Had the medium Hitsumabushi ($29.50++). Very fresh Unagi and they have suggested 4 ways of eating it.
It is delicious but downside is that it is quite pricey.
One of my favourite places for Unagi for sure.
Delicious tender Unagi, and especially with the Hitsumabushi set we can enjoy the same meal it in a variety of ways.
One of the cheaper options in the restaurant - a good pick if you just want to try the unagi here and don’t need so much of it... although you might not be satisfied at the small serving of it as it may leave you wanting more :P
The Tamago was nice. Unagi was yummy but the outside of the fish wasn’t grilled to crispiness enough in our opinion. The unagi sauces were really nice! A pity the fish wasn’t charred enough, because the charred taste would’ve made this dish perfect.
It is quite expensive but you’re paying for good quality fish. It’s worth a try, especially if you like unagi.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon and managed to get a seat for two. The seating is a little bit cramped but I guess it makes for a cozy dining atmosphere.
Unagi was yummy but the outside of the fish wasn’t grilled to crispiness enough in our opinion. The broiled eel seasoned with salt tasted very ordinary, I would recommend to skip it and just go for the grilled ones seasoned with unagi sauce, unless you like very plain tasting fish and want to taste how unagi is without the sauce (to my unrefined tastebuds it just had a very mild taste of generic fish).
The unagi sauces were really nice and that probably made the grilled ones taste delicious. A pity it wasn’t charred enough, because the charred taste would’ve made this dish perfect.

Came with very high expectations given how highly raved man man is, but expectations were disappointingly not met.
The unagi was relatively well done and soft, but I felt like it was a tad bit overcooked. The exterior wasn’t crispy as I anticipated given the mass reviews I see raving the skin. The taste wasn’t as smokey as I’d like, the inner part of the unagi was rather plain. It’s still a decent unagi, but it definitely didn’t meet the man-man expectations I had. Maybe that’s why there wasn’t a queue at the Duo outlet.
I was pleasantly taken aback by the soup, which was infused with yuzu. The light citrusy taste adds depth to the soup, which made it very delicious and special.
The wasabi was freshly grated, and went well with the rice and unagi.
Overall a decent meal, definitely will head to the original outlet for a comparison :”)
We decided to give this a try since we’re innard fans, but this was a little too funky even for us. The seafood flavour off the liver is quite intense, though adding the sweet sauce and wasabi does help. Only order if you can handle it!
Finally popped my Man Man cherry! Added on an onsen egg for $1.50 and I can see why they’re so popular. The unagi is the best I’ve had in SG; tender, thick and with a nice crisp on the top. Loved having it the ochazuke style by pouring in the dashi stock provided. It ain’t cheap, but if I’ve got an unagi craving again, I know where I’m headed!
Roast beef with unagi hitsumabushi ($29.50 for medium $39.50 for large). Roast beef is served medium rare and cold(as informed by the waiter). It was tasty, tender and tasted of black pepper which went well with the sweet unagi sauce. The unagi which is the main star of the shop was also equally excellent. The outer layer was crispy while the inside was soft and it was well flavoured. The soup provided was good, well seasoned and went well with the rice to give you a hearty porridge. However I still preferred my dish the way it was, with the soup separated.
With everything being so delicious, the broiled unagi which my friend ordered was really disappointing. It was bland and did not have much texture besides the softness of the meat and the countless soft bones in the meat. It was also chewier than the grilled unagi.
Overall just stick to the usual grilled unagi, try the roast beef and avoid the broiled unagi and you'll leave satisfied! Also they served green tea FOC!
A very exclusive hitsumabushi at Duo Gallery Branch with 2 unagi cooked in different way which is Tokutoku shirayaki (seasoned with salt) and tokutoku kabayaki (seasoned with unagi sauce). Tbh, it was already magnificently taste even without the wasabi to spice up the bowl. Beside, the chef do put in certain effort to remove tiny bones of the eel.
Holy smokes the best unagi I’ve ever had!! So soft and flavourful w a grilled slightly crispy exterior. Loved the dashi stock too, when u mix it w a small amt of rice in a separate bowl . Perfect amount for me n despite its steep price point, gotta say its worth a try :’)
The other set we ordered for variety’s sake, came with tamagoyaki, 2 plump scallops and a piece of salmon with melt-in-the-mouth fatty goodness.
Would have gotten the other beef but they ran out of it so it was the Roast Beef with Unagi instead - the tender roast beef was served medium rare and cold (which they inform beforehand to make sure you’re ok with it).
They also ran out of the self grated wasabi which I had heard so much about but it was still good.
Would’ve liked my unagi to be a little more charred but it was at least fresh and soft, and the sauces were not overwhelmingly sweet/ salty. Got the Hitsumabushi style and the dashi broth was great - very light and tasty! Even the soup served with their set had a nice hint of yuzu which I loved.
You can taste the freshness of the fish, with the soy sauce done just right. However, quite pricey at approx. sgd30 for a bowl. A once in a blue moon dish
Expensive, but the Unagi is good.
Worried about all the small bones though.
Need to chew chew chew!!
Scallops are big but the salmon portion is a little too small for me. The size of two curly fries

Roast beef is served medium rare and it’s cold. Taste good but really not used to eating cold meat
$29.50+ (Medium size) - very filling for me.
Manman never fails! Crispy outsides of unagi and juicy and fresh on the inside. Tender beef. Self grate wasabi completes the experience and brings you to Japan for a moment.
Nice ambience at Duo. No live killing of eels at Duo’s outlet. Go early to skip the queue! Sit outside for quieter and breezy dining experience.
Not a cheap date night but a very good quality bowl of unagi.
Paid $26.80 for the regular Histumabushi. Have to say it was worth every penny. Average price of a good Hitsumabushi in Japan would be $25-$40 SGD as well so was not too pricey. Eel taste was great. Not slimey and had a nice charred taste from the charcoal. Rice was plump and moist. Soup was clean and savoury tasting.
Definitely would recommend to others and would visit again
I’ve been wanting to try this for the longest time!!! Takes the experience to a new level when you add the condiments and broth to the unagi don. Am really keen now to try out other unagi dons in Sg and see which is the best but I was really satisfied with this alr YUMMMM 😋
So so satisfying. At $39.90+ this isn’t the cheapest meal out there but it was well worth every single cent. Opted for half portion of grilled and half portion of salted eel & you can’t go wrong with that. I personally like the grilled one better but the salted (lighter coloured) eel was definitely worth a try! Served with refillable broth and toppings, it was a really satisfying end of week meal!
