More Reviews of good food at Geylang Claypot Rice

Surprised by how modern the shop was when I visited Geylang Claypot Rice. It was clean, aesthetically pleasing, and honestly, an attractive place for tourists to patronise. Went on a Friday night and managed to be seated immediately, although as with all claypot rice, they warned us that a 30 minute wait is necessary.

The claypot rice was served the classic way, hot and mixed right in front of you. This claypot rice has a good amount of ingredients for its price - chicken, sausages, and salted fish, all of which is a must have for me. The chicken was not as juicy as I’d like it to be and the chilli on the side didn’t give that nice punch with the savouriness of the rice. But I enjoyed the texture of the rice and the bits of salted fish that you’d get. In all, I’d think it’s a good place to satisfy your claypot rice cravings because of how accessible and affordable it is!

$16.80 (small)
Do call ahead in advance to avoid having to wait for 30 mins when you order on the spot! So good

The soup of the day on our visit was pork ribs with lotus root. It was something light, sweet and flavourful to start off our meal while waiting for the claypot rice to arrive 》$9.80

Each pot is served with toppings of pork belly, salted fish, chicken chunks, lup cheong (Chinese sausages) and fresh vegetables. The claypot rice is cooked over the charcoal fire so do call and order in advance or prepare to wait 30 minutes as they cook this upon ordering.

When the claypot arrived on our table, the server would help to add the dark soy sauce and mix them all together to achieve a sweet, savoury and smoky flavour from cooking over charcoal. The portion for the small claypot (1-2pax) was quite an amount that we think it can fill up to 3 pax. The chicken was cooked just right and was moist and flavourful. There is a layer of crispy rice bits at the side and bottom for those who love digging and scraping them off the pot 》$16.80/small (1-2pax)

I’ve been here twice in less than a month. The first time I ordered the 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒖𝒎 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒑𝒐𝒕($28.80) which serves 3-4 pax and the second time I ordered the 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒖𝒎 8 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝑨𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆 ($55). Each pot is served with toppings of pork belly, bits of salted mackerel fish, well-marinated chicken, two types of lup cheong, and fresh vegetables. I appreciate how the server helped to add dark soy sauce as I never know how much to add. The portion is very generous and can feed more than 4 pax for light eaters. The chicken inside was succulent and tender (there are a few dry pieces but they were mostly tender). I love the guo ba which is the burnt rice parts. They were crispy and not burnt at all.

Eating claypot rice requires patience as the staff has mentioned to us that there are only a limited number of charcoal stoves in the kitchen and each claypot rice requires near to 30 minutes of cooking time. We were fortunate that day to get a table almost immediately when we were there as our previous attempts to dine there did not materialised due to the long queuing time just for an empty table. Alternatively, you can also pre order your claypot rice orders and collect them for takeaways or prior to dining in.

At Geylang Claypot Rice, besides their Classic Claypot Rice (Pictured is the $16 portion for 1-2 pax), you can order a host of other zichar dishes from seafood to tofu, vegetables, meat and other rice/noodle dishes. Their signature claypot rice comes in a huge portion for the $16 portion with generous amounts of chicken chunks and variety of sliced Chinese sausages and waxed meat in it, giving it a nice aroma and flavour. I would wish for more salted fish added to it to give it more umami-ness and will definitely top up there is an option for it. Otherwise, good location, comfortable air conditioned environment and value for money.

This is opposite Concourse Beach Road. Not Geylang! Ok the rice is quite nice but I feel is not as flavourful/salty enough compared to the one I eat at Jin Le Claypot Rice (Marsiling). Abit pricey at $16.80++ (1-2pax size) but place is air-conditioned with modernised old-school feel. Good if going in bigger group then can order other dishes like tze char style.

RMB TO CALL IN AND ORDER IN ADVANCE, not only to secure seats but it's pretty shiok to see the claypot alr there once u arrive don't have to wait lol

Smallest portion, everything was pretty decent, ckn had a good texture. But their socarrat really cmi, it's hard and sticks to your teeth. So DO NOT SCRAPE THE BOTTOM, ik it seems like it defeats the purpose of claypot rice but trust me you'll have a better time. There's a reason why the staff doesn't scrape the bottom when they mix it for you. Sambal was not bad, can mix into your own bowl

Don't think it's worth a special trip but certainly good enough to satisfy cravings

Hands down my favourite place for claypot rice! We got the large claypot ($36) intended for 5-6 persons, filled with generous amounts of tender chicken chunks, pork belly, lup cheong, salted fish and vegetables.
The ingredients were tossed in the most delicious and fragrant dark sauce, with the overall sweetness matched by a deep smokiness from being cooked over charcoal. We broke up and mixed in the layer of burnt rice at the bottom, adding a nice crispy touch.

The portion was definitely more than enough for the 5 of us, as we ordered sides too. The sides do get quite pricey, but my recommendation would be the Prawn Roll ($11.80), it was really to die for! I was blown away by the thin and crispy outer encasing the juicy meat filling. The sauce from the Tofu with Crab Meat ($18.80) was also a really great addition to the rice.

I don’t even like sar poh fan that much but I love this place! If you’re going, definitely preorder your claypot rice to save you the 30min+ waiting time!

🔥Claypot Rice (Small S$15+) for 2 pax. Portion size is big and alot of chicken meat! I liked the texture of the rice, not too soft. Waited more than 40min for this during dinner time as i did not book in advance.

This is one of the few dishes which I thought came out to be a little underwhelming given how the eatery is a powerhouse with many delicious dishes under it's belt. The lala tasted very ordinary and I felt that the spring onion and ginger seasoning could be better used to bring our the best taste in the lala.

I prefer the rice at New Lucky Claypot Rice at Holland Drive (fragrant and intensely flavourful), but the one here is also delish. Aircon is a major plus. More food choices too. The tofu skin roll and the chilli lala are pretty good. Portions are generous, and prices are reasonable.

This air-conditioned stall opened quite recently along beach road. The food was pretty good, although you have to wait about half an hour for the claypot rice. If you plan to eat this, you can call to make a reservation. The claypot rice will be ready for you at your reservation time!

An unexpected find at a popular claypot rice joint; was pleasantly surprised by how soft the tofu was and how it went well with the egg gravy. The prawns were glossy and firm.

The amount of pork ribs given were very generous and the old cucumber were steamed till soft. I like how the pork ribs were so soft and tender and the soup was in general very comforting on a cold rainy night!

The aroma that filled my nose when the staff opened the lid was enough to win me over. Super hearty meal due to the generous helping of sausages, pork belly, juicy pieces of chunky chicken; all of which were cooked to perfection. The rice was crispy and you could literally taste the fragrance of the ingredients with each bite. Tip: ask for extra chilli sauce as their formula is sure addictive!!

Served with ingredients such as succulent chicken chunks, sausages, and fragrant salted fish, the claypot rice was smoky, toothsome and tasty.

Claypot Rice ($15 for 2pax)
.
Currently craving @geylangclaypotrice which has recently reopened along beach road from their previous geylang location. Decor of the space has been hipster-dized but food remains traditional. The claypot rice comes with pork belly strips, juicy and tender chicken chunks (even the chicken breast!) and generous slices of chinese sausage. Especially loved the sausage’s xo-ish aftertaste. I only wished there was a lil more wok-hei. We also tried the tofu prawn ball ($12). Almost every table ordered this and for good reason. Tofu is silky smooth and we loved drenching the gravy on our rice.
