This Japanese restaurant only has limited counter seating overlooking their open kitchen, catching the chef preparing your orders.
You will be served with seaweed broth filled with hijiki while waiting for your foods. I would say it served as a great appetite before meal.
The chicken katsu don was so tender mixing with the omelette egg.
Completing your meal with fresh fruit and miso soup.
Chirashi bowl for $24! Fishes are fresh, serving size was decent. Fills one up. Next time to try their sashimi
Swipe left to see pictures of the inside. Unagi and cucumber surrounded by sushi rice, torched salmon, tobiko and their sauce.
Reminds me of the shiok maki, except the crunch in this comes from cucumber instead of fried ebi, and the sauce is slightly more tangy.
Pretty decent and yummy, although just one step below the shiok maki in my opinion, because the sauce isn't as perfectly balanced ๐
Price: $16

This is my usual place for Cod fish Claypot soup & Chirashi Don. Been a regular customer for this restaurant for at least 10 years. Chirashi Don is always generously sliced with freshness. Despite the inflation, the quality never gives way!
I had the set lunch menu where the main comes with miso soup and green tea. The colourful bara chirashi don was aesthetically pleasing and a delight to my tastebuds. Super worth it (for the lunch set) with the fresh chunks of fish, egg and cucumber.
Expect outrageously thick slices of fresh sashimi alongside simple honest Japanese fare.

Thereโs two outlets almost side by side but i prefer the one further away from the lift. Thatโs where the Chef/owner is at.

๐ธ: Around $30 per person
โ๏ธ: Will definitely be back soon and their set lunch very affordable, however the stars of the show are definitely the sashimi.
This special chirashi bento for $35 was worth every single cent. Seafood was fresh and sliced into generous portion.
Located at 14 Scottโs Road, Far East Plaza #05-68/70, Singapore 228213. Was recommended by a friend who brought us to this hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant tucked in a corner at Far East Plaza level 5! They occupied 2 separate units with a limited of 15 seats in it, looks and feels of an authentic jap restaurant.. We ordered Aburi Salmon Maki $16, & Unagi Sushi Maki $15. Both comes with gigantic roll of 6 pcs each with thick slices of Salmon & Unagi.. Maki is stuffed with Tamago, Cucumber, wrapped with seaweed and finished with a thick slice of salmon before touching to perfection, and added roe to it! ๐๐ A mouthful of happiness! Itโs so tasty, fresh and simply SUPERB! Fyi thereโs NO GST & Service Charge too! Next time you know where to head to for a yummy Japanese lunch when you are at Far East Plaza! #hungryunicornsg #wasabitei #aburisalmonroll #fareastplaza #unagimaki
And I always thought Iโd see myself going to FEP only for the sushi bar but omg Iโm wrong๐ฑ Found this 15-seater jap restaurant just behind the famous salted egg shop. Their sashimi is by far the THICKEST cut Iโve had in sg, thus explaining itโs price point and itโs worth every penny!!! Also like how the seats are counter seats as in sushi places in Japan - transporting me to places where my wallet refuses to take me๐ I like seeing how my food is being prepared especially hap food!! Hehe pls be expected to queue if you come cuz seats are limited๐ Was rly contemplating to post this cuz I donโt want more ppl coming to queue for this, I donโt need more ppl stealing ma food๐ญ But then I guess good things must share right ๐

This is one of the most popular mid range sashimi restaurant in town. The outlet is very small. all counter seats and by 6pm the seats are all full.
This set here with 2 slices of watermelon cost $24. the sashimi are thick and juicy. Quite fresh too.
Overall we rate this place 8/10
Salmon Belly with sushi rice. Served with miso soup and watermelon ใ$26
Welcome appetizer? This wasn't on the menu but it looks like they served this to everyone.
It's yummeh! They uses good quality ingridients. Served warm and it starts our jaw chewing while waiting for our mains to arrive.
A $2 'enterance' fee for a beverage is a must due to the limited seat in the restaurant. All the seats are high seats and it's rather pleasant to see how the chef prepares the food right under your nose literally.
Had the Sanshoku Chirashi Sushi ($22) and shared the Aburi Salmon Maki ($15). It's actually more than enough to have the Chirashi if you have small appetite as I could barely finished it.
The Sashimi are all cuts to huge chunk and it's pretty fulfilling ๐
If you ain't a fan of Sashimi, fear not because my friends had grilled salmon and grilled eel which are equally nice and huge portion.
I would say the price you're paying is pretty worth it for having dinner in the town area.
Avg per pax: $26 (no gst or service charges)
My friend brought me here and strongly recommended the chirashi don. I balked a little at the price ($28) but decided to just give it a shot. There was a nice assortment of sashimi: tuna, octopus, yellow tail, sweet shrimp, scallop and of course, salmon. It was also topped with salmon roe (ikura), pickled radishes, ginger, cucumbers and a nice dollop of wasabi.
The rice was sweet, with a little bit of sesame seeds and seaweed on it, which allowed for different textures (which is always welcome!). With that said, the star of the dish is clearly the sashimi and it shines. The sashimi was extremely fresh and cut very thickly. The flavor of the sashimi really comes through in this dish. My only criticism is that the sashimi might have been cut TOO thick - blasphemous I know, but hear me through. Although the thick cut was extremely satisfying, it can be a bit too overwhelming, especially if you don't eat sashimi very often.
Ultimately, I strongly recommend trying this don if you're a huge sashimi lover, if not, it might be a bit too much for you.
Total price: $28 + $2 (drink, little appetizer, fruit)
No GST, but you have to pay the $2 (basically comes with the seat)
Lunch Donburi Set C : Kaisen Chirashi Set ($18)
Served with Japanese green tea, miso soup, salad, pickles and watermelon slices.
Colorful presentation, smooth texture.
Very small restaurant with about 15 counter seats.
It just located in front of the lift.

This Chirashidon means business. Thick slices of fresh sashimi topped on a bed of rice. It's too good to avoid this when you are in town. Wasabi Tei also delivers amazing aburi sushi in front of you while you dine. Avoid TGIF and Saturday as it's always full.
For $16 nett, I have huge and thick slices of sashimi on top of my rice. Generous servings of sashimi and I have a few pieces of sashimi left after I have finished my rice ๐ every piece of sashimi is juicy, thick, sweet and fresh! Makes me want to head down right now to have a bowl straight away (though I just had my really full lunch ๐)
