After seeing lots of review and people posting it, finally decided to give this place a try.
Ordered their small portion at $4 and waiting time at 7.30am is 1 hour.
The chye poh was not salty and clean. However, I was disappointed in the carrot cake itself for it being very oily and the wok hey is not there.
It kind of feel unsettling in my stomach which I not sure is that their usual standard.
Overall, wouldn't come back for it
Probably my most elusive food. Been so many years. I've visited twice previously with no success. This time we came early on a weekday and it was fast. Serving chye por on the side is their quirk. The carrot cake itself comes in slices, each one slightly crispy and inside was fluffy. It's refined, but not the very best I've eaten.
The carrot cake was slightly crispy outside but soft inside, served with chey Poh on the side.

The carrot cake is wok-fried with eggs, garlic, chye poh, fish sauce and other seasonings, topped with a mountain of chye poh at the side. The carrot cake is fried beforehand then double-fried upon order for a crispy and eggy texture on the outside, soft on the inside with some wok-hei. The chye poh were surprisingly not as salty with some sweetness and crunch that balance well with the lightly seasoned carrot cake that is not too greasy or overpowering. They also serve up a pretty generous portion which is good enough to share and value for money. Good things must wait so be prepared to queue for it. I waited 30mins on an early weekend morning ใ$4.50 / Large
Plenty of fantastic reviews, came here on a weekday morning 10.30am previously, but was told it would be over 90mins wait, decided not to wait then.
This time around, i came just before 7am on a sunday morning, ended up waiting Over 1 hour for this popular carrot cake.
Overflow with cai poh, 618 carrot cake is filled with minced prawns as well.
The egg was crispy. And this is the best carrot cake I have ever eaten.
It feels like a prawn omelette carrot cake.
Perhaps this would be the most insane waiting time I ever have for a plate of carrot cake. I came here at 6:20am, even before they open at 6:30am and thereโs already a few people waiting to order.
I made my order right at 6:30am and was told the waiting time would be 1.5 hours! Thatโs crazy even coming in early morning.
I see thereโs lots of order for takeaway as you see them packing it bag by bag. I literally waited from dark until the sun rise.
Finally at 7:52am I gotten my order! I was so excited by just looking at those cai po given on my plate. I could say the portion definitely very generous and actually good for 2 people to share.
I added the prawn for $5 which given another good texture and taste to the carrot cake. It is definitely worth the wait and know why so many people would want to wait even it is so long.
Love the crispy exterior of the carrot cake, topped with generous chye poh thatโs enough for every bite. Ordered 2x $3 plates for 3pax and the serving is just right. The 1 hour wait in the hot coffeeshop is a turn off, will be back only when I deeply crave for it.

Yishun is a bastion of diversity โ home to cat murderers, inter-dimensional wormholes and crazy people... If you class people who'd queue 30 mins for carrot cake as "crazy".

Waiting time goes from 30 mins to 1 hour, but it's worth a try. Their ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ($4) was an outstanding rendition with a substantially crispy and eggy exterior which blanketed the moist but fluffy innards. It's supplemented with a lavish heap of cai poh that gave it a further sweet-savoury punch, but nothing too overwhelming. Plus, portions were generous, even with takeaway! Maybe my favourite stall in the hood.

The portion my plate of carrot cake is pretty huge for $3! I thought the stall has made a mistake and had given me the $4 plate instead. I double checked with the auntie and she confirmed that it is indeed my order.
.
The generous portion can actually be shared among two persons which is totally value for money!

For those who can brave the 1-2 hrs wait, this is some legit, well fried carrot cake. Each piece is coated with a generous amount of egg and the chye poh and chilli complement the dish really well. They say once you go black, you canโt go back. Well, not in this case for me.
The best white carrot cake I ever had. Firm and crisp on the outside with a good amount of egg coating each piece. Not to forget the generous serving of chai poh at the side. Totally worth the 1 hour wait.
Fried Carrot ๐ฅ Cake (S$3)
Itโs been quite awhile since I last walked over to this coffee shop for this because of the long waiting time.
Still can remember the previous visit I gave up because the waiting time was an hour.
The carrot cake was different with normal carrot cake.
The carrot cake was slightly crispy outside but soft inside, served with chey Poh on the side.
I top up $1.5 for prawn.
The prawn gives an extra crunchy texture into the carrot cake..

Iโve been wanting to try the carrot cake here for the longest time and it was an absolutely delight! The white carrot cake here was super crispy while managing to retain its fluffy interior, and served with a generous amount of chye poh (preserved turnip) that were crunchy and savoury.
The moist sweet radish cake and the smokey crispy egg crust were delightfully contrasted in texture. It was further elevated by the generous hill of crunchy chye poh and spring onions when mixed in. All the ingredients mingled together for a delectable umami bomb in the mouth.
Have yet to find a carrot cake better than the one at 618 Sim Carrot Cake! Crispy and topped generously with cai poh - long queue but totally worth the wait!
[Throwback] Arrived as early as 0730hr to beat the queue. This legendary stall is known for an hour usual awaiting time . i waited for around 40 mins for this plate ($4). . .

Arrived at 7:30 am and already we had to wait an hour for ours. Ordered the one with prawns and it came with much anticipated heap of Cai Poh.
Nicely done, crispy on top and fluffy underneath. They were generous with the egg and Cai Poh. Tasted good too especially eaten in big spoonful of the Cai Poh.
Would list this on our Top 3 for carrot cake and recommend to try this out; although not sure if we would return to wait an hour again. Think we would wait for Chey Sua carrot cake instead. The other unique one we like was the mixed fried yam and carrot cake at 23 Sin Ming Road.
What first struck me was that generous mound of chye poh (preserved radish) served on its side. As for the radish itself, I liked that it was eggy with some fire and crisp, and that the interior itself had sweetness from the radish (you know, nowadays even some famous stalls serve tasteless radish, and you really need to order the black version to hide that fact).

As for the chye poh, at times I ate it on its own (it's not too salty), at times I mixed it with the carrot and ate them together. Very enjoyable :)

Adding this to the list of my favorite food in Yishun, and thanks Kenneth and Sheen for recommending this to me!
