More Reviews of good food at Tim Ho Wan 添好运 (Plaza Singapura)

Went to Tim Ho Wan last week and ordered their Wok Fried Radish Cake with, Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, and Glutinous Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaves (~$41/2 pax)!😇

Overall ratings 10/10! Really like Tim Ho Wan food as it is consistent and its of high quality as well😄 Would definitely revisit again💯

Went to THW to eat recently and ordered the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Fried Beancurd Skin with Shrimp, Wok-fried Spicy Raddish with Shrimp, Pork Congee with Century & Salted Egg, and a Hong Kong Milk Tea (-$52/2 pax)!😇

Overall ratings 9/10! Food was goodddd😍 Highly recommend the BBQ Pork Buns but drink was a little pricey at $4/cup... Would head back again to try other menu items😄

This dish needs no introduction as it’s mostly everyone’s THW staple order. Buns are consistently good - light and crusty (slightly bordering to the sweet side, but ok for me lol) with generous (and very hot!!) pork filling

Went on a weekday afternoon and service was fast 👌🏻

Have you tried Impossible Pork? It’s a new product from Impossible Foods that’s now available at Tim Ho Wan. It’s chock full of protein but contains fewer calories, less fat and zero cholesterol but still tastes just like pork! Here’s what I had from this new collaboration:

~Steamed Impossible Pork Teochew Crystal Dumplings (3pcs for $8.00)
~Deep-fried Impossible Pork Sesame balls (3pcs for $7.00)
~Steamed Impossible Pork Mushroom & Chives Bun (3pcs for $7.00)
~Pan-Fried Impossible Pork Pickled Mustard Greens Dumplings (3pcs for $8.00)

I have to admit I didn’t have much expectations before trying these dishes, but I was left pleasantly surprised how good they tasted - as much as the real deal! My personal favourite amongst the 4 dishes is the Deep-fried Impossible Pork Sesame balls. It’s made with QQ skin, filled with Impossible Pork, chopped carrots and onions. It's crispy and sweet!

You’ll get a complimentary limited edition Dim Sum Tote Bag with any purchase of 2 Impossible Pork Dim Sum Dishes. Available at all outlets from now till 31 Dec 21, and also for delivery via @grabfoodsg, @foodpandasg, @deliveroo_sg, and @oddleeats.

This is what beckoned for my return to Tim Ho Wan. A replacement to Teochew Dumpling that was removed from the menu. This goes extremely well with chilli padi and vinegar.

Chicken, Corydcep Flower & Mushroom with Rice (S$3.55)

Flatfish, Meatballs & Peanut Congee (S$3.55)

HK Milk Tea (S$2.15)

Available at @timhowan_sg till 18 Aug

Feature :
A Nostalgic Journey Taster Set for 2 pax, consist of :

Assorted Dim Sum
pork & shrimp dumplings, baked bbq pork buns, hk style egg tarts, pan-fried radish cake, steamed shrimp rice rolls, pork congee with century & salted eggs

香煎蘿卜糕 $5.50 | 鮮蝦燒賣皇 $5 | 韭黃鮮蝦腸粉 $6.80 | 噴香排骨芋頭飯 $6.80
Pan-fried Radish Cake, Steamed Pork & Shrimp Dumplings, Steamed Shrimp Rice Roll, Steamed Rice with Pork Ribs & Yam

Though they were having some promotion of buy 3 get 1 free, I still find it pricey given the portion.
It was alright for the price but I prefer Tai Cheong Bakery’s egg tart as I fancy butter crust instead of flaky.

This is surprisingly tasty, although portion is rather small. The porridge is full of flavour and the meat is so tender and soft. Comfort food during a cold day!

Also, shoutout to the girl who sent my table 3 plates of the fried bean curd skin with shrimp ($6.30) even though I only ordered 1, because she struck off the wrong item from the receipt the first time, and struck off the correct item twice afterwards. 3 for the price of 1? I gladly ate them all. Do your job properly kids. @thwsingapore

Highly recommend the baked char siew buns and the malay rice cake here. However with respect to the other dim sum, would prefer having it at swee choon.

I don’t care what anyone says but I still think THW sells one of the best dim sums in Singapore. The bbq char siew buns are my go-to and they never disappoint.

Rating: 4/5

I was expecting so much more from their congee.

🌟2/5

.
Cant leave Tim Ho Wan without my favourite Baked BBQ Pork Buns ($6.20++ for 3)! 😍😍😍
.
The alluring sweet & savoury BBQ pork was full of smokey roasted aroma, which made every bite so gratifying! 💕 Balanced lean-fat ratio ensured the pivotal tenderness was ✔ Coupled with a crusty sweet bun, i just couldnt ask for more (excpet for more buns!) ❤❤❤
.
Cant say the same for their bite-sized Hong Kong Style Egg tarts ($4.80++ for 3) though - too milky & not eggy enough IMO. Tart shell was not buttery & crusty enough for me too. 😔 Can find better ones out there!

Happy Saturday friends! 😘 Hope everyone is enjoying your yummy brekkie! 😋

Michelin gives stars to Asian restaurants quite randomly (eg. Shoukouwa!), but I have never been able to understand how Tom Ho Wan managed to get one star in Hong Kong. The food is decent, but it is no better than the pedestrian Crystal Jade Kitchen or certainly Imperial Treasure’s Treasures, and the menu is short. The only plus is prices are very reasonable given the prime location. No wonder there’s never a queue. Singapore foodies know better!

Century egg with lean meat congee has always been my favourite. Tim Ho Wan didn’t disappoint, along with others such as chives dumplings, har gaos, siew mai and bbq pork buns.

$6.20 for a box of 3

The best baked version of char siew baos! Although the filing is little but the crispy fragrant crust make up for that.
