Coffee is not bitter or acidic, tad milky..

Sourdough is well-toasted to slightly crispy outside while soft & fluffy inside; with a layer of roasted garlic chive cream cheese spread; came with a big piece of smoked barramundi fillet which is soft but mildly dry; filled with small amount of ponzu kangkong & pickled shallots; love how well the ingredients complement each other; with crispy cassava chips & fresh greens with yuzu vinaigrette at the side; simple & light dish worth a try..

Al-dente pasta tossed in dashi cream sauce; sauce is flavorful & rich, quite addictive; topped with chunks of fresh crab meat; with shio kombu, edamame & sesame; worth a try..

Aside from an extensive coffee menu, the tea lattes like 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶, a simple blend of tea with oat milk, are worth checking out. The use of handcrafted ceramic cups also add to the organic drinking experience, nonetheless boosted by the aroma of black tea infused with strong spices.

The 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 gives a burst of fruity flavours, with a dollop of torched berry-meringue, oat-almond crumble, compote, yoghurt and waffles. The waffles, on the more crispy and airy side with sweeter notes than sour, are a perfect pairing with the natural flavours of the berries and compote. The vanilla ice cream gelato which comes alongside the dessert felt more frozen and iced than expected, which dumbed down the experience with its watery texture.

The brunch menu features the 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗹, a refreshing dish of smoked salmon slices, horseradish, celeriac slaw, capers and arugula paired with two sesame bagel halves. The umami salmon and sour and salty flavours of the slaw all come together with the doughy texture of the bagel. Not to mention the creamy addition of slightly soft eggs and the hint of tang with the scorched lemon.

Pretty pleasantly surprised by East Coast Commune’s hojicha latte. At default, it is done mildly sweet and the hojicha notes were quite pronounced. Could be a bit smoother, but not too bad!

The brunch menu that is available until 3pm features two new items, one of them being the Chicken and Sourdough Waffle ($19) that has buffalo mozzarella cheese melted on the waffle itself. This dish is served with a Sriracha cream that is served by the side and topped with roasted watermelon and pickled cucumber that helps to add a touch of sweetness, smokiness, and tanginess to the overall flavour.

Available from 11am, the lunch menu has a good variety of dishes from mains to sharing plates. The Kale & Strawberry Salad ($22) was the standout for me, and it has a caramelised goat cheese at the middle to give it a nice smoky and creamy touch while the other accompanying ingredients of almond, tahini, pomegranate, chickpeas, sundried figs and honey emulsion all played a part in balancing the flavours and texture, making this salad a must-try in my recommendations. The other main that we have gotten is the Crab Dashi Linguine ($24) that screams ‘seafoody’ and umami. The eggless linguine is joined by the generous serving of crab meat cooked in a dashi cream and added with pickled kombu in ponzu, edamame, sesame seeds and lemon breadcrumbs. Perhaps a little more lemon zest might help to cut through the richness of this dish, but otherwise this is a hearty and moreish pasta dish.

Lastly, the Granny’s Apple Tart ($12) with vanilla ice cream ($4) was the perfect ending of the meal as the tart is made with an oat crumble with a frangipane crème and apple cubes spiced with cinnamon and cooked in a miso caramel sauce. The addition of the vanilla ice cream rounds off this dessert perfectly.

Pretty great place when you need something to snack on in the Park. Outdoor seating has fans, the place is quite cosy and tidy. Overall, great!

If the sight of this bronzed, flaky croissant stuffed with juicy roasted portobello and schmears of brie as well as truffle cream cheese doesn't get you hungry, I don't know what will. Additionally, the bacon at East Coast Commune is thicc as and worthy of splurging $4 more on for a protein-packed breakfast of champions.

A better than average rendition of avo toast with plenty of trimmings. Feta crumble, dukkah spice mix, pomegranate, earthy beetroot hummus and herb oil all contribute a variety of textures and tastes to the creamy mashed avocado over sourdough toast, for a healthy yet satiating breakfast. Add on scrambled eggs($5) to make it a full meal.
