Had been wanting to try Little Bowl for quite a long while ever since they had first started business at the Food Emporium food court at Clifford Centre. Whilst that outlet had since shuttered for quite a while now, Little Bowl’s outlet at Marina One is still in operations — a spot that does have a sizeable crowd these days with more folks returning back to office with the easing of the safe management measures in-place due to COVID-19. Opened by chefs formerly from Saveur, Little Bowl had started operations as Le Bouillon (which we had previously made a visit back in 2017), the change of name from Le Bouillon to Little Bowl is to reflect their shift from serving up French cuisine, to an establishment that specialises in Western and Japanese fusion fare. Being a standalone eatery at the basement of Marina One, Little Bowl serves up quite a variety of Donburi, whilst also having a small selection of pasta and udon on their menu to serve the lunchtime office crowds here.
What stood out most to us in the menu at Little Bowl was the Shio Pasta; the item consists of elements such as Crispy Chicken, Crabmeat and Mushroom Sauce according to its description on the menu. Priced at $9.90, the Shio Pasta is considered a rather pretty affordable eat within Marina One itself, considering how there are not many wallet-friendly options within the building especially where Western and Japanese fusion fare are being served. While the presentation of the dish is certainly not the best here, this was pretty much comfort food for the soul — our favourite part probably being the Cappellini pasta here. No idea how they have prepared it, but the Cappellini comes in a shade slightly darker than one would have expected; there is also a noticeable hint of crustacean flavour lingering that makes one wonder if this is indeed inspired by the lobster cappellini that features a naturally briny sweetness with every slurp of the noodle. As though wanting to appease the masses, the inclusion of the mushroom sauce; itself being like a cream-based sauce that carried a hint of earthiness, can be said as a move to incorporate a classic flavour that most would not mind having on the plate. Whilst the fried chicken pieces had a light and crisp batter that wasn’t particularly greasy, we found it quite a pity how these seemed to be prepared ahead of time and wasn’t exactly served piping hot — there again, maybe a move to speed up the process since they are pretty much a quick casual dining concept that has to cater to the takeaway/delivery crowd whilst also trying to serve as many dine-in patrons as they can.
With quite a number of items priced below $10 at Little Bowl, Little Bowl is definitely one of the more reasonably-priced establishments of its type within Marina One — something that some office workers may actually consider having once a week just to treat themselves to a slightly nicer lunch just to break away from the more affordable local fare such as the likes of Malaysia Boleh. Whilst there are some things which we personally felt needed a slight tweak (i.e. plating and the crispy chicken), I wouldn’t mind dining here again if I am looking for some comfort food without having to break the bank.
Expected to be a bit spicy but it wasn’t. This new western japanese fusion stall located at 5 Straits View, B1 Marina One The Heart which below high end office tower.
The price is really affordable and it does taste good. You may spotted three young chef who owns the stall, they previously worked at Saveur.

Love the gravy that is not too mushroomy. The spaghetti used is the thin kind, I guess is capellini ? Chicken was also crispy and goes well w the gravy !!!!
Little Bowl has moved to Marina One. Food is still good. Recommend the salmon mentaiko. The salmon is soft and not dry

Featured is their signature plate of al dente pasta, cloaked with a creamy sauce made from kombu, marinated crab meat and shiitake mushroom, served with a side of chicken cutlet and onsen egg. At just $6.90, it’s not only affordable (for CBD’s standards), but also yummy too 😋. I must say their robust sauce which contains the earthiness of the mushroom and the natural sweetness from the crab was clearly the overall MVP.

