3.75⭐ The high tea set is Peranakan theme. Champagne is ordered ala carte and not inclusive in the high tea set. Each high tea set comes with 2 drinks so my colleague and I ordered the signature Rose Veranda Signature Blend and the Shangri-La Tea for sharing. Recommend the Signature Blend which is more fruity bcos the Shangri-La Tea taste like lighter version of Teh O. The food items are average but the ambience make up for it.

It’s been a while since I last checked out the cocktails concocted by hotels, and this glass of Mangata was a pleasant surprise, because they incorporated a surprising element — tea!
The Mangata (S$23.00) used Gryphon’s Osmanthus Sencha Tea to complement mango juice, citrus and London dry gin. It would probably not be lethal, as the taste of alcohol seemed to be well-camouflaged by the fruity and floral notes. And I guess that might just be the scary thing about unsuspecting cocktails: I might just order more!
On the second morning of our staycation at Shangri La Hotel, we chose the local-style breakfast served here. Although the format is a la carte on weekdays, during weekends and public holidays, it switches to a la carte buffet, which means besides picking a main course, there‘s a spread to help ourselves to.
There are six options for the mains, running the gamut from a Wanton Mee by Shang Palace’s Executive Chef Mok Kit Keung (pictured above), to signature dishes by a few famous Singapore brands like @thecoconutclubsg, @springleafprataplace that Shangri La has collaborated with. The buffet, though modest in scale, has gems representing Singapore’s multi-cultural society like Chwee Kueh from @jianboshuikueh, Putu Mayam, Mee Siam, Lontong and an outstanding Kaya Toast.
We realise the Lobby Lounge is offering authentic Local Buffet Lunch.
.
Simply select one signature dish from the popular hawker dishes like Seng Kee Bar Chor Mee, Legendary Bak Kut Teh, Katong Laksa. They are curated by our culinary team and original recipe from the hawkers themselves. You get to also enjoy a good selection of local appetisers and desserts from the buffet. The buffet also includes a a cup of drink - Kopi Tarik, Teh Tarik, tea or coffee.
I love the Bak Chor Mee especially it comes with a flavourful fish maw soup! The popiah and kueh pie tee is also very delicious. Not forgetting the delicious local desserts. A very value for money semibuffet.

The semi buffet at the lobby lounge is pretty good for lunch. Choose between seven hawker dishes for your main and then hit the buffet line for Popiah / Kueh Pie Tee station/ Nonya Kueh and local desserts. We tried the ba chor mee, prawn noodles and beef rendang. And found the ba chor mee the be the best. Soup was rich and tasty. Noodles nicely done. Good for returns.

But this here, in all its glory, is legit BCM and pie tee (and a whole ensemble of flawless Peranakan dishes) in a high SES setting. So much win. Ok, that's all.
This is actually my second Grandma yule log cake from Shangri-la, and my family can't get enough of that rich decadent chocolate. So classic, and so good.
🔸
Other log cakes offered by Shangri-la includes the Chendol ($68); Chestnut Mousse ($72); Coffee and Baileys ($70); and Raspberry Citrus Cheesecake ($70). They also have other festive goodies like Gingerbread Chalet, Minced Meat Pie and Christmas Pudding, and three premium hampers with prices starting from $108++.

The large lounge with a nice spread of ala carte local favourite is the place to go to have a luxury supper.
The satay is well cooked as good as many of our top hawkers. The kaya butter toast is even better than Yakun kaya butter toast.
Price wise is reasonable for hotel price. Thus set here is less than $40. We rate this place 9/10. Excellent.
The heritage-inspired tea set sees your usual pastries infused with local flavours - savoury bites at the bottom tier, nonya kueh at the middle tier, fusion sweets at the top tier, along with pork satay and green bean soup. Items like chilli crab pie, otah mantou, kaya coconut tart, durian dome and pandan scone sound enticing, but they honestly weren't very impressive (either the filling lacked flavour or the texture was off). I only found the satay to be rather tasty - they're juicy and the peanut sauce is decent.
This set is meant for two, but two of my friends and I were absolutely stuffed after finishing all the food.
Order an ala carte main dish and you can also enjoy the Peranakan buffet below $40++ on weekdays. one of the best we tasted. nice sofa to rest too
What I like about this set is the super airy and crispy you tiao, as well as the the special brewed tea is served at the side to complete the experience. The broth, however, is a much mellower version compared to those served in their own restaurants.

Saw that they have Rainbow Ondeh Ondeh 🌈 but I have yet to get a chance to try them. Had anyone tried and what’s your take on it?

That place is none other than the Shangri-La Hotel where there’s the local heritage buffet happening now at The Lobby Lounge. Since Chairman Kim likes all things fiery, he can get the laksa by The Original Katong Laksa (Janggut) while President Trump can get all meaty with the Beef Rendang by Rumah Makan Minang.
