The beef short rib was delicious complemented by lovely sides

Last but certainly not least, the Hotteok ($18) was a sweet finale. Filled with cinnamon and brown sugar, their rendition of the popular street snack tasted pretty refine to me as the warm, pan-fried rice flour pancake was not too greasy or cloying. It was also deliciously chewy. The burnt honey ice cream, ugh, was good with the caramelised flavours and the mixed nuts was truly the icing on the cake as the crunchy texture as well as the fragrant nuttiness was so complementary.

As for our choice of carb, we went for the Sot Bibimbap ($32) which would feed 2 hearty eaters comfortably in my opinion. Presented in a traditional cast iron pot before the chef mixed and portioned out for us, the Korean short-grain rice was topped with seasonal ingredients that included a succulent pork patty and assorted fresh-tasting veggies like crunchy beansprouts, sliced mushrooms, as well as shredded carrots. Tossed with their house-made XO sauce, the yummy bowl of rice was sweet, savoury and mildly spicy.

Another starter you have to try is their KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower) ($26). Deep-fried cauliflower and rice cakes evenly coated in a house-made yangnyeom sauce. The superbly battered cauliflower was so good, doesn’t really taste like the vegetable and was so light, crisp as well as moreish. I particularly enjoyed the sweet-spicy-tangy flavours of the glossy gochujang-based sauce.

Off to a great start at GUːUM, their Yukhwae Jeon ($32) is a must try if you love a good potato pancake. Embellished with Korean-style hand-chopped beef tartare, pickled onions and savoury egg yolk jam, the snack was incredibly tasty. A little thick and portion is pretty small but I really enjoyed the flavours as well as textures as it was super duper crisp and crunchy.

I wouldn’t recommend this dish. It was not flavoursome and wasn’t cooked well with no evidence of any “grill”. You can definitely have better beef elsewhere. Presentation was amazing though.

Summary, fried cauliflower that taste like Gu Lo Yoke.

Very nice cuts of meat, free flow of sides is really shiok for you to stuff your face with lettuce and Kim chi along with meat. Best of all, the staff here are super friendly and they even help you barbecue the meat. Totally happy with my 1am supper over here. 10/10 will return here.

When my friend recommended a casual dinner to Manbok (or Sin Manbok if that mattered), I truly did not expect such a feast coming. Just think about unlimited servings of meat, with a choice of Korean stew (Kimchi, Spicy Tofu or Army), one serving of Korean Fried Chicken (Original, Seasoned or Soy) and then a round of sides which comprised a Pancake, Rice Cakes / Steamed Egg and a Jajangmyoen / Pork Cutlet

all at an outrageous price of S$29.00 per pax!

All I would say was that, if you knew the right things to pick, you would definitely leave the place bloated but extremely satisfied. The only undesirable takeaway might just be the lingering BBQ smell that would just cling on you (and your bags) until you were to perform a thorough clean-down.

This restaurant serves authentic Korean food and buffet at an affordable price. At $25+ per pax. Their service was fantastic. Overall worth the money!

we opted for the buffet menu and kind of ordered the standard fare we always got.

food here was legit nice. sides were good. soup was not overly salty. pancake was not too floury. bbq meat was yummy. especially the pork belly and beef.
-
the meat was thinly sliced and you could just devour piece after piece without realising the sins you have committed. the pork belly had a very crisp and the beef's flavour was just tempting and addictive.
-
i did not get to taste the fried chicken today because having been here a couple of times, we all know that the portion is crazy huge. so we decided to just dabao the fried chicken as always and just spam the bbq while having the non-dabao-able soup etc. service was impeccable until we were told that there was a change in their SOP and we could not dabao the fried chicken.
-
we only found out when we were about to settle the bill. if we were notified earlier, we would not have ordered other ala carte dishes to add on. so after abit of talking, we decided to give in and let them throw away the fried chicken. at least the sin of food wastage is not on me. kinda put off by the sudden change in rules and the flexibility.
-
that being said, the food is not bad and it would have continued to be a regular kbbq joint for us if not for this minor dispute. in all honesty, the food is definitely worth a go. just skip the additional ala carte orders or you will end up wasting food.

The kimchi pancake was crispy and the serving was large too!