($6.90) A steal at the heart of the CBD. Comes with fried chicken and the Shio noodle sauce (which tastes like thickened mushroom cream). The noodles are excellent and immediately reminiscent of Saveur. Can be a tad salty which can be resolved by adding some of their Sriracha chilli sauce
This was a new item on their menu! Just superb for two reasons: 1) the chicken and smoked duck were so damn fresh and well marinated. The chicken cutlet was tender and succulent and not covered in too much batter like what we would normally get elsewhere. The smoked duck was so juicy and fresh damn. 2) It may not look like a lot, but I was really full after finishing it. Very value for money! Only wished that the sauce on the rice would be less spicy/peppery (tasted like some spicy bbq sauce) as it almost overpowered the taste of the meats, there was just too many flavours in this bowl, plain rice would be better! Nevertheless this was still GOLD. Simple and good.
Such a hidden gem in Raffles Place!! The mentaiko was torched to perfection and the creaminess on the fresh piece of salmon was sooooo damn heavenly. Did not even bother about the broken poached egg because the bowl was already so tasty. Will be back 10/10
Very value for money meal indeed! The portion of noodles given was very generous, and although it seems like there are very few pieces of crispy chicken cutlet, it was surprisingly just nice! Loved the creamy texture of the mushroom sauce- the mushrooms bits were tangible and tasty and not too salty. The poached egg was a bonus (: will have this every day if I can!!
Comes with sliced sausages, prawns and an onsen egg. Add 60 cents for cheese but sometimes when they closing like 7pm they might give you for free! They do it uniquely with sakura shrimps and the prawns are generous for the price. Love it!!
Previously known as Le Bouillon, this team has decided to launch their latest concept of rice bowls (unagi, pork belly etc) and noodles as a last ditch attempt to revive their business. Due to it being located in the CBD area, their business depends quite heavily on the lunch crowd which would be greatly reduced by dinner time:(
I tried this 'new' item which is actually a revamped item from the previous menu: cream mushroom and crab meat noodles. With the new onsen egg and fragrant crispy chicken, the al dente noodles came together really nicely. Loved the crispy chicken as the chicken breast was very moist and the special batter made it taste like no other fellow fried chicky:)
However I thought the sauce was quite flat and became quite jelat after a few mouthfuls of it. Nevertheless i enjoyed the meal in general and I really hope that this team will pull through with this new concept 💪
I've tried the prawn aglio olio ($7.90) and the mushroom+crab angel hair pasta ($6.50 inclusive of the added egg). Both are good! Didn't know I can get good french food in raffles place area for under $8. Really value for money! The queues are short and preparation time is quick, so there's no need to wait too long. Just need to "chope" seats at this crowded foodcourt.
Was excited about this muchly raved about food court food, but it was quite disappointing... The Capellini Pasta ($5.90) was wayyy too salty for me - something in the Creamy Mushroom & Crabmeat sauce? Which is a shame because the mushroom slices & chunks of crab meat were quite impressive. The add-on I opted for was the Chicken Roulade Slices (+$2); quite well done & tender, I must say. This wasn't too salty. I'm convinced it's the sauce.
The promo is good value for money, though, especially for those working in the area. I'm in no hurry to return, but if I do I'll want to try a different sauce..

A good deal for folks working in the area, but not worth a special trip down just for this. It really is a shame that this was soo salty, because the angel hair pasta was perfectly al dente.

Went to try new dish at French cruisine Clifford centre food court. Had a scrumptious and savoury meal. Food is nice n value meal.
Originally, I didn't even plan to write a review of this, but Le Bouillon's quarter roast chicken was so good I simply had to.
I was fortunate enough to snag a leg, and it was joyously juicy and succulent. The seasoning job the chefs did on this piece of poultry was simple yet superb, and each bite unleashed a torrent of savory flavors. Combined with a moreish reduction, this chicken's hind quarters really worked hard for my money. Top that off with Le Bouillon's signature, luscious mashed potatoes and and simple mesclun salad mix, and we're good to go.
All that, for just $7.90.
On its own, the aglio was done really well, nicely salted with a hint of spice. But when the egg was mixed in, it created a unique sauce with the olive oil and juices from the chorizo, taking it up another notch. The chicken roulade slices were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and the mushroom filling went well with the chicken. It was a very satisfying meal and I walked out of Clifford Centre really happy and full. It looks ordinary but the flavours are solid!
I've had this review on my phone for the longest time but consistently forgot to post it, but hey I finally did it!
Le Bouillon has become my go to option for cheap, quality European cuisine (my office is right above so there's that), and with offerings like this plate of Braised Pork Belly tagliatelle going at just $8.90, it's easy to see why.
A few humongous hunks of tender, juicy pork belly is laid out atop a respectable portion of tagliatelle that's been liberally inundated in a rich, tangy tomato sauce.
Now don't get me wrong, every element in this dish is excellently executed, but they should really stay separated. The already abundant richness of the tender, tasty pork belly is exacerbated by the rich, thick and creamy tomato sauce. Couple that with a carb overload in the form of the al dente tagliatelle, and you have an overly rich dish that eventually turns off putting. Apparently, you can have too much of a good thing, and I found myself unable to finish this dish.
The pork belly would definitely work a lot better in an aglio olio pasta as it can impart its fattiness into the relatively plain pasta, as opposed to loading unto an already remarkably rich sauce.
The only reason why this isn't in my cheerless chow list is because of how delicious each element is on its own. Unfortunately, they just don't quite work together.
