with a hint of sweetness and sourness. I like to have my prata the traditional way, dipping my kosong prata in sugar or a combination of sugar and curry.

Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The size is nice and makes for a good bite. It was a hit with the kids.

Which camp are you on? Team Crispy or Team Doughy?

Personally, I love crispy prata & my go-to is Sin Ming Prata! Located within the industrial estate & tucked within a coffee shop of an old HDB, expect snaking long queues when you visit this little store.

However, your queueing will be worth the wait as piping hot, freshly flipped crispy prata will be served to you, alongside hot, spicy, flavourful curry of your choice! We usually go for the fish or vegetable curry, which are both of the lighter / less oily side, giving you that extra kick that you need without overpowering any flavour.

As simple as it goes, having the kosong (aka plain prata) by itself is all you need to test if the prata's good 😌

If you're in the area, I urge you to give this a go! It trumps the one that's situated along the main road #iykyk

Plain prata has a good mix of crisp outers and doughier insides, I thought it was p nice! The egg one also had crispy tops and bottoms, and soft eggy bready insides.
Curry is moderately spicy, but not too spicy such that I had to drink water, but still gives some sort a kick. Had quite a bit of that tomato ish sweetness I feel! Not v thin, there’s some beans texture to it. I don’t eat prata often but this satisfies! I enjoyed these and would come again.

Newer outlet with a more extensive menu, this outlet is located near Lower and Upper Pierce Reservoir making it a good breakfast spot after the walks. Or in our case escape from the morning showers.

Other than their must have Coin Prata, this outlet offer interesting flavours like Garlic Prata, Banana Prata, Chicken Floss Prata as well as sinful yummy Murtabak and Roti John.

As usual, it's very good. Cripsy outside, soft inside, with a hint of sweet, and pour (no more dip for me 😆) fish savoury curry, shiokkkk.
💰$4.

Supposedly the best coin prata in Singapore. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Waited for 10 minutes quite fast. Goes very well with the chicken curry!

I had really high expectations for the coin prata as I have read so many reviews raving about it. However, it didn't quite blow my mind. Yes, the prata coins are very crisp but I didn't find the insides fluffy as described by others. It was really quite ordinary, and I much prefer their normal roti prata.

I have nothing but praise for this prata - so simple-looking but so incredibly executed! It was crisp and doughy in just the right places. The curry that accompanied it was also really good - it was actually decently spicy and thick. I really enjoyed each bite of my curry-soaked prata. 😋

I was a bit apprehensive to order the curry chicken initially, as I was afraid it would be a really small portion like other Indian food stalls I patronized before. Hence, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the portion of chicken served was rather HEFTY. I had at least half a breast and a wing - that is a win for me! The chicken was cooked just nice as well, nothing too tough or powdery here. I will definitely order this combination again the next time I am here.

$4 for 3 plain and 1 egg prata :)
$4.50 for one fried chicken drumstick!!! :(
Prata was good. Layers were very obvious. Almost like a croissant prata. Plain was much better than egg. Yummy!

Now comes to the highlight of this stall other than coin prata. We asked Mr.Mohammed which murtabak we should go for (Chicken VS. mutton). Chicken murtabak is what he suggested. The murtabak skin is crispy in a polite way (no crackling sound) with plenty of onions and chicken strips. So fulfilling and delicious!! (not greasy at all as you won’t notice oil trace on the murtabak skin like some other places).🧐😄
.
The murtabak is as usual come with sauce but you can level up with mutton curry if fancy. Wish we can try sweet prata but this will be a good dangling carrot for our next outing!! 😜

“When there is a will, there is a way”. Been here twice after trekking at Windsor Park but never quite make it as the stall is close by then. This time we arrive to the stall at 6 pm.😃
.
Read so many reviews as the stall is famous for its pratas (some claims that the standard drops) but we so much appreciate hard work of the ‘main man’ 👨 Mr. Mohammed who is kind enough to let us observe how coin prata is made while we really feel the searing heat as we stood nearby the big griddle.
.
From the start to the finish, stretching and folding the dough the “coin prata” $4 (mini fried flatbread) is well worth our spending. They were served with artistic touch (big coins in the middle)👌😁 making it look like 🌸 . The texture of coin prata we think is also spot on. It is crispy outside with soft dough inside. Dipping coin prata with curry dipping sauce and our Friday is completed!!! 👼

The signature Coin Prata set requires a longer waiting time than the other pratas even though it is kosong (containing nothing). This is because the dough has to be flipped, divided into 3, and rolled into round coin-shaped dough by hands.

Randomly walked by the store and saw a long queue hence the Singaporean in me decided to queue along with the crowd. I must say it was worth the queue. The Prata was fresh and crispy and the coin Prata was sweet and salty at the same time. The curry was slightly too salty for my liking though but I can overlook it for the quality of the Prata.
